Apartment Oleander is based within a new resort of well finished apartment no higher than 3 floors surrounding a large swimming pool and children pool.

The apartment is spacious and open plan. At the front a small private terrace gives access via the front door to the open plan living area with a dining table, 4 chairs, a large corner suite, television with European channels, wifi and air conditioning. The well laid out kitchen is very well equipped with a hob, oven, fridge freezer, Washing machine and dishwasher. Also you will find a kettle, toaster and microwave. There are plenty of utensils, pots pans and glasses so a real full size kitchen to enable you to create some fabulous meals from the fresh local produce on offer an the daily market in the village.

Towards the rear of the apartment you will find two bathrooms with a overhead shower, bath, bidet and basin and toilet in one and a shower, basin and toilet in the other.

The bedrooms consist of a master bedroom with a large double bed, side tables and reading lights, wardrobe space, aircon and French style windows with shutters. The second bedroom has comfortable twin beds again with side tables, reading lamps, wardrobe space, aircon and again French style windows leading onto a small balcony with shutters.

Apartment Oleander is the last on the block so sits on a quiet plot with a small garden at the front and a view of the swimming pool.

The resort also offers secure underground parking and secure living, entry to the resort is gained by keypads and in turn a lovely safe environment for children.

The large swimming pool area is fenced again offering extra comfort to families with young children and also has the added extra of a lovely little children's pool. The apartment has sun beds and a parasol that can be taken to the pool area.

Located less than a 5 minute walk from the centre of Santa Luzia and a few minutes more the the boats for the beaches this holiday location does not need a car making it the chance to enjoy a really relaxing holiday.

Shhhh - a real gem of a place!

We booked a last minute break and are so glad we found this place.

The apartment is spotlessly clean, finished & furnished to a very high standard and ultra comfortable. The aircon works properly and kept us cool after the hot & sticky days & there are some very thoughtful touches such as a decent hairdryer, pool towels, free wifi & a great juicer!

I almost want to keep it our secret so we can come back and stay again but it really is worth coming out to this beautiful home from home in a tranquil yet vibrant village with it's pristine offshore beaches.

The 20 or so restaurants & cafes (some hidden in sidestreets) really are just 5 minutes walk away & there is a great choice, we ate out for less than €45 for 3 of us most nights (with wine).Especially worth trying are Baixamar & the Steak & Sushi restaurant. The boat for the beach is the same distance away and if you need a touch of retail therapy, there are shops just a couple of km away in Tavira or a tad further in Olhau.

There is little I could say against this place (except that we had to leave it after 12 nights..) but my wish list would be complete if beach sunshades & a couple of beach chairs, & possibly a coolbag could be stored in the apartment. We bought some & donated them to an English couple we met when we went home.

You will need these as on the hot cloudless days on the beach you will need them if you don't want to pay for the concession loungers & shade each day.

Excelente apartamento de férias/ Great holiday apartment

A estadia foi muito agradável e confortável. O apartamento está muito bem equipado (até tem varinha mágica, e o WI-fi, tv por cabo e ar condicionado também funcionaram sem problemas), com boas camas e impecavelmente limpo.

Não tivemos qualquer problema e a empresa que gere os alugueres respondeu a todas as nossas questões com a maior rapidez e mostraram-se muito prestáveis. Apenas à chegada tivemos que aguardar 45 min. pela chave, embora justificassem o atraso.

As únicas sugestões seriam colocarem um black-out na porta da suite para a varanda (não tem estore) e equiparem a cozinha com talheres e pratos para 12, já que com 4 adultos, os conjuntos de 6 obrigam a ligar a máquina da loiça entre refeições, um desperdício de água e energia.

Recomendaria a quem queira férias de praia e piscina, em zona calma e tranquila. O ferry para a praia da Terra Estreita (10 min de distancia) tem passes semanais muito em conta (12€/adulto), e esta praia é muito menos comercial (e frequentada) que a o Barril.

É possível comprar pão no café junto ao condomínio e no centro da vila há uma peixaria e um mini-mercado com produtos locais muito bons.

É um R/C por isso convem não deixar o estendal na varanda qd saímos/vamos dormir (desapareceu uma toalha de praia durante a noite).

Our stay was lovely and very comfortable. The apartment is well equipped (has it all and the wifi, cable tv and air conditioning worked great), with good beds and spotlessly clean.

We had no problem during our stay and the rental company was always quick to answer our questions and most helpful. The only hitch was waiting for 45 min for the key when we arrived, though they justified their delay.

We would suggest adding a black-out on the door from the master-bedroom to the balcony (it has no blinds) and another set of dishes and cutlery (for 12), as, with 4 adults the 6-set forced us to get the dish washer working between meals, a great waste of water and energy.

