About Meegan Holland

I had no intention of buying a cottage in the summer of 2016 but fell in love with this little gem. It was the view from the Shady Shores beachfront that lured me in: As you look west, you see the iconic Sleeping Bear Dunes, and as you look east, you see boaters crossing the narrows from Little Glen to Big Glen Lake. Located within minutes of Glen Arbor's charming boutiques and the spectacular Lake Michigan beach (and Grocer's Daughter Chocolate!) in Empire, I consider it my little piece of paradise!

Great Location

The cottage was spotless when we arrived. It is a stand alone condo with a shared beach on Little Glen Lake, which is a pristine inland lake. There is a bonfire pit in the common area near the cottage as well as down on the beach. We spent many peaceful moments sitting out on the dock on the lake and especially enjoyed the stars at night.

There are so many opportunities for nearby activies, but we our first stop was Good Harbor Tasting Room which has excellent reasonably priced selections. We then traveled to Blustone Vineyards and just had to join the wine club so we could taste the 2015 Winemakers Red and stock up on this special occasion vintage. Afterwards, we found a nice beach on Lake Michigan to enjoy the wonderful feel of walking barefoot in the sand.

Nearby Art's Tavern provided a good spot for the guys to watch the MSU game, and we also had a delicious breakfast at Good Harbor Grill. The kitchen in the cottage, while small, was very well set up and we made ourselves a couple of simple suppers and breakfast one morning.

Owner's Response: When I received an e.mail from this renter I immediately sent a note of apology and a check for the full amount of rental fee paid. I neglected to inform cleaning lady of the date for cleaning, and took full responsibility for the oversight. This has never happened before in over ten years of rental history. I would welcome another chance to do better for this renter.
