About the property

Holiday home in quiet east end of Cromarty

This two bed cottage is one of four originally built in 1896 as new housing for some of the Cromarty fisher families and retains the old red sandstone walls. Extended and modernised over the years, Nicol Terrace Cotttage is an ideal base for a relaxing Highland holiday, only a short walk away from the shore front with its stunning views of Cromarty Bay and the Sutors.

The historic and attractive village of Cromarty is a wonderful holiday destination with a range of shops, cafes and restaurants (all within walking distance of the cottage), and a number of visitor attractions including Hugh Miller’s Cottage, the Cromarty Courthouse, the Cromarty Brewery and Cromarty Pottery.

From exploring the beaches and coastline to mountain biking at nearby Learnie Red Rock there are a number of activities to enjoy during your self-catering holiday. Chanonry Point, the well-known dolphin watching spot, is ten miles away, and many fantastic links golf courses can be found in the area. During the summer you can take the car and passenger ferry to Nigg and Easter Ross, where you can explore Dornoch, Tain and the Northern Highlands.

Lovely location, would stay here again.

A cosy, well equipped cottage which was perfect for a family of 2 adults and a teenager.

The wi-fi connection was excellent during our stay and enabled us to load photos onto Facebook, etc with no difficulties. We had no mobile phone signal in the cottage which was bliss! We particularly appreciated the BBQ provided and the outdoor patio space at the rear of the property which was a lovely space to eat out in after a busy day dolphin spotting, And it was helpful to have an efficient washing machine and separate tumble dryer during our stay. The kitchen includes a dining table, although we didn't use the table because we either ate outside or visited local eateries in the village.

The cottage is located in a quiet courtyard type setting just a few steps away from the seafront which offers fabulous views of the Sutors and Cromarty Firth. There are some lovely walks from and around Cromarty which we enjoyed. And the local pub, the harbour with the Royal Hotel and SutorsCreek restaurant are all within easy walking distance of the cottage. Whilst walking round the village we found the locals to be friendly and welcoming, always happy to pass the time of day and have a chat about village life or things to do in the area. A lovely bunch of people!

Excellent information on the local area was provided in the cottage so no need to seek out a local tourist information centre, and the owners were friendly and helpful.

We would highly recommend this cottage and hope, one day, to return.

Nicol Terrace

Excellent, quiet family home in lovely location in a very friendly town. The house has everything you'd need.

Cromarty itself is full of hidden delights, try the pirate graveyard, not far from the cottage.

Good

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was fantastic. The only difficult thing was that the bunk bed, though an adult size, did not have enough height for the person on the bottom bunk to sit up properly. Other than that the cottage was very comfy, thank you.

Cosy cottage in quiet location.

  • 4 of 5

A well positioned, probably former fisherman's cottage perhaps?

The cottage was neat, tidy and clean with the basic amenities for a reasonably comfortable stay.

Exactly what we needed for a weekend away

  • 4 of 5

Just what we needed for the Black Isle fiddle weekend.

The most friendly and helpful people. Lovely neighbours and the local shop went the extra mile for us when we needed a tick remover. Great weekend. Thanks.
