Keepers Cottage is a delightful, recently refurbished, traditional Highland house. It is situated on Dalmigavie, a secluded private estate. The house is let as a whole, with three twin bedrooms, and a large, well-equipped kitchen and dining room with a lovely open plan sitting room with a log stove.
Dalmigavie lies at 1100 ft, and is surrounded by miles of empty 'Monahdliath Mountains'. There is a long track from the house up the glen and then into the hills. During the Spring when birds are nesting, we ask guests to avoid walking on the open hill, especially with dogs. Almost every British bird of prey has been seen at Dalmigavie. David and Lorna Paton, the resident game-keeper and and housekeeper, have been at Dalmigavie for 14 years and live in a cottage close by.
House rules: No dogs allowed in the house accept by prior arrangement.
Dogs to be kept on leads outside (sheep, deer, red squirrels) and nesting birds in the Spring - woodcock, curlew, oyster catchers, green plovers, grouse, amongst others.
Please treat the house, grounds, river and hills with care and respect.s a secluded Highland estate set amid lovely mountain scenery. Once you cross our bridge over the river Findhorn you are in a little world of your own.
Dalmigavie is 6 miles off the A9 near Tomatin. It is 40 minutes from Inverness airport, and 20 minutes from the station at Carrbridge. Two hours from Edinburgh. A car is needed, and the last 100m to the house is up a steep vehicular track. There are several good golf courses in the vicinity. The coast is 45 minutes away. The weather can be wild and cold, or warm and balmy, sometimes on successive days!
If you enjoy fishing, you can take a day or two of salmon fishing on 4 miles of the Findhorn at Dalmigavie at a cost of £50 per day. Rods are not provided. Let us know in advance in case it is already booked. We can take up to 4 rods at a time.

You must go here!
Awesome location, charming cottage for our group of 5. We had all the comforts of home in this highland retreat. Lorna, the caretaker, made us feel right at home. Short drive to Inverness and surrounding sights plus very secluded, nature filled area. We so enjoyed our stay. 5 stars.
We have great stay in this lovely cottage, and like our home! Love it and enjoy it. Will return back again soon! Many thanks!
Wonderfully equipped cottage in a beautiful remote location outside of Inverness.
Six of us (3 couples; same family) stayed in this cottage and it was perfect for us.
We had such a wonderful time at the cottage! We hated to leave! We look forward to coming back again someday!
Delighted that you enjoyed it.
