Great home on the Delaware Bay the NJ side. The house is on a bird preserve so there is a lot of wild life around. In the early summer the horse shoe crabs come lay their eggs attracting many different birds and fish. The turtles also come up and lay there eggs on the property in early July. There is a 100 foot fishing pier part of the home and ideal for the fisherman with a clean station. The home has a full kitchen, AC, Heat, washer and dryer, outdoor shower. The location is also good. 25 minutes to Avalon or 25 minutes to Cape May.

“Location, location, location!!! Birder's paradise!! We had a wonderful few days at Alex's home! The deck is as beautiful as pictured and we were able to fish, sun and eat right on the water. Our primary interest was birding and we had water on one side and a wildlife management area on the other-spectacular! Ospreys flew overhead regularly. The house was spacious with plenty of sleeping space and 2 baths,a kitchen with a dishwasher as well as a W/D. The TV was large and had DISH. Cell signal was fine and the wifi worked well from a Jetpack. Alex was a wonderful host and was available immediately for questions and helpful info. Cape May (our original destination) was 30 minutes away, but given the phenomenal local birding from our own dock and at Matt's Landing and Thompson beach only minutes away, we only went there once. Groceries and restaurants (except for one very good diner) are about 25 minutes away, so you might want to get your groceries on the way in. Having my beloved dog with me while enjoying the area made for a fantastic vacation! We hope to return next year!”

What Laureen loved about your listing:
“The location and dock with the ability to fish right out your door was the best! For birding enthusiasts, the location can't be beat. I can't say how much it meant to have my dog with me-all the difference in the world!! Alex was always available without being intrusive. It was a really wonderful "
This was the second year we had a family vacation at the Bay House. Ages 5 to 60+ and everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave. My favorite part is the deck, and this year the front and side decks were rebuilt giving us even more room. More than enough room for Cornhole and lots of places for sitting out and eating out. Of course, the pier is our favorite hangout, for crabbing, fishing, flying kites, watching eagles, reading a book and keeping an eye on the kids kayaking. This year we experienced the tides during the full moon. It was surprising how far out the low tide went uncovering large areas of sand. We love the house as well. The open floor plan makes it perfect of all ages to be involved in different activities while still in the same area. The kitchen is well equipped and the dishwasher, washer and dryer make cleanup hassle free. My husband loves the rest and relaxation, though we did get him out for a little antiquing and to eat at 2 local restaurants. This year we didn't have a campfire because it was too windy, but we did the year before and it is just delightful. To keep this review honest, the internet worked for several days and then cut out, but we didn't miss it cause there were better things to do (we didn't bother Alex about it cause we honestly didn't miss it). Also, the bedrooms do not have closets. Last year we brought a shower tension rod and placed it at the top of the stairs, this year we forgot. Alex always replies to calls and emails quickly. We look forward to visiting again.
This was a wonderful trip for my husband, myself, our 4 kids and two dogs! All the amenities of home, and a view that is worth every single penny! Was a wonderful experience all around!
As I said, perfect for my family. Left today, it was sad to leave the beautiful deck, almost full surround ., the tranquility of the splashing water, the cute little cabin. There were 10 of us and we all had a bed, in addition there was a couch. We brought a blow up bed but never even brought it out of the car. Loved it! The kids loved fishing, crabbing and Alex was so kind to let us use the Kayak. If you like solitude- a perfect place. If you like to be on the go Wildwood, Atlantic City, Cape May are all about a 50 minute drive. We did it all and I heard no complaints from a single person, not even our youngest, a ten year old boy. Only thing I would suggest is bottled water. Alex thank you for a great week .And yes we would recommend this property.
My group and I had a fun and relaxing long weekend at this waterfront property. The house and patio look just like the photos posted. We were lucky enough to get sunny weather and a few of us kayaked around the bay. (Thanks for providing the kayaks Alex!) Some of the rooms smelled musty, which is to be expected in a house by the water. The patio and first floor were newly renovated and the kitchen had all the cooking appliances we needed. We also took advantage of the charcoal grill and grilled dinner every night. For a large group (we had 7 people) we felt comfortable in the first floor space. The house could have used a good vacuum, but I admit we as a group are a bit picky. Alex, the owner, was a wonderful host. He answered all my questions quickly and generously let us stay a few more hours at the house to fit our travel needs. Overall, great owner and great location to get away from it all.
I recently stayed at this property for a long weekend with my parents and grandparents and I have to say that we were very pleased! With my grandmother experiencing some difficulties walking and my grandfather on oxygen, I was wary of finding a rental suitable to their needs. This place was beyond our expectations. They only had to climb a handful of stairs into the house and then one out back onto the spacious deck. I believe this little getaway was the perfect location to recharge everyone's batteries. We all enjoyed sitting on the deck and pier and just enjoying each others company away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And falling asleep to the sound of waves is never a bad thing!
Fishing off the pier was easily my favorite thing to do here. We used shedder crabs (which you can also get from the crab traps off the pier) and squid-probably caught at least 20 sand sharks plus croaker, skate, sheepshead, and striped seabass.
Heislerville/Maurice River Township is a nice small area with plenty of helpful locals. We met the Deputy Mayor at Wawa one morning and had a lengthy conversation regarding attractions and things to do- she even took the time to draw us a map! The first stop we took was to Haases Marina and they were equally as helpful- the owner took my dad and me outside, dropped the tailgate on his truck, and taught us how to properly cut shedder crabs for bait (while another fisherman and a local prison security guard watched and added their advice as well). The whole area really is a down-to-earth, laid-back atmosphere. And, of course, we couldn't have asked for more from Alex who was always quick to respond (and even his neighbor who brought us fish).
If you are in search of a calm and peaceful getaway, this is your place! We will certainly be back!
This was great family vacation! Heislerville NJ is an easy drive to Avalon and Stone Harbor beaches, maybe about 25 minutes. This house has everything you need. Myself, my wife and son were all very pleased. The house provided a relaxing atmosphere that frankly I could have spent most of the time fishing from the nice pier. If you like to fishing from a pier I we did well at around low tide. Caught some croakers and eels almost exclusively on shredder crabs that you can purchase at Anchor Marina on Matts landing Road. The homeowner Alex was very helpful and very accessible by both phone and text which made the stay that much better. Definitely a great vacation! Thanks Alex.
