Overview

About the property

A perfect retreat for a couple, sleeps up to 4 people

Casa Cusau faces south with full mountain views towards the Picos de Europa national park. An indulgent stay for a couple, but also comfortably sleeps four – an enjoyable place to relax in all seasons. The two storey stone house is a contemporary rural retreat, nestled in a small mountain hamlet, fully rebuilt from the original stone barn, which was a traditional winter place for cattle and hay. There are two bedrooms (double and master), spacious open-plan living and dining area with an exposed timber ceiling, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, ample storage, and bathroom with large walk-in shower. There is a balcony off the living area, as well as a garden terrace, both enjoying mountain views. There is central (underfloor) heating and a large open fireplace. Wifi, screen/ DVDs (English/ Spanish), universal music speaker, firewood and basic supplies such as milk, coffee, tea, olive oil are provided. There is also an extensive library for you to enjoy during your stay (English/ some Spanish).

La Molina lies in the Cabrales valley, and is less than an hour and a half from both Santander and Asturias (Avilés) airports, with good roads leading right up to the village, where there is free parking. The house is less than a 200 metre walk down through the village, whose narrow winding roads are part of its rural charm.

Casa Cusau looks across to the hillside Chestnut forest of ‘Cueto Pando’. There is plenty of birdlife, as well as walks into the park itself, tree-shaded historic paths along the Casaño river with ancient Chestnut and Beech forest, and routes above the village with views into the heart of the park and across to the sea. The wider area has other parks such as the less well known Ponga, also the town of Cangas de Onís with traditional market every Sunday, and good access to the coast with many beautiful beaches.

The house is perfect, the owners very helpful and gracious.

Sadly we hit bad weather and were socked in. Didn't think about the weather patterns this time of year, or maybe we just had bad luck.

You are seriously out in the sticks in the wonderful house. Not much around to engage in in bad weather unless you want to drive some. They have fabulous books to read on the shelves. It depends on how much cabin fever you can take. I hope to return in better weather. Thank you Olga.

A beautiful property in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived we knew that this would be a special place. While the website description was impressive, we found the reality to be even more impressive. We were warmly welcomed by Olga and Marc, who were incredibly helpful during our stay. Their beautifully designed and well-equipped house was comfortable and furnished to the highest standard. Fantastic mountain views and peaceful wooded walks made for a really relaxing stay at Casa Cusau. The property is surrounded by plentiful fauna and flora, with soaring eagles and vultures rising up the mountainside on the warm thermals. A real feature is the extensive and quality library that covers a whole wall, with a good selection of DVDs to choose from. We enjoyed many day trips in the area and can recommend the many nearby small beaches and the attractive surrounding towns of Cangas de Onis, Ribadesella and Llanes. All-in-all we had a fantastic holiday in a wonderful property. Highly recommended.

Tranquil and beautiful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Tranquil and beautiful retreat with stunning views of the Pico mountains. Stylish and modern interior with all mod cons, and very comfortable. Wonderful walking trails from the front door. Our hosts Olga and Mark could not have been more helpful. Definitely very highly recommended.

A home... Away from home

  • 5 of 5

A gorgeous place to stay, cosy and comfy, but also a great place to start discovering the "Paraiso Natural".

Between forest and mountain, and at the same time close to the beautiful beaches.

Thank you Olga and Marc for your hospitality and advices, and congrats for the house !

We'll be back, that's fore sure ;)

A well appointed house and tranquil place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This modern, architect-designed house fits in well with other houses in the small village of La Molina. It provided the ideal base for a week of hiking, enjoying local food and visiting attractions. The host, Olga was very helpful and assisted by making reservations for restaurants and sight-seeing attractions. She also was generous in that she supplied some basic food essentials. La Molina is situated at the end of a narrow road, deep in a valley and is in a village with no shops. So, it is important to bring your provisions with you.

A lovely house in a tranquil setting

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully-appointed, architect designed house in a quiet village nestled in the hills of Asturia. We greatly enjoyed our week at this house and found it a most pleasant place to stay. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. Our visit was greatly assisted by the owner, Olga, who booked restaurants for us and answered many questions about local activities. This house is a great location for hikers, lovers of cheese, good food and history. While being within 30 minutes of many tourist spots, the village is deep in a valley at the end of a narrow road frequented only by locals, canyoners and hikers.
