Everything available you could want. The unit was spacious and well laid out. We were able to keep all sliding doors open day and night, a nice breeze constantly blowing tthrough the screen porch. Large screen tv with premium channels. Bed was awesome, really comfortable. Nice kitchen, bath, and shower. We brought our own kayaks and used them everyday but he also supplies kayaks, bikes, beach chairs you name it it was there. TERRIFIC place. We will be back. Thanks!
My husband and stayed here for our honeymoon and enjoyed it very much. We loved the peacefulness. The porch was our favorite part of the house. We spent a lot of our time there. The owner has canoes and kayaks available to use as well as beach gear (chairs, umbrella, and umbrella). It was a wonderful, relaxing week.
As others have reviewed here, this was a well- appointed and well-maintained property. Having internet allowed us monitor work from afar while relaxing in a lovely setting. Only 1 block off of the Overseas Highway, I was concerned about ambient noise, but it was not an issue. It just made the access much easier. We loved kayaking around the lake and out to the ocean, spotting interesting wildlife along then way. Just a note: this is one of 4 units in the building so some of the amenities listed here are actually shared. I this notba problem, but just nice to know in advance.
We loved our stay on Long Key. Jerry provided the perfect spot for us to relax, enjoy nature and learn all about the rest of the Florida Keys. What a fabulous place. We highly recommend a stay here. And Jerry is a fabulous guide. His enthusiasm for the area and for the park and the opportunities to see nature up close is absolutely infectious.
Jerry greeted us like old friends when we arrived, and was genuinely excited to show us around. The place was EXACTLY as pictured in the ad, and we couldn't believe how well he'd provisioned it for his guests: kayaks, snorkeling equipment, binoculars -- even coolers and chairs for picnics! He also gave us great recommendations for local parks, places to eat, and sights to see.
We enjoyed paddling around the mangroves, and saw numerous fish and a couple of horseshoe crabs. When the outer reaches of Hurricane Sandy brought strong winds and rain one day, we were still able to enjoy the screened porch for reading, eating, and playing cards while staying 'high and dry' -- a real plus.
Our only regret was that we had to leave such a cozy, tranquil place after just one week; it's a little slice of Heaven!
Enjoyed our visit here immensely. Unit was clean and thoughtfully appointed, The bed was even comfortable! Having the kayaks to use was a real bonus. A very pleasant and peaceful place. We saw lots of cool wildlife, but the best was after dark in the water. Bioluminescent critters of some sort were everywhere! Flashing on and off, some leaving pretty little swirl patterns. Endlessly entertaining. I would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks so much! Jo McMillan
