The town of Anavissos (along with its sister town of Saronida) is located 45 kilometers from Athens (about a 50-minute drive along Athens' 'Riviera' or 'Gold Coast.') The entire Anavissos Bay, the horizon, and the Southeastern mountain range are your first sights in the morning when opening the bedroom windows of your mountainside villa retreat. On many cloudless days, you can make out the nearby Aegean island of Aegina.
And the waterfalls in the villa's own gardens also serve to ease life's daily stress, and lift your spirits.
Your stay in this luxury villa will be enhanced by the numerous options for dining, sightseeing, swimming, water sports available. And when the mood hits you after a day's relaxation in the sun, put on a DVD movie on the 6x7 foot screen of your Home Cinema.
Built in 2005, this modern luxury villa is located on a mountainside overlooking Anavyssos Bay (belonging to the Saronic Gulf) in Anavyssos, Greece, a village located about 45 kilometers (28 miles) southeast of Athens following a scenic coastal drive along the “Greek Riviera” in the direction towards Sounion, the archaic site of the Temple of Neptune.
Access between floors is by stairs or by elevator.
You will be occupying the top two floors of the Villa, and your hosts will be occupying the ground floor. Be assured that your entrance to the Villa and your stay at the Villa will be completely private.
The owners (fluent in English, Greek, and German) take pleasure in sharing their wide knowledge of Greek culture and local customs with their guests.
The beaches of the area.: The expansive beach (in panoramic view from the 2nd and 3rd floor verandas) is just a 3-minute drive away down the hill. Your choice of beaches is varied…pebble beaches, sand beaches, beaches with shade trees, beaches with free beach umbrellas, etc. You can choose a different beach experience every day.
An outdoor shower in the garden will get the sand off your feet before entering your luxury setting.
Dining Options.: A 2-minute drive away is the cosmopolitan town of Saronida (sister town of Anavyssos) a favorite week-end destination for Athenians that offers every type of dining option, from pizza parlors, to hamburger palaces, to restaurants specializing in “mezedhes” (wide variety of hors d’oeuvres).
In the neighboring town of Palaia Fokea, you can choose among 6 restaurants right on the beach that specialize in fish and deep sea food. And numerous grill restaurants are just a minute’s walk from the beach.

Perfect Proposal Destination
I stumbled on this villa after a week of searching online for something very specific: a Greek home with a view of the sea and mountains as well as a white baby grand piano. This was the exact description my girlfriend described as her perfect proposal five years ago. After writing to Sid and Anna that this was the perfect location for a destination proposal to my intended fiancée, they went out of their way to accommodate our restrictive travel schedule and then helped immensely in preparing for the proposal itself.
The entire experience at Villa Jill was incredible. Villa Jill is situated on a mountainside overlooking rolling hills and the Saronic Gulf. Both the Villa and its views of the sea and mountains are absolutely breathtaking. The villa is clean, safe, and homey; it's the hosts’ home, after all.
Sid and Anna are amazing hosts. As many other guests have mentioned, Sid and Anna setup a car rental in advance. When the first rental fell through due to unavailability, they immediately took steps to find a replacement. Realizing the difficulty of a late-night journey, they had their preferred taxi driver waiting for us at the airport. The rental car arrived the next morning. Similarly, the rental car was picked up the night before our early-morning departure and the same taxi driver drove us back to the airport.
When my girlfriend’s luggage didn’t make the trip here, Sid and Anna immediately took over. Even though we arrived near midnight, Sid called to check on it and provide their contact info. The next day, Anna called repeatedly until the airport/airline agreed to have the bag at the villa. It showed up the next morning. In the meantime, they recommended places where we could buy my intended a new bikini, dress, etc. We spent the day at a local beach Anna recommended that’s five minutes from the villa and has the clearest waters I’ve ever seen.
The fridge was stocked with fruits, a bottle of wine, and bottled water. Throughout the visit, Sid and Anna gave numerous recommendations (best gyro, which island to visit, great grill-house, etc.) that made for a perfect trip. Sid even helped us hire a local photographer for the surprise proposal. If you're lucky, you may hear Sid play impromptu jazz piano or taste Anna's delicious Greek breakfast. The two of them went above and beyond the duties of any host, and never once intruded upon our privacy.
