Awaken to the gentle breezes rustling through the trees as you get ready for a day of excellent trout fishing, horseback riding, golfing, hiking, whitewater rafting, cave exploration, downhill skiing, ASU football, or shopping and antiquing in Boone or Blowing Rock. This one of a kind property offers a large retreat cabin that is situated on five beautiful acres with a rushing stocked trout stream. The cabin is nestled between two mountain ridges and have Laurel Creek and Elk Creek merge together at the beginning of the property and flow throughout the entire five acres. The property is beautifully landscaped with rock outcroppings, rock gardens, majestic trees, and flowering plants. This cabin comfortably sleeps 10 and there are two additional cabins available on the property which can rented with the main cabin(please contact for pricing) to sleep a total of 16, or the additional cabins can be rented separately which makes this property ideal for anything from a romantic couples weekend to a family reunion, large family, or multi family vacation.
The main cabin, Whisper Pines Lodge, has two separate and complete living areas. This cabin sleeps ten and rents for $225 per night or $1495 per week.
New additions to this cabin also include a private, top of the line 6 person Jacuzzi hot tub that overlooks the stream, and a pool table for your nighttime entertainment.
Be sure to bring your fishing poles as you can walk out the back door and catch trout, small mouth bass, and sunfish for dinner or just for sport. Elk Creek is a state stocked trout stream, and it is rated as one of the cleanest in all of NC. Fishing is excellent right on the property with several very nice trout holes with both native and state stocked trout. Other amenities include gas grills at each cabin, fire pit for bonfires and marshmallow roasts, and plenty of rocking chairs, swings, and hammocks on the property for just plain relaxing.
This cabin retreat is also conveniently located to all the area activities and attractions. Enjoy horseback riding just minutes away at nationally known Leatherwood Stables which is adjacent to this property and offers trail riding from beginning to expert year around. If you are looking for a stream side cabin for your mountain retreat you will not find a better location anywhere. This property has it all to make your trip to the mountains memorable.
The property met our expectations and we throughly enjoyed our short stay. We were not sure about the fireplace since there were no directions for use ( directions left for everything else) . My grown boys look forward to going back when trout are in season!
The house was nice and we loved the creek!!!! The only issues were the sulfur smell in the water, no can opener (we left you one), and the bottom of the shower downstairs looked very dirty and stained. The rest of the house was great! The girls had a blast fishing and even caught 2 little trout. We would come back again.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin! It doesn't say it on here, but they do have wifi which was a surprise for us! The scenery is beautiful and relaxing. It about a 25 minute drive to Boone and a little further than that for Blowing Rock but definitely easy to do day trips to both! All in all, we had a great time!
Love Love Love! We hosted our entire family here for the weekend and our wedding. Whisper Pines Lodge and Elk Creek Cabins were exactly what we were looking for and turned out to be more than we expected. It is the perfect layout for a family of 18. Plenty of space for everyone to breathe. The surroundings are stunning and peaceful. The lodging is much more than the photos show. Everyone is planning to do it again next year and will continue to come back for years to come. If your family is the outdoors type, this is the place for you. Thank you!
My father-in-law, my 2 teenage sons and I just returned from a great visit at Whisper Pines. The house is remote so plan ahead for your food needs unless you just want to go out exploring. The creek was crystal clear, cool, very nice to sit in and has small fish you can see swimming. We released everything we caught but they seemed to like corn as bait. I would recommend paying the man to bring out a load of firewood, we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. When we went it was still warm there as it has been all across the state but was not as humid, temps were around 85. We didn't explore much as we've already done that over years past, just stayed close to the house. The home is very well furnished, washer/dryers on 2 levels, refrigerators on 2 levels. The downstairs is not air conditioned but stayed cool if you left the door at the top of stairs where it is air-conditioned open. We grilled or cooked inside each of the nights we were there, plenty of kitchen supplies. There is another cabin located on the property about 50 yards from Whisper Pines and it was rented so not total privacy but it didn't really bother us, we never saw the other tenants. It was just guys, if my wife would have gone she definitely would have had an issue with the sulfur in the well water. We brought our own water and used it for cooking, coffee etc even though I know the well water is completely safe. I have an irrigation well that has sulfur so the rotten egg smell is not foreign to me but it's definitely an issue you need to be aware of. It didn't affect our fun. Thanks Mr. Blalock for sharing your home with my family.
We spent a week at Whispering Pines and found the amenities clean, comfortable and well appointed. With four adults and three teenagers, we loved the quiet location and spent time enjoying the fishing, fires in the fire pit and time in the hot tub. This trip was our opportunity to un-plug from electronics and remind our kids how to have fun with family. Old fashioned puzzles and board games supplemented our hikes, swim time and fishing. We had a great time and would recommend this rental for family bonding.
