**CONTACT US FOR APRIL DISCOUNT**From this private, 2 story home located on the Kailua end of Kaneohe above Kaneohe Bay (it's an easy 8 minute drive to Kailua town and beach, a few minutes more to Lanikai beach, and less than 15 minutes to Kaneohe town), you'll have PANORAMIC POSTCARD VIEWS from nearly every room -- sailboats on the bay (the weekly races provide a colorful show of spinnakers), the sandbar in the distance (location of scenes in the movie '50 First Dates'), and the Ko'olau mountains as the backdrop.
You can sit on the front deck and gaze at Coconut Island, reading about its fascinating history--not only was it said to have been used for shots of 'Gilligan's Island,' but it once hosted presidents, actors and royalty, and WW II Navy flyers on R and R, and now serves as an important marine research facility. Or, you can watch for visiting yachts or other vessels -- with the filming of 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' in the bay, the view from the deck included a pirate ship!
The home is cooled by HILLTOP BREEZES and ceiling fans and is fully furnished with all linens and full kitchen amenities, plus extra cooking items (blender, rice cooker, electric kettle, crock pot, mini food chopper, waffle iron, Foreman grill, spices). We also provide body boards, snorkeling gear, beach towels, coolers, beach umbrella, sand toys, and beach chairs.
There is 1 bedroom downstairs, plus a tub and shower bathroom; there are 3 bedrooms upstairs, plus a shower-only bathroom. Toilet is separate from the sink/shower, and has its own door off the hallway.
Also included: wireless internet access, flat screen televisions, a full-size foosball table, books and board games. To help with your choice of activities, we provide brochures, maps and local menus. The indoor dining table accommodates six; there are also 2 counter chairs and outdoor chairs plus table on the lanai.
In 6 minutes you can drive to world-renown KAILUA BEACH, where, in addition to swimming, you can enjoy activities like body boarding, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, and kite-boarding. A few minutes beyond Kailua beach is LANIKAI BEACH, also voted as one of the country's best. There are several nearby golf courses, both public and private (including Koolau, one of the country's most challenging and most beautiful).
MILITARY guests will appreciate the short 5 minute drive to the Kaneohe Marine Base and its commissary, exchange, and private beach.
For 'big city' action, you can get to HONOLULU or WAIKIKI in about 25 minutes, or you can access the nearby H-3 onramp to head toward Pearl Harbor, the Aloha Stadium swap meet, or the airport (22 minutes away). Kaneohe town (and Windward Mall) is about 12 minutes away. Continue past Kaneohe and you'll be on a scenic drive to Kualoa Beach Park, or beyond to the north shore and its famous beaches. Or, if you prefer to just relax, you can sit on the lanai with a good book and spend your day enjoying the view.
We look forward to welcoming you to our hale with a basket of Hawaiian coffee and local treats. Don't forget your camera!
Special Note: ***The paved driveway up to the house is steep -- the reward is the view! Driveway is not suitable for trucks, and we recommend cars and SUVS over vans.
Another special note ** While we want you to enjoy the house and its decks and views, this is not a party house. We do request that you show aloha to our neighbors on the street below by refraining from loud, late partying on the decks at night**
(Please note: We don't allow smoking or pets in the house)

I'm so happy because ocean view from here is fantastic! It was No. 1 view in my life. We thank you for your kindness. ~ Yumiko
We spent happy happy time at your house. It is so comfortable. MAHALO!!!! ~ Mariko
We rented this gorgeous house in Kaneohe which has 4 separate bedrooms that slept 5 military retirees when we visited the island of Hawaii for 7 days of golf. The house could probably accommodate another 3 or 4 people easily. We could not have had better accommodations. The house had everything we ever needed....Full size kitchen with all the required kitchenware, laundry room, eat in kitchen, 2 full bathrooms. Don't purchase anything till you get there. It may be there already. We purchased food and very little else. I can't imagine a more gorgeous view in Kaneohe with an isolated property perched on a hill for total privacy. Don't spend your money on a hotel. I promise you....This will be well spent money and the owners are extremely accommodating. Lastly, close to a military facility as well as other places that will satisfy your needs!!!
