Pond Cottage at Tregaminion near Porthallow is a compact, light and airy modern barn conversion with beautiful sea views across the extensive gardens and wooded valley. It is situated within a courtyard surrounded by extensive gardens and open countryside. Adjacent dedicated parking area.

The level access front door leads into an open-plan, high ceiling, living/dining/kitchen area that is floor-tiled throughout.

The kitchen area is well equipped with quality ceramic sink, fridge with small freezer compartment, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, electric fan oven/grill with 4-ring hob and extractor. There is a lowered breakfast bar with 2 dining chairs.

The living area also gives access to the brand new sunroom and patio with uninterrupted sea views down the valley and out across the bay. The lounge area has a two-seater sofa, wicker armchair, wall-mounted flame effect electric fire, 32” flat screen HD TV with Sky+ HD (including Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Catch-up TV, & Sky Movies on Demand), DVD player, cordless telephone, iPod dock, and free WiFi internet.

The bedroom is fully carpeted and has a 5ft kingsize bed with a pocket sprung mattress and a choice of a summer or winter weight duvets, or single duvets if preferred, extra pillows and blanket, towelling robes and hair dryer. Small double half-shelved wardrobe, wicker armchair, full-length mirror, cordless telephone, and 20” Freeview flat screen TV.

The fully tiled bathroom has low-sided bath with powerful mixer shower and sliding glass shower screen, WC, heated towel rail, washbasin with shaver point and heated mirror.

Outside on the patio is a hardwood table and chairs with patio umbrella. Guests are also welcome to make use of a further half-acre garden and large pond area where there is further seating at various vantage points.

Pond Cottage is one of four converted farm buildings within a courtyard setting. Two of these properties are also available as holiday cottages (Stable Cottage property no. 1841315, and Nanteague property no. 1835058, both for couples only). The owners live in the other barn so are available to give advice and help at most times (including ferrying guests to the start of a one-way walk).

Rental includes bedlinen, towels, electricity, WiFi, free telephone calls to normal landlines in UK and 25 countries worldwide, and underfloor central heating for out of season lets,

                                                        Beautiful view, immaculate cottage in pristine garden

                                                        The cottage was well-equipped and spacious for 2 people thanks to the recently-added sunroom. It also had outdoor seating and dining areas, and we were free to wander the beautifully-kept gardens. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and glad to recommed local walks and places to visit.

                                                        If there are any drawbacks at all, the only pub within walking distance (Five Pilchards, Porthallow, using a woodland path which could be muddy in wet weather) is adequate but no more for food, so eating out requires a car and nearby St Keverne only has limited choices. This worked for us as we were happy to eat out at lunch and dine at home in the evening; we would recommend others to do this.

                                                        Perfect location, fantastic converted stable. Plenty of space for two. The conservatory makes it special, even a rainy day is not a spoiled day.

                                                        The owners were very helpful and their proposals where to go and what to do made it easy for us to have a great time on the Lizard.

                                                        Porthallow, Helston, UK

                                                        Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pond Cottage at Tregaminion is located between St Keverne and Porthallow Cove amongst farmland and woods. A rich variety of wildlife may be seen including barn owls, buzzards, woodpeckers and countless other birds, badgers and foxes and the resident Muscovy duck and occasional visiting Mallards and Moorhens! We provide binoculars in the property. On clear nights the lack of street lighting allows breathtaking views of the night-sky. The footpath to Porthallow beach runs along the perimeter of the property through the woods and fields and takes about 10 minutes. In the other direction the path will leads to St Keverne - taking about 25 mins. Porthallow and nearby St Keverne are quiet, tranquil villages situated on the East of the Lizard Peninsula. Porthallow is an unspoilt and uncrowded former pilchard fishing village with a pebble beach and crystal clear bathing water, and is location of the mid-way marker for the South West Coastal Footpath. Uninterrupted sea view across Falmouth Bay to Pendennis Castle and St Mawes and further along the souh Cornish coast. Next to the beach is the renowned Five Pilchards Inn - free house serving a good variety of guest ales, lunches and evening meals. Drop in at the Fat Apples Cafe just up the hill for teas, coffees, hot snacks, sandwiches, and ice creams. Nearby is the Porthkerris Dive Centre providing excellent diving on numerous wrecks and the Manacle reef, and basking shark spotting boat trips (in season) . St Keverne is a traditional Cornish village with a central square, church, two pubs, Greenhouse restaurant, Post Office, convenience store, newsagent, butcher, and Health Centre. Frequent evening concerts by the award winning St Keverne Band. Famous Ox Roast every August. Roskillys ice-cream made at nearby Tregellast Barton organic farm - see the Jersey cows being milked and watch the ice cream production, sample its delightful produce - fudges, jams, chutneys and homemade meals at the Croust House then walk through their wooded pond and fields. Coastal villages of Coverack, Cadgwith, Lizard, Mullion Cove, Porthleven nearby. Sandy beaches at Rosenithon (1 mile SE of Stable Cottage), Coverack, Kennack, Kynance, and Mullion. Many traditional pubs in the area serving local ales and home made meals. Some excellent restaurants on The Lizard and in Porthleven including a 2-rosette restaurant at Trelowarren. Many serving fresh seafood. Diving at Porthkerris, sailing at Helford and St Anthony, sea angling, surfing, horse riding, bike hire. 18-hole links golf course at Mullion. Other local attractions - National Seal Sanctury at Gweek, Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose with viewing enclosure (Air Day on 30th July 2015), National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. Trebah, Glendurgan, Trelissick, Trengwainton Gardens. Lighthouse at The Lizard Point and visit the most southerley cafe for fresh crab sandwiches, fresh caught fish meals, home made doughnuts with clotted cream! Slightly further a field, St Michael's Mount, St Ives with the Tate Gallery, Mousehole, Minack open-air theatre at Porthcurno, and Land's End. Cornwall's unique characteristics have evolved from its remote location as the most southwesterly county in Great Britain and being almost surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Famous for its areas of outstanding natural beauty: stunning coastline,wildlife, coastal footpaths, beaches, quaint fishing harbours, wooded valleys and creeks. Its very mild climate seldom getting too hot or cold has allowed a wealth of spectacular gardens to thrive.
