Stunning House With Sea Views

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

4 Bedroom, Sea Views. Sleeps 8.

Vindelis House is part of our Olympic legacy, home to the Swedish sailing team during the sailing events in 2012. A great location for water sports enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, rock climbing, bird watching and of course, perfect for simply for relaxing.

Internally, the spacious living areas are completed to a high standard with oak flooring, porcelain tiles and quality modern furnishings throughout. The sizeable master bedroom and living room offer beautiful views over Chesil Beach, extending out across the English Channel, The Fleet and Weymouth Bay. Externally, the enclosed private garden is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring and is great for children.

Vindelis House is within walking distance to the cafes, art houses, pubs and general shops of Portland. Also within a short walk is the truly magnificent Chesil Beach – an 18 mile long shingle beach of National Heritage importance. The new international Marina is a five minute walk from the house and diving trips operate from here. Kite-surfing, sailing and windsurfing are among the water sports available. At the end of the road is Osprey Leisure Centre, offering an indoor swimming pool, gym, squash courts and other leisure activities. The iconic Portland Bill lighthouse is a nearby visitors’ attraction.

The traditional Georgian seaside town of Weymouth can be reached within a 15 minute drive. The glorious stretch of golden sandy beach is complete with traditional Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides in the summer.

Weymouth offers an abundance of high street shops, with a large department store alongside small independent shops, boutiques and restaurants. Brimming with attractions for family fun, visit the Sea Life Park and Marine Sanctuary or take in a show at the Pavilion Theatre.

About Maxine Spencer

We live in North London, Matthew works in Canary Wharf and I work locally, life is so busy, busy, busy. Our kids are at Prep School and with their sports activities and clubs, our diaries are jam-packed.

We drive over to Portland with "I am Sailing" by Rod Stewart on the C.D. and watch the colourful sails of the windsurfers and kite surfers as they belt along at speed. We spot the Laser Pico boats. For us, it is crossing onto a different world and leaving the stress of London behind momentarily.

Maxine Spencer purchased this house in 2013

Why Maxine Spencer chose Portland

What a whirlwind, we bought Santiago House (Owners Direct Property 8130535) in 2012 and it was so popular, we couldn't get in! We stumbled across Vindelis House on Portland and WOW - The views!!! That is what sold it to us, the fresh air, the uncomplicated nature of Portland and to stretch our eyes across the horizon of the sea. Favourite time is simply watching the sunset, glass of wine in hand.

What makes this house unique

Being so close to the National Sailing Academy (5 minute walk) introduced our son and daughter to sailing at an early age. Every opportunity they sail with the Andrew Simpson Sailing Academy, a totally inspiring place.

Wonderful spacious house excellently furnished and equipped.

Maxine went out of her way to make our family stay here special. House spacious with roomy communal spaces plenty big enough for 8 people. All the gear you would need to cater for and entertain the family. 5 min walk from portland harbour and chesil beach. House over 4 floors so layout takes a bit of getting used to.. and downstairs twin rather chilly but overall a fantastic modern property.

Owner's Response: Heidi, Thank you for your super review and it is so great to hear your stay was special at Jurassica House with your family for Christmas. We could have boosted the heating for the lower ground floor remotely, I wish you had got in touch, it would have been an easy fix. It would be our pleasure to have you come and stay again, as you were a delight to liaise with. Best wishes for the New Year.

Beautiful property with fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

Spacious house spread over 4 floors with beautiful views to Chesil sands and Portland harbour. Well equipped kitchen, fantastic view from lounge, garden and master bedroom, plenty of room for 7adults and a baby. Clean and well presented throughout with comfortable beds. If you struggle with stairs not ideal but ideal for asthma sufferers as only carpet is on stairs.

So, so clean and lovely!

  • 5 of 5

What a great house. The view from the massive window in the living room is gorgeous, we saw the most amazing sunsets. Great location for the sailing centre and great hiking routes nearby. The Cove pub and Quiddles were also a hit and only 5 minute walk away. This place is more than a standard rental house it is a well equipped home with everything you could possibly want and so, so clean. Also, we parked 4 cars on the driveway. Recommend highly.
