Two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, log burner, decking area with fabulous rural views.

The Potting Shed is set within the boundary walls of Hargate Hall and as such is surrounded by established gardens. There are two entrances to the property and off road parking for vehicles. There is an attractive garden to the front of the cottage and raised deck area for guests to relax and enjoy the stunning rural views across the countryside towards MamTor.

The Potting Shed is situated in the rural hamlet of Wormhill which lies only 4 miles from Buxton where leisure facilities including swimming pool and the Pavilion Gardens can be found as well as the famous Buxton Opera House where regular music and theatre shows are a feature.

Tideswell is the nearest village where small local shops and public houses can be found which is 2 miles away. For walkers and cyclists Wormhill is conveniently located for access to the Monsal Trail at Millers Dale. Bakewell and Chatsworth House are popular tourist attractions for visitors wishing to explore the Peak District and being only 8 miles away are easily reached from Wormhill. The Angler’s Rest at Millers Dale is the nearest pub to The Potting Shed, being one and a half miles away where award winning real ales can be enjoyed.

All the accommodation is on one level and comprises of an entrance lobby with cloakroom. To the left is the twin bedroom and to the right is the main living room and kitchen area. The kitchen, at one end of the room, is equipped with all items needed for family dining and there is a dishwasher and microwave in addition to the cooker. At the other end of the room there is a cottage suit and wood burning stove where guests can relax and watch television, play board games that are available, listen to music or read. There is a range of adult and children’s books and toys available. We also provide Swingball for outside as well as a gas fired barbeque for al fresco dining on the decking area.

Leading on from the living area is the family bathroom with shower facilities in the bath. The master bedroom is beyond the bathroom and affords space for a travel cot if needed. There is ample storage for guest’s belongings in both bedrooms.

For guests attending a wedding at Harge Hall please note it is a three minute walk from the cottage to te Hall on the road.

I still have family in the Peak District and we decided to buy a cottage back in the village where my family has lived for generations. I work in health and social care with children and young people and have a family of my own.

Why Fiona Horspool chose Derbyshire Dales

We love to visit Derbyshire to see family and friends and also to enjoy the stunning landscape. We are steadily working our way through different walks in the Peaks with our two dogs and enjoy finding new places. Derbyshire has so much to offer to the holiday maker and the location of the cottage affords tranquillity yet is close to the spa town of Buxton where there is always an event worth a visit.

What makes this cottage unique

What we like most of all about the cottage is the beautiful location; it is full of character and is a great place to relax and enjoy outstanding views from the decking area. The log burner makes for a homely environment when it is cold outside. The bedrooms are either side of the living room which allows privacy for both occupants.

Absolutely loved the potting shed.

We loved our stay at the potting shed, dispite the weather we still got out walking with meg and Jack . It was so quite and cosy ,especially with the log burner . We didn't want to go home. We will definitely be coming back again. Thanks for a lovely holiday . Sue & Chris

Perfect Long Weekend

The Potting Shed is a lovely warm country cottage in a very quiet rural setting with beautiful views to just sit, relax, and absorb. The cottage itself is clean, well maintained and has everything you need during your stay, we spent a long weekend there at the end of February 2017 and found the whole experience from beginning to end to be perfect.

Beautiful little dog friendly cottage!

Absolutely stunning property in a postcard type location. Accommodation was spotlessly clean and had lovely thoughtful touches included (welcome pack with tea and coffee items, pantry items, wood for the log fire etc). The hosts were brilliant and friendly and really went out of their way for us and couldn't have been more welcoming.

We never travel without our dog and she was so happy with her surroundings and we were happy to be in a dog friendly cottage.

Thank you for a lovely short break and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommended property from us😊

Really good location in Peak District with great view.

Car: recommended

Chatsworth House is a 20 minute drive and well worth a visit. The Monsal Trail can be accessed at nearby Millers Dale and is great for walking or cycling. The spa town of Buxton is the nearest town for shops and amenities including the famous Opera House and Pavilion Gardens. For theme parks Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock is great for he younger family and for the more adventurous Alton Towers is about an hour away. The nearest swimming pools are in Buxton or visit the outdoor pool at Hathersage. For history lovers Eyam is a delightful village that has a tragic past and worth a visit.