My family and I stayed here the first week of October and we absolutely loved it. The place itself was very clean and comfortable and it had a magnificent view of the bay! It was also well stocked with dishes and even some spices so we could cook a few meals together at "home". We enjoyed the location because it was almost perfectly situated between Kaneohe and Kailua. I especially appreciated the owners, Bill and Joyce. They made an extra effort to make us feel welcome. They were super friendly and always happy to answer questions and make recommendations. We will certainly plan to stay here when we come back one day (hopefully sooner rather than later)!
arrived late at night so it was great bill had left some groceries for us , much appreciated. The house has the best view over the bay and is so nice to wake up to. the location is great 40 mins max to honolulu , but no need to travel far as Kanehoe has all you need, and the beaches are by far the best we have ever seen. Bill was a great host and was always available if you needed anything. The house has all the facilities you need and lots of handy local information. We would 100% recommend the house , location fantastic with an incredible view. You will not be dissapointed. just book it. regards
the Jardine family.
I needed to find suitable housing for my family of 7 (two parents, four adult children + one son-in-law), who were all flying over for a combined vacation and a family reunion (my mom lives in Kaneohe). After doing a lot of research into various options and locations, I selected "Hillside Haven," and I am glad that I did! The house itself was only 5 minutes away from my mom's house, but it is also served as a convenient hub to travel to all of the other tourist/sight-seeing activities that we selected to do (ie, Hanauma Bay, Polynesian Cultural Center, Kailua Beach, Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, etc). Although there were a total of 7 in the house, there was enough room where we could all spread out and still have our privacy if we wanted it. Our favorite places to congregate were the front deck, the living room and the dining room.
From the beginning, communication with the owners (Bill and Joyce) was excellent, and they proved to be very helpful and trustworthy. Everything described about the house is accurate, and has almost all of the comforts of home (with the exception of a dishwasher & A/C). To save $ on food/having to eat out, we stopped by Costco on the way over from the airport and stocked up on basic staples such as bottled water, coffee, bread, milk, eggs and frozen stuff. The Safeway store located less than 5 minutes away also proved to be very convenient. The kitchen is well-stocked with appliances, utensils and condiments, and we were able to make good use of both the kitchen and gas BBQ to cook most of our meals. And because we knew beforehand that we would have access to a washer & dryer, we did not have to pack as many clothes. We also made good use of the beach gear that is supplied with the house (umbrella, chairs, towels and snorkeling gear).
The view from the front porch is spectacular, and was our favorite place to congregate in the morning to start the day and eat breakfast. We were entertained by the geckos/chameleons that visited us every morning.
If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place to hang out and spend some quality time together, this is the place for you! The house is located at the very top of a hill at the end of a street that contains some very nice homes. There is very little human-generated noise - the most noise we heard was generated by the birds in the morning (LOL!).
I would highly recommend this property, and would not hesitate to rent it again should we travel to Oahu in the future.
We took our family of six to the Island over Easter Break....our four teens had enough room to be "teens" in this house with a beautiful view. The great place to stay to get any where on the Island. Seems one is always going in the opposite direction of the traffic. The house is clean and very well kept, with lots of towels and a well stocked kitchen. The Chandler's are very thoughtful host. We loved the welcome basket of local fruit and coffee. The drive up the hill is steep....but we walked it a couple of times and found that more of a challenge than in the car......
We do hope to return one day and highly recommend THIS Great Place to stay.
We found this house to be a perfect fit for our party (4 adults/1 teen). The owners, Bill & Joyce, were easy to reach and made us feel at home as soon as we met them. I think they've done a wonderful job describing the property and all it has to offer. That's saying something because there really is no way to accurately describe the view or privacy this locale has to offer. This location is ideal for those who don't want to deal with the hustle & bustle of Honolulu. We had no trouble at all exploring the entire island during our stay. We made trips to the Kualoa Ranch, the North Shore, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor and Hanauma Bay. It was nice to know that we had a great place to relax and enjoy the view at the end of the day. We would love to visit it again someday and would recommend it to our friends & family.
The house is just minutes from one of the country's most highly-rated and most beautiful golf courses -- Ko'olau -- and is also near the Pali, Bayview, Olomana, MidPac and Royal Hawaiian Golf Club golf courses.
