About Robert & Linda Moore Roblin Landings

Welcome to our vacation home!

We live in Marshalltown, Iowa, and we are both retired from the Iowa Valley Community College District in Marshalltown, where Linda was a Library Supervisor and Bob was a Professor of Psychology. We both continue to teach psychology classes part time. We also do a great deal of volunteer work in our community:

--Linda is focusing on kids, our local Orpheum Theater and our annual Jean Seberg Festival.

--Bob serves on the boards of arts and cultural activities, is helping to catalog the Orpheum Stage and Screen and Jean Seberg collection, and is even dabbling a bit in art himself!

--We both love to travel. and in recent years we have been to Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, and Belgium, Key West, a Caribbean cruise, Cuba, and Merida, Yucatan!

Linda has two adult sons, one in Mason City, IA, and one in Portland, OR. Bob has three adult daughters, two in Orlando, FL, and one on Daniel Island, SC. We have four wonderful grandsons and a super-duper step-granddaughter (we call her our gift granddaughter!).

When we are not traveling to see kids, we spend a lot of time (and our children's inheritance) on house renovation, both in Marshalltown and on our condo. We also love to travel and have in the past few years been to The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Key West, and Cuba. We recently cruised in the Bahamas, departing from Cape Canaveral, FL. The young lady in the picture with us is our first exchange student. Priscilla is from The Netherlands and she loved traveling with us to Amelia Island and elsewhere in America!

Robert & Linda Moore Roblin Landings purchased this condo in 2005

Why Robert & Linda Moore Roblin Landings chose Northeast Florida

Since we have daughters and grandkids living in the Orlando and Charleston areas, we wanted a place roughly half way between the two locations. Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island is just perfect for us! We winter in the condo and rent it out the remainder of the year.

What makes this condo unique

All the comforts of a (ok, small, 850 SF) home, at rates that will surprise you! Senior and military discounts, return visitor discount, a free one-week stay after six stays with us, and occasional 'surprise specials' such as our amazing '20% Black Hole' or "Last-Minute specials--just ask!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our trip to Amelia Island was amazing. Our intent was to travel to the upper East coast of Florida and explore this historic area while having a little "beach time" too. Our three nights here was not enough to fully examine all the area has to offer, so we must return!

The condo itself was PERFECT for our needs - cleanliness is very important to me and the condo did not disappoint. The quiet, restful surroundings made us feel "at home" right away. There was plenty of room for our three adults; the kitchen was well stocked, beds/pillows were very comfortable and the washer/dryer helped us prepare for the next leg of our journey further South down the coast. While there are plenty of restaurants nearby, we cooked all of our breakfasts and evening meals at the condo. We maximized our time on Amelia Island for exploring, yet had a couple of hours each day for pool-time reading and early morning walks on the beach as well as an early evening walk on the beach each day. We walked the pathway to the beach the first day, but discovered there was a parking lot right at the beach and utilized it for most of our beach trips. (we are older adults....ha) The screened in porch was perfect for evening gatherings or morning coffee....and of course more reading.

Some things we enjoyed on this trip: Lunch at Brett's Waterway Cafe in Fernandina Beach Harbor, lunch at the Salty Pelican (restaurants only serve locally harvested shrimp and wow, can you tell a difference - it is amazing!), a boat tour on the St. Mary's River with Captain Pajama Dave which included a cruise up one side of Cumberland Island and alongside Fort Clinch (what a hoot he is and absolutely full of historical information). We shopped in the historic downtown, and made driving loops down all the one way streets to see tons of beautiful old historic homes with yards full of gorgeous flowers. And of course the beach - miles of beautiful white sand with easy access.

Thank you Robert and Linda for a very comfortable stay at your home on Amelia Island!

Lovely retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful get away. Very peaceful and so close to everything. We enjoyed having breakfast on the screened in porch. You could walk to the beach, but we drove, a 2 minute drive. We will look forward to our next visit. This place is a keeper.

Owner's Response: And this review is a keeper too! We certainly agree about the short walk or drive to the beach. We don't carry beach gear with us when we go to the beach, so we just walk it in about 8 minutes (give or take depending upon how much we dawdle along the way!). If you drive, there is plenty of parking at the access point or just onto the beach (one of the very few places on the Island where you are allowed to drive on the beach at all, and then it is only for a very short distance).

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this rental. The screened in porch was great, as we had some rain and enjoyed our coffee and reading listening to the cicadas. The beach is a short walk away, but we could drive our truck right onto the beach if we wanted. As there was a nasty storm when we were there, it was not suggested we swim in the ocean, our family had a great time swimming in the pool. It's lovely and warm, and very few people. This condo is in a great location, super clean, quiet and well maintained. We are already looking at our calendar for next summer, and hoping to stay here for more than just three nights. Thanks for a great place!

Relaxing!

Had a great time. This home is in a quiet friendly setting with a nice pool, and beach nearby. The home is well cared for and I loved having my coffee in the screened in porch. We hope to return for a longer stay soon.

Functional, Well-Equipped, Convenient Location, and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

The condo was great for us and our nieces. It was a close walk to the beach and a very close walk to the pool, and very convenient to Amelia Island attractions. Communication with the owners was very good. If we are back in the area we would definitely rent again!

Great stay at this property on July 27-28, 2017

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this condo in Amelia Landings on July 27-28th. The directions and information we received on the condo were very self explanatory and timely. We did not need to talk with the owners or anyone else during our stay. The kitchen was well-equipped. The screened porch was a very nice feature considering their were a few rain storms during our stay. The beach access was very convenient with a short secluded walk. We took several walks along the beach each day. The parking was very close to the unit. We spent time going to the downtown area and went on two excellent Amelia Island River cruises. One was along the shoreline of Cumberland island which was fantastic. The other was a BYOB cruise with music. The condo was very close to activities in Amelia Island. We did not have any trouble getting our deposit back electronically. I would certainly stay at this condo again when returning to Amelia Island.

Memories Made at Amelia Landing

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at Bob and Linda's condo! The kitchen was well equipped with what we needed to prepare breakfast daily and a few simple meals. The beds are comfortable. Sitting on the screened porch became a habit. Wifi and cable were nice additions. The community is quiet and enjoyable. The kids really enjoyed the pool - almost as much as they did the ocean which is really just a short walk away.
