Holiday home in quiet east end of Cromarty

This two bed cottage is one of four originally built in 1896 as new housing for some of the Cromarty fisher families and retains the old red sandstone walls. Extended and modernised over the years, Nicol Terrace Cotttage is an ideal base for a relaxing Highland holiday, only a short walk away from the shore front with its stunning views of Cromarty Bay and the Sutors.

The historic and attractive village of Cromarty is a wonderful holiday destination with a range of shops, cafes and restaurants (all within walking distance of the cottage), and a number of visitor attractions including Hugh Miller’s Cottage, the Cromarty Courthouse, the Cromarty Brewery and Cromarty Pottery.

From exploring the beaches and coastline to mountain biking at nearby Learnie Red Rock there are a number of activities to enjoy during your self-catering holiday. Chanonry Point, the well-known dolphin watching spot, is ten miles away, and many fantastic links golf courses can be found in the area. During the summer you can take the car and passenger ferry to Nigg and Easter Ross, where you can explore Dornoch, Tain and the Northern Highlands.

Accommodation & Facilities

Lounge: two and three seater settee, modern Dimplex electric fire, TV with Freeview, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, free WiFi internet access.

Utility cupboard: washing machine, tumble drier, storage shelving with hot water bottles, torch and clothes airer. Walking boots can be stored here.

Bathroom: bath with overhead shower, new modern toilet, sink unit and mirrors.

Kitchen: modern, fully-fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and DAB radio. Well-equipped with utensils and crockery, cutlery and glassware. Pine table with four cushioned pine chairs.

Bedroom 1: king-size bed, bedside tables with lamps and alarm clock, large wardrobe, matching chest of drawers leather tub chair.

Bedroom 2: adult bunk beds, bedside table with lamp and alarm clock, pine chest of drawers.

Back hall/glassed area: small table with two cane, cushioned chairs. Patio doors leading out to back garden with a washing line and to the patio with dining set, two garden loungers and a kettle barbecue. The front garden is chipped with a wooden garden seat.

All heating, electricity, bedding, hand and bath towels are included in the price, as well as a starter supply of washing powder, toilet and kitchen rolls, and cleaning liquids. A cot is available at no extra cost but please take your own blankets. No smoking is permitted in the holiday home and no pets.

A well positioned, probably former fisherman's cottage perhaps?

The cottage was neat, tidy and clean with the basic amenities for a reasonably comfortable stay.

Perfect location for old Cromarty

This was a good 'find', brilliantly situated for Cromarty Fishertown, the shore and walks up the Sutor. The house is well equipped and has reliable wifi. (Mobile phone calls require a short walk round the corner). The information provided by the owners, clearly backed by a depth of local knowledge, is excellent - and they responded very helpfully to our direct queries about the heating. There is sheltered outdoor space that catches the sun for much of the day and, even though this sacrifices a sea view, it was relaxing to lie in bed listening to the waves!

Warm welcome and warm home from home

The house on Nicol Terrace was well appointed and warm and the welcome pack was just what we needed! Furnishings were comfortable and in excellent condition and the heating was very effective and responsive. The house is in an excellent position in Cromarty and the peace and stillness was wonderful.

We had everything we needed to make our stay a happy and comfortable one, including hot water bottles (not needed during a wonderful September week!) and we certainly intend to return-
