About the property

The cottage is set in the beautiful quiet historic village of Bonsall on Masson Hill, although within 25 minutes you can walk to the Heights of Abraham cable car that leads to Matlock Bath which is a popular resort, some other nearby places of interest include Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Carsington water and a little further afield Alton Towers.

The village of Bonsall benefits from two pubs which both offer a range of decent ales and food, the nearest of which is literally a stone’s throw from the front door, there is a café within 5 minutes walk overlooking the local children’s park and a small deli shop.

The cottage is a lovely family holiday home which has been refurbished, maintaining many traditional features which include exposed oak beams, original stone flags too the hall and recessed window seats. The cottage benefits from gas central heating, which is supplemented by a log burner.

The accommodation comprises:

On the ground floor; entrance hall, shower room and w/c. A large lounge leads off the hall which comfortably accommodates 8 people. The kitchen has a 6 seater dining table, range cooker and fitted kitchen.

Upstairs there is one king size bedroom, one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, there is a large bathroom with double ended bath.

A further two people can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the lounge taking the maximum occupancy to eight people ( you would need to fold the bed away each day to use the living room).

From all rooms there are views of the village or the surrounding countryside, the back stairs from the kitchen lead to the rear garden which has fantastic views and the field behind often has cows grazing (please don’t feed them!). There is a table and chairs to enjoy the view from. At the front of the property there is off road parking and a small front garden with seating, further parking is available on the street.

The cottage is child friendly and also two well behaved pets would be considered if kept downstairs (there is an additional cleaning fee for pets).

Whether hiking, hibernating or using Bonsall as a base to explore any of the other activities which are all available within 15 minute drive such as caving, rock climbing or sailing, I am sure you will enjoy staying here!

The only additional costs which are charged are for pets and occupancy over more than 4 people.

If you require a cot bed (without sheets) or highchair please indicate on booking.

Cleaning costs are included, so long as beds are stripped, fire cleaned out and kitchen left tidy.

Check out is usually before 11am

A security deposit of £200 is required and will be taken at time of payment

Lovely Bonsall

The cottage was just as described in a lovely village. An extremely well stocked cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay.Kings Head pub just down the road from the cottage is excellent with great landlord, landlady and staff. Food was excellent, we ate 4 times there in the week. The pies are not to be missed

Fantastic stay

This holiday cottage is perfect for exploring Matlock Bath & the surrounding areas. The cottage is in a quiet location with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. If you enjoy walking there are plenty off trails for you to try.

The cottage itself was perfectly kept, clean, tidy & warm. It had everything we needed so was literally home from home.....we enjoyed a very relaxing weekend.

We would certainly love to visit again in the near future.

Lovely stay over Christmas

Stayed in the cottage for Christmas with the family. The cottage is homely, cosy and kitted out with everything you will need. It was also already decorated for the festive period which was a lovely addition. Ideally located for some nice walks in the nearby countryside with the dog. A thoroughly enjoyable week!

Perfect rental property in Derbyshire

This was a perfect place for our family of 5. The owner was extremely helpful. It has every amenity and was warm and cosy - we had damp and drizzly weather! We had a brief couple of hours of sunshine and made immediate use of the beautiful back garden. We were especially happy to explore the vast quantity of books at the house. Perfect for us. We had wonderful days out at Sherwood forest and Edwinstowe, Hardwick Hall, Eyam plague village and museum, Arkwright Mills and a wonderful day at Scarthin books, (one of the best bookshops I have ever visited) followed by fish and chips...what a perfect day. Enjoyed a lovely mass at StJoseph's in Matlock. So very happy withour holiday. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Mr Carni

Very cozy cottage!

We stayed here ( 2 families of 4 ) for 3 nights and had a great time. Some lovely walks and great food in the local pub. The cottage is a great size and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, warm and cozy, Home from home.