Sid and Anna are like our Greek family now. We love them. You couldn’t ask for better hosts.
The Right Choice
Our group (4 adults in our 50s) made the right choice in selecting this villa for our stay. This is a new construction (2005), very high-quality home, quite spacious, in a quiet neighborhood, and with a tremendous view. The location is nice - an hour by car to Athens, a half hour by car to the airport, both of which are easy drives. The description of the property on the website was accurate in all respects.
Sid and Anna were very kind and hospitable hosts. They provided us with very useful recommendations of what sights to see, restaurants to visit, beaches to enjoy, how to get there, and how to read the menus and road signs. We were sad to say goodbye to our new friends at the end of our stay.
I highly recommend booking this property for your stay in Greece.
Our stay with Sid and Anna made our trip in Greece incredible. I cant begin to express how their insight had such a profound affect on our daily itinerary whether it be adding destinations or lunch / dinner.
When I think of our daily trips without their added guidance we would have missed so much. They made excellent restaurant (taverna) suggestions depending on the night of the week and every time we listened to them we had incredible meals. For example, our day trip to Delphi they added 5 stops enroute and we made it to 4 of them which I would have never known about that were incredible experiences.
Also, Anna was always kind and placed a snack or dessert in the fridge for when we returned. The welcome basket in the fridge was also very nice and helped us in the mornings. They were great with the kids and grounds were fun for our children to explore, even the 2 large turtles my son befriended.
Sid helped with the rental car reservation and assisted way beyond the call of duty in its pick up and drop off at the airport. He also made the ferry reservation for us and the rental car to go to beautiful Aegina Island for the day which he also gave suggested sights to see, maps and restaurant suggestion, everything was spot on.
In the end, yes this rental is owner occupied, but with it you get a very nice pair of people, Sid and Anna, who truly become like family while you are there, that are solely interested in the success of your stay.
I recommend without hesitation.
For our 20 year anniversary, my husband and I decided to take a trip with our best friends (another couple celebrating 18 years) to Greece. We wanted to be away from the chaos and traffic (so we heard) from Athens, but close enough to be able to drive there or take a bus so we could see the sights and enjoy it at our leisure! Main thing we wanted was a view and be close to beaches.
Well, we couldn’t have found a better location…or better hosts! The Kornberg’s villa in Anavyssos is absolutely breathtaking, inside and out. We had a view of the ocean from both bedroom balconies as well as from the living room terrace and the patio outside (where we had breakfast each day).
We arrived to find that they stocked our refrigerator with bottled water and fresh fruit. They put together a welcome letter with instructions on where everything was in the house, how to use the security system, a map to show us how to get to many of the local restaurants and stores, and they even put together an suggested itinerary for us (at no extra charge!). What a help that was!
Things we loved:
* The elevator – My husband recently tore his ACL and this was such a plus to not put any ‘extra’ stress on his knees
* The town of Anavyssos – it’s quaint, it’s friendly, it’s just far enough away from Athens, and just close enough to it!
* Our hosts – What a treat they were – you will not get this kind of personal attention in any hotel!
Things to be aware of:
* You will need to rent a car. Also, remember that automatics are harder to come by, so tell Sid and Anna if you need an automatic so they can have one arranged for you.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend this place to anyone planning a week (or more) vacation in Greece.
The Ultimate Greek Experience
From the moment Sid Kornberg picked us up at the airport, we felt right at home! Staying with the Sid and Anna was a much more rewarding experience than even a five-star hotel could offer. They were gracious hosts who wanted nothing more than to make our stay a pleasant one. Anna cooked a full breakfast every morning and asked us to choose from a variety of options. Dinners were usually served outside on the patio overlooking the twinkling lights of Anavissos. Sid was the travel expert who was able to recommend activities from local beaches, to restaurants, to Athenian attractions, to “the ultimate Greek experience.” (You’ll have to ask Sid what that means ;-)
Their home is located about 25 minutes from the Athens International airport on the side of a hill which overlooks Anavissos bay. The view is stunning! Waking up each morning and walking out onto the balcony gave me such a serene and peaceful feeling. I couldn’t wait to start my day! The elevator was a great touch! If I didn’t feel like climbing the stairs it was ready at the touch of a button.