I recommend it to anyone looking for pool and beach holidays in a quiet area. The ferry to the beach is 10 min away and has cheap weekly tickets (12€/adult) and the beach of Terra Estreita is less crowded nearcy beaches.

There is a coffee shop that sells bread around the corner and a fish monger and small grocery in the village with local fresh shellfish and produce.

It's a groundfloor so don't leave stuff outside when you leave or go to bed (a beach towel left to dry went missing during the night).

Santa Luzia is a picturesque fishing village, idyllically situated close to Tavira and also the beautiful beaches of Ilha de Tavira. The otherwise sleepy harbour comes alive each morning when the renowned octopus catches are brought ashore and sold in the local market.

Tourists who miss this spectacle can also taste this local delicacy at one of the village’s restaurants, which overlook look the colourful fishing fleet.Santa Luzia is an interesting half day excursion from Tavira for tourists looking to experience a unique, traditional Portuguese way of life. The village is also situated on the Algarve Cycle Path (the Ecovia do Litoral) and can be easily included as part of a bike ride or short hike.The main attraction is the village itself. Santa Luzia is a traditional Portuguese fishing village, which remains authentic and untouched by the influences of tourism. The colourful fishing boats return early in the morning and this is the best time to visit the fish market, where the last night’s catch is displayed and sold.Tourists seeking some time on the beach can also visit the Praia da Terra Estreita, which is easily accessible by ferry. This beach is part of the Ilha de Tavira sandbar, which offers visitors an unspoilt, stunning shoreline. This beach is regarded by some as the best beach in the region and is always quiet, even at the height of the summer season.For those seeking some nature, the village is positioned on the edge of the Ria Formosa Natural Park; a series of protected mudflats and lagoons designed for migratory birdlife. In the summer there are boat tours around this area. However, an interesting free natural phenomenon can be witnessed at low tide when hundreds of crabs in the scramble mud flats.No visit to Santa Luzia is complete without sampling octopus (pronounced Polvo in Portuguese), a delicacy loved by the Portuguese. This dish is extremely difficult to cook but the village has mastered the fine art.Origin of Santa Luzia: The village was named ‘Saint Lucy’ following the recovery of a holy relic by a local fisherman, which had been lost out at sea during a storm.Tradition of octopus fishing: Look out for the clay pots lining the boats and docks of the village. These pots have been used traditionally in the fishing of octopus and fishermen still use this method today...clay pots are lowered onto the seabed and the unwitting octopus are tempted to swim in but are unable to escape.Santa Luzia is only 3km southwest of Tavira and can be reached easily along the Algarve Cycle Path, which is perfect for those wishing to explore at a leisurely pace. This route has been purpose-built, following the quiet R151 road, and is perfectly safe for those of all cycling abilities. Bikes can be hired from either Tavira or Santa Luzia.The route is also suitable for hikers and takes around 40 minutes to walk. More adventurous hikers can also extend the route and continue on to Praia do Barril beach (5 hours). From here it is easily possible to walk the length of the beach to Ilha de Tavira and catch the ferry back to TaviraSanta Luzia is situated behind the sandbar of Ilha de Tavira. Extending the length of the sandy island are some of the best beaches in the region. The beach closest to Santa Luzia is called Praia da Terra Estreita, which is accessible only by ferry from the harbour. The frequency of ferry services is seasonal (regular departures take place from May until mid-September) but there are also water taxis for those who miss departures or are visiting in low season. An adult single ferry ride is €1.50 and a return is €2.00.To the east of Praia da Terra Estreita is the Praia de Tavira; the most developed section of island, while to the west is the Barril beach and the Cemetery of Anchors. Both beaches can be reached on foot from Praia da Terra Estreita and takes around 30 minutes. Praia da Terra Estreita is always much quieter than Tavira or Barril but there are only basic facilities available. It is recommended to head to Praia da Terra Estreita in peak season to escape the crowds of beach goers.

We operate a strict arrival and departure time limit especailly during the summer months. Arrival is after 1600 and departure is before 1000. For arrivals we are happy to meet you at the property after 1000 to drop baggage etc but then entry can not be gained until after 1600 to allow the cleaners to prepare the property to the exceptionally high standard that we at Mars Algarve pride ourselves upon. Departure is strictly before 1000 and failure to depart on time without prior arrangment will result in a financial charge.

Upon arrival you will be met by one of the very helpful Mars Algarve Team they will hand over the keys to your holiday home and take the time to show you the property and tell you about any local information and answer any questions you may have. The Mars Algarve team will then be on hand during your holiday for any issues that may arise.
