Stayed in the cottage for Christmas with the family. The cottage is homely, cosy and kitted out with everything you will need. It was also already decorated for the festive period which was a lovely addition. Ideally located for some nice walks in the nearby countryside with the dog. A thoroughly enjoyable week!
This was a perfect place for our family of 5. The owner was extremely helpful. It has every amenity and was warm and cosy - we had damp and drizzly weather! We had a brief couple of hours of sunshine and made immediate use of the beautiful back garden. We were especially happy to explore the vast quantity of books at the house. Perfect for us. We had wonderful days out at Sherwood forest and Edwinstowe, Hardwick Hall, Eyam plague village and museum, Arkwright Mills and a wonderful day at Scarthin books, (one of the best bookshops I have ever visited) followed by fish and chips...what a perfect day. Enjoyed a lovely mass at StJoseph's in Matlock. So very happy withour holiday. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Mr Carni
We stayed here ( 2 families of 4 ) for 3 nights and had a great time. Some lovely walks and great food in the local pub. The cottage is a great size and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, warm and cozy, Home from home.
A quiet, peaceful, very comfortable, exceptionally well-equipped and characterful place to stay in an attractive, characterful, picturesque village in a beautiful part of the country. We recommend it very warmly.
Had a fabulous week and we were very impressed with the cottage and all the facilities offered. Games, books, wi-fi, tv's etc kept us all amused when we were in. Both local pubs were good fun. Only things missing were a BBQ and a shaver socket but overall fantastic and we are looking at dates for a return visit next year.
Matlock Bath and Matlock offer lots to do and well within striking distance to Chatsworth, Alton Towers and numerous walks and attractions.
Had a great time, thanks a lot.

3 adults and two teenage boys. This was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end. Adam was very considerate and helpful, reimbursement for the deposit was swift. The week was very drizzly and cool, but we never even had to put the heating on, the cottage was so cosy and comfortable. We only got to enjoy the back garden for one hour but my Mum and I were determined to sit out there and enjoy the view and peace and quiet. The cottage had everything that we needed and more. it was immaculately clean.
We visited Hardwick Hall, Sherwood Forest, Bakewell and Matlock, the Arkwright Museum and Eyam. Great fish and chips in Cromford and possibly the best book shop in the world. I would come back just to go there. Having said that the house was particularly well stocked with a wide variety of excellent reading material. We had a marvellous dinner at both the Kings Head and the Barley Mow. We wandered down to the pub most evenings. Definitely a wonderful vacation - I would unhesitatingly recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone. We can't wait to return.