Sid and Anna were also gracious enough to obtain tickets to the new Acropolis Museum, which had only opened the week prior to our arrival, which were highly sought after tickets! They were also able to obtain an affordable car rental for our use. Other recommendations included the Island of Egina which was an easy one day trip from the house in Anavissos and an overnight visit to Napflio, the first capital of modern Greece. Sid and Anna made reservations for us at an affordable 3 star hotel in Napflio (60 Euro), which was located in the heart of the city.
I enthusiastically recommend you spend your vacation with this delightful couple who were able to help us discover our own “Ultimate Greek Experience.”
Thank you Sid and Anna for a wonderful time!
This rental house has a nice panorama of the hill and water, but the owners live on site!!! They give us "Rules & Regulation" for the use of THEIR HOUSE! We could not use the balconies when we wanted, because they have an alarm system and want to use it! The house is decorated with their family photos & kitch paintings, but the view is nice! We felt like school children under the adult supervision!!! My husband asked if we will be "grounded" if we do not follow their "Rules and regulations"...We will not rent this villa again! The near by hotels cost about 50 euro (ex. Alexander) & do not "keep an eye" on you...you will fill free to come and go as you will please.
We invite the reader to be fair here. We believe this review to be totally unfair. The guests claim that they were surprised that “the owners live on site ! ! !”
But our website states clearly:
“You will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Villa. Your host occupies the ground floor of the villa.”
So should it have been any surprise that we live on the premises?!
The “Rules and Regulations” referred to by the guest is in reality a welcoming letter for all guests that begins. . .
“To our guests:
"To make your stay at the Villa as enjoyable as possible, we ask you to read the following information:”
Of course that letter does indeed include very strict rules about smoking on the premises. We also did provide our guests clear instructions, including a security code, on how to disarm the security system during the hours of 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., so they could open the doors to the verandas (where smoking was permissible). According to our records, the alarm system was never disarmed during their stay. We don't know why.
In any event we regard our instructions about smoking indoors and the security system to be important and reasonable, and designed in fact to protect not just us, but the guests as well..
As the guest accurately reported, the husband on the second day of the visit did in fact ask if they would be "grounded" if they violated the non-smoking ban. We regrettably assumed he was joking with us, and we laughed along with him, acknowledging the joke. We now understand that this was intended as a serious comment.
As for “kitsch” paintings, the reader will be interested to know that many of them are by one particular Spanish artist named Ruiz, whose works have been featured prominently on TV shows in the United States. These paintings today command a high price in the art market. We admittedly have no Rembrandts.
Regarding photos of our daughter around the villa, we plead guilty! We make no excuses for displaying them, and certainly see no reason to hide them when a guest rents the Villa.
We invite the reader to compare this guest’s review with the many strong recommendations stated in the reviews of other highly satisfied guests, and to make an independent judgment.
Sid and Anna Kornberg
Our guiding philosophy is to make your stay in Greece memorable. To that end, we aim to give attention to detail. We’re Sid and Anna, the owners. Sid’s an American who teaches Modern Greek to foreign embassy personnel and other guest workers; and Anna’s a Greek with 30 years of executive experience in the U.S. Together, we’ll work to insure that your stay runs smoothly. We’ll give you as many recommendations for sights to see, places to eat, beaches to frequent, etc., as you want. Remember also that you’re only an hour away from Athens, so you needn’t miss out on Greece’s main attractions, like the Acropolis and Parthenon, Plaka (Old City), and the numerous cultural displays afforded by Greece’s magnificent museums. There's a tennis court only 2-minute walk away, and a golf course about 30 minutes away. Numerous water sports can be enjoyed in the area such as water skiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, paragliding, etc.
