Great location, Comfortable bed, Wonderful neighborhood!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. We loved the comfortable bed and great shower. The wifi worked great - which was important for us. The neighborhood has wonderful restaurants and feels very safe. It can get a bit noisy, but it is downtown London and was expected. We were grateful for the early check in after our overnight flight! The apartment was very clean and was perfect for our visit. Thanks so much!

Central London at its best!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first ever VRBO experience and it made us fans. All of our questions prior to arriving were answered promptly and we were given good advice. It was raining when we arrived and our host was waiting outside to greet us! Everything promised in the advertisement was there and we were extremely comfortable. Very safe neighbourhood with lots of amenities! Great local restaurants, especially PRet a Mange for breakfast. It became our go to place for take away food.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Located one block north of many bus lines, one of which takes you to Victoria Sation in less than 40 minutes, this is such a convenient flat to book. Upon our departure, we took the first bus N38 from Gray's Inn stop at 5:44 am to Victoria Station and it got us there in 20 minutes. We then took the regular Southern train to Gatwick South Terminal and were at the airport by 7:05 am. Just for the ease of transport alone, I would stay at this flat again.

Alasdair's flat is quiet and nicely furnished. Bed is a comfortable queen. The flat is also on the ground floor which is a plus for us older folks. The flat was quite warm when we arrived and there were no windows to open to get fresh air. The temperature remained at about 25 degrees Celsius day and night. We put a cardboard piece to keep open the mail flap within the front door and this helped air circulation a bit.

There is a fairly large grocery store around the corner on the west side of Gray's Inn Road. The fridge has a little freezer so we were able to store ice cream. We used the toaster and kettle that were supplied.

All in all we were happy with our stay. Alasdair's friend, Steven, was most helpful with initial access to the flat.

Could be so good

  • 2 of 5

It is certainly not "NEW" - the title is deceiving, it was new but is now very tired. The apartment is well located about a 20 minute walk to the Thames and some major sights. Buses are nearby (the best way to travel London) with a supermarket and eateries close. There is a great washing machine. Unfortunately it is run as a money making business first and very little thought is given to making the guests stay enjoyable and comfortable. Heating and cooling is a problem as there is no ventilation or openable windows. No toiletries, or consumables including washing up liquid, soap, etc were provided. The bed is a disaster, with movable slats which collapse through with you and the mattress following - needs replacing, or repair of the structure with new mattress. The place is noisy (a loose concrete slab outside the bed window and cars and businesses moving and working at all hours), with 2 street lights right outside and no ability to effectively shut out light - sleep is therefore very difficult.

There is plenty of storage but there is nowhere to put clothes other than a hanging space, as all are filled with cleaning, and other 'junk'. Crockery, cutlery is not thought through and you you get by, but sadly a little thought could improve the quality of your stay.

The place could do with quite a bit of TLC as it is getting very tired and has been flogged! This is simply a business and poorly run at that!!! We spent a week there and unfortunately the issues became a bigger problem every day. There was no point complaining as they were running a pressure fleet of other properties and you really were given the minimum time and consideration - not valued!! You didn't meet the owner but a property 'manager' - it would be good for the owner to live there one day and see what he thinks.

There has to be better value for the money elsewhere - so steer clear until they work out the issues.

Best Location, Wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

This studio is located in the heart of London, with public transportation to everywhere only minutes away. Our first impression was of the hosts. Alasdair contacted us within 24 hours of our request and securing the flat and the payment process was simple on the HomeAway app. Our next communication was from Stefano, who gave us detailed info on collecting the keys, helping us with tips for transportation from the airport and assuring us we would be greeted at the flat upon arrival. And we were! Although check-in time was at 2p allowing time to for cleaning up from the previous guests, we were able to leave our luggage and pick up the keys, and he even recommended a fabulous local coffee place around the corner. The conveniences of this flat were numerous, from the comfortable bed, pull out couch, fully equipped kitchen complete with a fast heating induction stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, combo oven/convection microwave and a washer/dryer. We had a slight problem with the dryer, but our third contact, Rufus, took care of everything and was a pleasure to deal with. We LOVED this studio, the location, and the hosts, and are planning to return to London from our home in the United States with family, but will need more space. Fortunately, the owners of this flat own several other apartments, and we will be sure to book one of their properties, as we have confidence it will be as special as this ultra modern, clean and convenient studio.

Great Studio Apartment

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed my stay. The flat is really well equipped. The bed was comfortable & sturdy with memory foam mattress. The bathroom is spacious with dual shower heads, towel warmer a nice touch. I'm a very plus sized person and had no issues.

Kitchen has enough for most cooking purposes although it could benefit from a small saucepan. Comfy couch although I had really bad knee trouble & found it too low to sit on this won't worry most. Kitchen table & chairs also came in handy.

Wifi was reliable and tv good. Some googling for appliance manuals was needed to work the combo microwave and oven & washing machine/dryer but they worked as well as you expect such machines to - microwave before using the oven or the oven racks/shelves are too hot. Combo dryers take 2-2.5 hrs to dry 1/2 your washed load of clothes ESP cottons but the hot setting really was steamy hot. I never did get the dishwasher to go I could program it but it never started, no doubt a trick to it I didn't pick up on, but as I was staying alone I needed clean dishes again long before I'd get a full load in the machine so did them by hand.

The location is good, restaurants, supermarket & shops & bus stopsall within about 100m walk. Fairly quiet area, the flat is ground floor so u did hear a few loud ppl walking past on the street during the evenings. If you're a light sleeper perhaps a bit annoying but earplugs would easily cover it. But for a central apartment I found it surprisingly quiet.

The hosts friend who greeted me was friendly and helpful and had great communication.

Storage space for suitcases might be the only issue if there were 2+ people and lots of luggage. Under the bed would only take so much.

Highly recommended

It is in the heart of Central London, within 5 minute walk of many tube and train stops, which makes it a great place to get around London. You can walk to most tourist attractions in a short time, and you get to really experience London by walking through the centre of London, with it's fantastic mixture of architecture from the last 600 years (instead of spending the whole time on the London underground!).

It is literally in the middle of so many amazing places that an easy walk or quick bus will take you to explore Oxford Street, Covent Garden, the British Museum, the British Library, Trafalgar Square (and the National Portrait Gallery), Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the River Thames and South Bank (the Tate Modern and the London Eye).
