Bahia Honda not only provides white sandy beaches but also stunning tropical vegetation and a great variety of bird life.
Boat Rentals: Boat Rentals: Dolphin Marine at MM 28.5 on Little Torch Key offers a variety of rental boats. Keys Boat offers delivery and pickup of rental boats to the dock on a weekly rental basis. Big Pine Key Boat Rentals is located at MM33 in the Big Pine Fishing Lodge.

My wife and I are a retired couple who live in Deerfield Beach Florida. We purchased the lot in 1983 and built our dream home in 1985. It has been updated most recently with porcelain tile throughout and a remodeled kitchen with granite countertops.

We purchased the property because of our love of the Keys and the beautiful surrounding water. Most of the canals in the Keys are shallow however ours is 17 feet deep. You can see the bottom and fish swimming by from the dock and swim in the clean, clear water. We purchased the home in this particular neighborhood because the lots were larger than most and many of the surrounding homes were upscale. We also enjoy the great access to fishing and diving from our home and location.
We very much enjoyed this lovely home on Big Pine Key. It was our first trip to the Keys and I don't think we could have found a more comfortable place to stay. It was peaceful and quiet, yet not too far away from any of the great places to explore in the Keys. It was close to the grocery store and also had several restaurants nearby that we enjoyed. We saw plenty of Key deer one evening on our way to the No Name Pub, where we also enjoyed a great pizza. We visited the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in Marathon, Bahia Honda State Park, a snorkel trip out to Looe Key Marine Sanctuary, and spent the day in Key West. We much enjoyed Kiki's Sand Bar on Little Torch Key for lunch and happy hour and it was just a short distance from the house. It was always nice to return to such a quiet and lovely home at the end of our day. The house was clean and well represented by the pictures on it's listing. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful with information on the house and suggestions of things to do while visiting the area. We would be happy to return to this home and would highly recommend it to others!
Excellent location on a clean, quiet and deep private canal very near the channel. The house is spotlessly clean, well stocked and superbly maintained. Nicely laid out with an open floor plan, beautiful deck and plenty of room for a 2 bedroom. The owner is really a nice guy and the neighbors up and down the street are absolutely neighborly. I would not hesitate to stay here again and it receives my highest recommendation. A great value.
First, the owner was very nice and he always responded promptly to any questions we had. The place itself was nicer than depicted in the pics, very clean, everything was in working order. Located at the lower part of big pine key it was a 30 min drive to key west during the busiest time of year which wasn't bad. We were able to see key deer on the road leading to the house everyday. The neighbors were very nice and even let us use their kayaks. The best part was lounging on the screened in porch in the morning overlooking the canal and ocean, drinking cafe con leches from 5 brothers grocery on ramrod (5 min drive). I would bring my family back, we all loved it.
This house is located in the quiet neighborhood on the canal with straight and fast access to the Big Pine Key channel! The location is great with easy out to US1 & to shopping, gas station, etc - Winn Dixie, CVS, Reef Light Tackle, Shell, etc. We really enjoyed our stay here and will certainly return.
The house is clean and has great amenities as advertised. The beds are comfortable. There are plenty of closet space & the bathrooms are clean. The living room is spacious. The kitchen has great layout, lots of counter space with everything we need to fix breakfast and cook our meals. The screened in porch is a great place to relax, have dinner & drinks while watching sunset. We appreciate the wide stairs going into the screened in porch to bring in our stuff from downstairs. We only wish there were some storage space downstairs available for renters so that we didn't have to haul our fishing gear upstairs every night, but it worked out & provided us some exercise walking up the stairs. The washer & driver are full size and works well with all features, a relief for us over other rentals with mini washer and dryer.
We rented a boat for the week and the boat was easily delivered to the canal behind the house and docked. Sure like the rubber bumper on the poles by the dock so safeguard the boat from being scratched. The fish cleaning table is great! We fished daily from our boat out at the reef or inside the reef & caught lots of fish - yellow tail, lane snapper, gag grouper, cobia, bonita, shark, remora, lady fish, blue runner plus others. There are lots of fish in the canal - mango snapper etc.
In addition, we went snorkeling at Looe Key which was easy to get to from here. Bahia Honda State Park is only 20 min away, & we visited the beach and walked up to the old railroad bridge with spectacular view of the Atlantic ocean, Bahia Honda island and bay. Don't forget to visit No Name Pub - a great find on Big Pine Key with famous pizza & yummy grouper sandwiches. We also enjoyed The Wharf at Summerland Key - great coconut fried fritters with jalapeno chutney sauce.
The owner is fantastic! He provided great info & responded quickly to questions via email. He emailed a receipt for every check so that I know that everything was in place. A little over 30 days after we paid the balance, he checked in with us and provided all the details for the property. He also emailed a week before, as well as the day before departure - it's great customer service!
My wife and I spent over four weeks looking for a home to stay in for our vacation. We absolutely could not of found a better place then this particular property. This property is located on a quite dead-end street with fantastic neighbors and spectacular views of the sunset. The house sits on a clear and deep (12-15 feet) canal. This house had plenty of space down at the dock for our 20' Bay Boat. But, we needed to not go far for fishing fun because the canal was full of a variety of fish right there at the sea-wall! After a long day out fishing and snorkeling around Looe Key, it was nice to come back to the house and have a freshwater hose right at the sea-wall for rinsing down the boat, tackle and our gear. The house offered excellent accommodations for my wife, myself and our 16 year old son. The home is fully furnished and beautifully decorated with "Florida Keys Styling". The kitchen has all utensils and cookware one might need to prepare a wonderful meal. Yet, with all the small local restaurants in the area you may never need to use them, but it is nice to know that they are there. In the evening time my wife and I would catch the sun setting from the comfort of the screened in lanai. Our son would stay in touch with his friends using his laptop and the free wifi internet connection. We will be returning again in the very near future!
The location is excellent on the south west end of the island and within 30 miles east of Key West and around 20 miles southwest of Marathon. The 14 foot deep canal with concrete dock for securing the boat with a fish cleaning table is located behind the house and overlooked from the back porch with easy access to the south west channel.
The patio table and benches located on the dock area next to the canal and the back porch with patio furniture overlooking the canal is excellent for relaxing morning coffee, conversation with spouse or friends or evening drinks.
The house is tiled throughout and furnished nicely. The kitchen area is nicely laid out and worked well for preparing snacks for the day out on the water and meals when we returned. The dining room and living room areas are open and connected to make a very large area for family and friends. The storage area on the ground level below the house made it nice for storing the fishing, water sport equipment and toys, as well as the opening for parking the boat trailer or vehicles. One evening I saw a key deer walking in the lot across the canal.
I would definitely recommend this lovely home as a vacation or business rental if visiting the keys between Marathon to Key West to family members and friends.

Big Pine Key is a unique island because of its large size and available fresh water. It is home for the famous Key Deer who are protected and live on a preserve located on the island. It's not uncommon to see these dog-size, tame creatures roaming the neighborhood.
There are also alligators located inland which can be viewed from the safety of a viewing platform at Blue Hole. If fishing or diving is desired there are boat rental locations in the area or charters may be taken.
There are many good restaurants located within driving distance, which serve some of the finest fish, crab and lobster in the country. There is also a famous exclusive island called Little Palm Island that can be reached only by boat shuttle, where Sunday Brunch is served.
Golf: Golf Course: The Key West Country Club is located on Stock Island just before you get to Key West. This par-70 course was designed by Rees Jones, Inc., a company famous for creating challenging but fair layouts. You can enjoy miniature golf at Boondock’s Grill and Drafthouse at MM27.5. This is the only miniature golf course in all of the Florida Keys.
