Brantrake House is a 17th century property situated in a secluded and peaceful location within the Eskdale valley. The house comprises 4 double bedrooms and is set back from the nearest road. The house has a large well appointed living room with fabulous views all round and a large kitchen and with slate floor combined with up to date amenities including washing machine dryer, heating, wood burning stove, dishwasher and wifi. There is a private and sheltered walled garden to the front side and rear and private parking for several cars.

stayed for 3 nights and couldn't fault the house or location. The house is well equipped and very homely. A mile walk to a great pub with good quality meals, a decent shop is not much further on from the pub. Great access to south Lakeland, but there are some lovely walks nearby. Would stay again for sure.

A perfect getaway in an amazing location

We had a great week in Brantrake House. It's a lovely and well furnished house, the location is fantastic. Good pub and shop nearby. A great location for getting into the mountains. Great value - a place we'd definitely think about staying in again.

Its a very quiet location with dramatic scenery and away from the crowds. The setting for the House with fells all around and views across to Muncaster Fell and beyond is very beautiful as are the sunsets. The local area also benefits from a micro climate where the sun shines more often than further inland. There are many walks from this location ranging from gentle riverside low level and to the highest and most dramatic in England.

Coast/Beach:

The seaside fishing village of Ravenglass is approximately 3 miles away

Travel:

use of a car is recommended. The nearest railway station is Ravenglass approximately 3 miles away or eskdale green on the eskdale to ravenglass steam railway just half a mile away

Distances:

Eskdale Green is approximately 1 mile away and has a village shop with newspapers and day to day provisions.

Broughton in Furness is approximately 20 minutes drive and has a range of interesting local shops including post office, butcher, bakers/cafe, restaurant, greengrocer/delicatessen, outdoor clothing and petrol station.

Gosforth is some 15 minutes drive also has a wide range of shops and places to eat

Further Details:

The house is situated beneath Birker fell and within the Eskdale valley and there are many walks and climbs directly from the property or a short drive away.

Places of interest include Ravenglass-Eskdale railway, Muncaster Castle, coastal wildlife sanctuaries, Hardknott fort, numerous mountains lakes and tarns including Scafell and Wastwater.

There are 5 pubs all of which serve food within 3 miles the nearest being half a mile away.
