Villa "Kia Ora" is a name adopted from the Polynesian Maori of New Zealand which translated means "Be well/healthy"
"Kia Ora" is a new build designed and constructed in the style of a traditional winegrowers house. Situated in "Villerouge la Cremade" which is a hilltop Hamlet in the "Corbiere". The "Corbiere" a wine growers stronghold in the "Aude", which is one of the five departments that make up the region known as the "Languedoc Roussillon". This region is nestled in the elbow of the Mediterranean's Gulf of Lyon and stretches from "Provence" in the north down to the north eastern Spanish border with France. "Villerouge la Cremade" is close to the medieval villages of "Fabrezan" and "Ferrals" and a short drive to the various villages on the banks of the "Canal du Midi", and the impressive towns of "Carcassonne", "Narbonne" and the Beautiful village of "Lagrasse" part of the association of the most beautiful villages of France. The immediate neighbouring area offers substantial cultural and leisure activities and there are numerous "Chateaux" and vineyards offering wine tasting and direct sales of the World class wines available in this region. In the Hamlet there are the ruins of "Chateau Villerouge" which is still in active wine production as a annex to the prestigious "Chateau St Esteve" from nearby "Thezan".
Steve has lived in France and worked in Tourism for the past twenty two years and has this to say, "I now live in the "Savoie" region of France and have holidayed extensively in the "Languedoc/Roussillon" over the past ten years. I have always been drawn to the Hamlet of "Villerouge la Cremade" and in 2014 I was fortunate enough to stumble across this new house which I purchased and have sub sequentially christened "Kia Ora". If you share my passion for music from the sixties and seventies you will enjoy my collection of photos of artists from this era, if it's not your passion you can chuckle at my eccentricity. I have spent time and thought in enhancing the finish to the house to a standard of comfort and convenience and hope that you enjoy the result".
Steve McEwan purchased this villa in 2014
I consider myself lucky to have found this propertty. For me it ticks all of the boxes, friendly neighbours, ideal location and not to far off of the beaten track. The climate in this region is wonderful and the house is well protected from the famous mistral. The neighbouring forests offer spectacular walks and there are some excellent restaurants in the area, although it's a tough decision to leave the peace and tranquility of dining on the terrace overlooking the pool.
We had a lovely time in this modern house built in a traditional style. It was very comfortable and clean and the pool was a big hit with us all. The whole pool area, like the house, was well presented and well laid out and attractive. There are plenty of places to visit in the area and the owner was very responsive with any queries if needed. There were no problems at all with this property, parking was not a problem and we would all stay here again.
Beautiful, well equipped, secluded villa. The six of us had a wonderful week relaxing here. The pool was very well used!
On arrival we were very impressed how spotlessly clean everything was. This is a lovely villa which is decorated tastefully and very well equipped.
Beds are extremely comfortable and we all slept well. Very important on holiday.
Fantastic outside space and pool. Close to neighbours but this wasn't an issue at all.
Great location being about 40 minutes to the sea and plenty to see locally.
Steve the owner is really helpful and answered any questions we had. We would not hesitate to book again.
We all loved the house with all the amenities. Mathieu was waiting for us on our arrival. Steve was easy to reach by phone and answered all our questions. We would recommend to house to family and friends.
This stunning and immaculate villa was an absolute pleasure to stay in. Set in a picturesque village , yet close to so many amenities and lots to do in surrounding areas. However, we didn t really need to go out as the Villa provided lots of fun and entertainment. Highly recommend for families and couples looking for a relaxing break in the Langudoc region. Would go back there any day.
The "Hameau Villerouge la Cremade" is a simple country Hamlet overlooking the plains of the vineyards in the World famous "Corbieres" wine region of the "Aude". A particularity of the area is the presence of music that can be heard in the neighbouring Hamlets and villages. Most weekends village fêtes can be tracked down in the region where a multitude of talented amateur and professional musicians perform enthusiastically to anticipant audiences. Not always easy to find but, once discovered, worth the effort. Please note that we regret that during the summer holidays, July and August, only bookings from Saturday to Saturday can be accepted
