This looks like a deluxe apartment on the web, but it's not!
This property looks aged and cool on the web, but actually sits behind the Super U grocery store which serves Lourmarin and the surrounding area. It’s an apartment building with quite a few apartments and a gravel parking lot. It's relatively new construction, and construction continues outside daily. This property appears to have been sparely and recently furnished, mostly from IKEA. The biggest disclosed problem is that it has no internet connection. So you will be using the internet from various McDonald’s. This, and the lack of a microwave are pretty much inexcusable this class of accommodation. The kitchen ware is also a joke. At least there's a sauce pan now, because I bought on and left it.
The biggest undisclosed problem is the water system. There is one system for the shower bedroom and the kitchen sink, which wasn’t making hot water at all when we arrived. There's not enough water volume to run the rain shower, or side sprays anyway. There's another system for the hot tub bedroom and sink there, which did work intermittently, but does not have the capacity to fill the hot tub. It takes one whole tank to fill the spa halfway at 32C in over an hour, then it has to cycle, and fill up in about another hour. It still doesn’t get to 39C. So, count on 4-5 hours to fill the spa. You can't even stand up in the spa to use the shower nozzle. It's a sitz-bath.
SEND IN THE CLOWNS! The plumbers are came Monday, the 3d day of our stay, and we had to be there when they came, about 5pm. One went back to the truck to get a roll of masking tape. I saw no other “tools”, except a flashlight. We were told that it was an electrical breaker, and they have taped it to an open position and it “should be ok”. I quickly identified the fire exit. I have a picture of this.
The next day, the breaker got replaced, but no one checked for shorts or excessive draw, so it tripped every night. So, you get the picture. The two main draws, the shower and the spa, are un-useable. This is an apartment used solely as a revenue stream. It's concrete, with all the walls painted white, and all the doors grey. There are no paintings, pictures or adornments, no rugs, no chairs in the bedrooms. If you want to have coffee in the bedroom in the morning, you can sit on the edge of the bed and stare at a white wall. The owner appeared as we were leaving, and offered 2 free nights additional stay as recompense. No thanks!
