Lovely cottage from which to explore the north of England

  • 5 of 5

Most welcoming hosts. We were greeted by Pauline who provided some coffee, tea, and wine until we could get to the market. She also left us with some baked goods. Parking was convenient. The location was central, within walking distance of a number of pubs and restaurants as well as a grocery store.

You can easily make day trips to York, Durham, the Dales, the Lake District, and Hadrian's Wall.

The cottage was immaculate, well maintained, and very comfortable.

Would book again should we return to Yorkshire.

The cottage was immaculate, had everything that you required was like home from home.

Pauline and Michael had put a lot of thought and hard work into the cottage, we didn't want for anything, every little detail is there. We would fully recommend this cottage to everyone. The cottage is very comfortable and the we were given a few gifts on arriving too. Pauline and Michael are very kind and friendly people and put a lot of thought into the cottage. Well done and Thankyou.

Lovely quiet cottage with all you could need

  • 5 of 5

We had a super relaxing week in and around Barnard Castle. High Force was amazing especially after the recent rain and overnight snow. Durham is such a beautiful place to visit, as is nearby Richmond. 'Barney' has all you need for a relaxed stay.

Cottage was in a quiet area but near town centre and 5 mins walk from Bowes museum. It was very clean and had everything needed for a home-away-from home break. Gifts of food and wine left for our arrival. Couldn't be better.
