5* Property

The best cottage we have stayed in. We would recommend this cottage to anyone, it was very clean, comfortable and surprisingly spacious, especially the bathroom with its large bath and large separate shower. The owner was very welcoming, it was especially nice to have tea, coffee and milk available to make that all important hot drink when you first arrive and also a lovely touch to have a complimentary bottle of wine and home made flapjacks (which were delicious).

Beautiful place to visit

  • 5 of 5

The fabulous cottage had everything you could possibly need and so relaxing. It has pamphlets of places of interest to visit, many for walking near and far. Everything has been thought out very carefully. The arrival gifts are a superb and welcome touch. Pauline and Michael are lovely and right there if you need them. We neglected to bring our walking boots, a must next time, although we managed to enjoy some excellent circular walks through the woods by the river and beck and across fields. Barnard Castle has so much to do and such interesting architecture too. Definitely a place to revisit in the future.

Absolutely superb.

The cottage was so clean and fresh looking. Tastefully decorated and furnished too. Home from home. Some nice little gifts were left for us including wine & flapjacks! Good position close to shops, restaurants etc. We did two good hikes close by and the High Force waterfall was included. Pauline was very pleasant and welcoming and we exchanged walking stories. Definitely recommend to others.

Lovely cottage from which to explore the north of England

  • 5 of 5

Most welcoming hosts. We were greeted by Pauline who provided some coffee, tea, and wine until we could get to the market. She also left us with some baked goods. Parking was convenient. The location was central, within walking distance of a number of pubs and restaurants as well as a grocery store.

You can easily make day trips to York, Durham, the Dales, the Lake District, and Hadrian's Wall.

The cottage was immaculate, well maintained, and very comfortable.

Would book again should we return to Yorkshire.
