EN LA MARRE is an early 19thC farmhouse on the estate of Baron de Charette's Chateau de Dracy in a peaceful rural location surrounded by forests and meadows. The property has been converted into six beautiful apartments for couples (unsuitable for children; pets accepted on request). All the apartments are spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, each with private patios with garden furniture and gas BBQ's. PINOT NOIR is a single floor apartment located on the first floor of the original farmhouse with a secluded terrace overlooking the gardens, swimming pool and open countryside. The large open-plan kitchen/dining area is beautifully furnished and connects to the terrace. There is a coal/wood-burning stove in the cosy and comfortable living room. In addition to the music system there are lots of books to suit all tastes and plenty of tourist information.
EN LA MARRE CAN PROVIDE GROUP ACCOMMODATION FOR UP TO 12 PEOPLE FOR PEOPLE WISHING TO HOLIDAY TOGETHER BUT WITH THEIR OWN SPACE
Our stay at Pinot Noir was absolutely perfect. We loved the one of a kind design of the apartment. You can see that it was lovingly made by hand from custom materials. It had everything that we needed for a week. We borrowed the bikes one day and rode along the canal with lunch at a local restaurant. The owners are great hosts.
We have stayed in Pinot Noir eleven times: that should give an indication of how much we love it! It is clean, and attractively furnished and there is everything you need in the kitchen and on the terrace for outdoor eating. The on-site owners do all they can to assist but do not intrude. They always invite new guests for a drink in their area on arrival to give bits of information. A weekly barbecue is on offer at which guests bring a dish and any food for the barbecue. This is always good fun and plenty of good Burgundian wine is drunk. There is much to do in the area but we just enjoy the total relaxation of En La Marre - the pool is where I spend most of my time reading or swimming or just talking to other guests. Le p'tit Kir is a lovely canal side restaurant in nearby St Leger d'Heune and well worth a visit. There are many more on offer too. I thoroughly recommend Pinot Noir - try it, you won't be disappointed.

Between Beaune and Dijon are all the famous wine villages of MEURSAULT, POMMARD, NUITS.ST GEORGES etc. to wander through, winetasting as you go. DIJON (1.5 hours from us) is worth a day visit for its Palais des Ducs, excellent Musee des Beaux-Arts and Les Halles, a large indoor/outdoor market surrounded by cafes and restaurants, particularly colourful on market days. 20 minutes west is historic AUTUN, the former capital of France with its roman architecture and ruins and the gateway to the lakes and forests of the MORVAN NATIONAL PARK.
