|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
This wonderful property is located on miles of picturesque flat, white sand beach of Waimanalo away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. This property offers privacy and security with stone walls and gated entrance. Great barbecue and outdoor dining area surrounded by a lush garden where you can relax your cares away. Property offers added amenities such as beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys. There is room for extra guests with two available twin-size futon mattresses. Located a mere 5 minutes from scenic lighthouse and surfing beaches of East Oahu and only 10 minutes away from shopping and dining in Kailua town and only 30 minutes from Waikiki.
We can confirm the general positive experience other reviewers had, but want to add some additional impressions:
+ Location in quaint Waimanalo is perfect. Right on the beach as described by others -- could not be nicer from that perspective
+ Washer/dryer are pretty new and detergents etc. are provided to guests (but both are outside in a closet)
+ Kitchen appliances etc. are all in good condition and some are newish (toaster broke during our stay, and Christine replaced it immediately)
+ The second bedroom upstairs does not have a door, it's more a loft situation (Christine mentioned that to me on the phone, so I was not surprised, but it’s not clear from the pictures/description at all). Couple that stayed up there was quite hot despite ocean breeze and fans.
+ Air conditioning is only in the smaller bedroom downstairs (small unit not strong enough to cool anything beyond the room)
+ Access to the main bathroom is actually outside of the house (adjacent to main door though) and has no tub, but a huge shower
+ We had plenty of bugs (mostly ants, geckos, but also a few roaches and centipedes) inside the house. Kind of expected in a tropics location so close to the beach, but feel like there could be done more to control for it (we did not mention it to Christine, because we did not want to have a treatment done with all of us in the house, but she probably would have arranged something)
+ Christine was *very* difficult to reach prior to our stay, and the calendar on HomeAway was not up-to-date. We had to change plans because of this, unfortunately. Being used to instant confirmations, we were quite nervous about this place being confirmed in time (deposit check need to be mailed).
+ The house is overall in an okay condition – feels a bit rundown and things need touchups here and there (e.g. some locks are difficult to operate, walls are dirty etc., trashcans rusty etc.).
+ They have a small backhouse on the property that one can rent in addition for a small fee (I think she said $50/night or so), but we did not and hence can’t comment on that (they won’t rent it out during main house stays)
+ Internet worked great and was very fast
+ There are some homeless people around Waimanalo beach (tents by the official beach park) that sometimes walk around the beach. We never felt unsafe in any way, but made sure to lock the house and arm the alarm system whenever we left.
It was perfect for what we needed. A house on the beach in Hawaii, what more could you ask for? Christine was wonderful and could not have been more accommodating. She made sure our stay was perfect. The place was a very good size and gave us some room to spread out after being in a smaller place on Maui. The place is RIGHT on the beach, the pictures don't even do it justice. The view is really spectacular and so convenient to the beach. There is even an outside shower to clean up while enjoying the beach. Really was a perfect stay for us. Close to some very good restaurants in Kailua. The beach is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Very sandy and not too many people as this is more of a residential area. People were extremely friendly as well. Perfect stay!!!
My husband and I could not have asked for a better place to rendezvous with our son and daughter-in-law. We thoroughly enjoyed the private and peaceful location of this beach house. Both yard and view were beautiful, in fact the beach connects to the property! Christine, the property manager, met us upon arrival and was most helpful, but not intrusive. She does not live on the property, but was readily available by phone. All amenities were as described and we would like to return some day with all our family.
My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in this amazing property for a week from March 4 to March 11, 2016. Although Christine was a bit difficult to reach prior to our arrival she was so easy to deal with once we finally touched base. The property is in the most perfect location, has all the amenities one could possibly need and is quiet and relaxing. I would stay in this lovely cottage again without a shadow of a doubt:)
Very nice beach house, suitable for 4 adults and 1 or 2 children. Beautiful beach, beautiful sunrises, well equipped, with indoor and outdoor living space. Quite private despite location right on the beach, easy access to Kailua and only about 30 minutes to Honolulu.
This getaway is exactly as we imagined. Waimanalo is a quaint little town, and the beach in front of the house is basically private. We were there during spring break, and saw very few people on, what can be considered, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Christine is excellent to work with. We are definitely going back!
East Oahu is priveleged with great white sand beaches, where surfing, kayaking, diving, snorkeling, boating and fishing are world class. Waimanalo beach is Oahu's best kept secret that tourists rarely frequent. Long uncrowded beaches await.
