This historic home in West Falmouth village is accessible to all your needs. Within a short walking distance you will find:
The 100 year old West Falmouth Market which has outside tables to enjoy breakfast and/or lunch
A few doors down is located a day spa and hair salon
Across the street is an old fashioned ice cream shop and historic Methodist Church
Further down Rte. 28A horseback riding is available
In the other direction, historic West Falmouth Library (offering WIFI) abuts the property and less than a mile beyond is Chapoquoit Grill, a local favorite for dinners.
Beyond the Grill is the entrance to the well-known Falmouth Shining Sea Bike Path which takes one through breath taking scenery to the lovely village of Woods Hole.
Lastly but arguably the most appealing aspect of this rental location is the favorite resident beach, Chapoquoit Beach. Its sandy shores offer magnificent nightly sunsets.
All this is .6 of a mile away! Now, in 2010 the bike path goes from North Falmouth to Woods Hole. You can get on it around the corner from my house!!
This well-equipped 3 room apartment, located on the second floor, includes a bedroom with a queen sized bed and full private bath. A kitchen for dining in as well as an additional room which is perfect for reading or watching TV completes this apartment!
My husband and I stayed at the Sea Captain's home last week. We were greeted by Anne when we arrived. She was most kind and left us plenty of food for breakfasts (fruits, english muffins, butter, jam, cream for coffee, OJ, yogurt). That was awesome! the place was larger than I thought it would be. And very clean and comfortable. There is a library right next door. About 4 doors down is a little market. They also make sandwiches there. Across the street from there is an ice cream shop and a coffee shop. The ice cream shop closed for the season last week and the coffee shop will be open until October. There is coffee in the house, so you can make your own. Very close by is the entrance to the bike path. Biking to Woods Hole is 3.9 miles. It is paved and flat. If you are more adventurous, take your bike to Marthas vineyard and bike from Oaks Bluff to Edgartown and back to Oaks Bluff. Beautiful ride. The entire ride from the house is 26.5 miles! The Beach is also nearby. Downtown is about a ten minute ride. You won't find a better location if you are looking to bike and go to the beach. Would definitely stay here again.
Anne and her daughter were very welcoming hosts, some breakfast items were waiting for us and they even drove us to town a couple of times. The rooms were very sweet and full of character and it was really nice having a kitchen. The location was great as we could walk to the market, ice cream shop and the beach. Overall it was a great stay.
We had a lovely stay in the apartment in Anne's historic home -- which is chock full of charm and cozy furnishings. Anne made us feel right at home with tomatoes from her garden, breakfast goods, and plenty of tips on places to visit and things to do in the area. The property is within walking distance or short drive to almost any Cape experience you are seeking. The Chapoquoit Beach sunset is the best!
Wonderful stay! My fiance and I had a great three night stay here. The aspartment was very nice and lots of room. Bigger than looks in the pictures. Anne was very nice and spent some time telling us about local spots and good restuarants. The beach was in walking distance, we took early morning and evening strolls on the nearby bike path.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Sea Captain's home. We came to Falmouth to visit our son who is working a summer job with College Light Opera Company. We were able to see a couple of shows during our trip which was a treat! We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the charm of this older home. Long before we ever got to Falmouth, Anne answered a few questions for us that helped us in the planning of our trip. Our kitchen was well-stocked with breakfast foods and also was perfect for preparing a couple of dinners. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach and loved the warmer water of the Atlantic. Would definitely stay here again if we are able to come back for a visit!
We just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Sea Captain's Home. The apartment was much bigger than we expected. We had a bedroom, kitchen and sweet seating/TV room as well as another bedroom in which to roam around. The ceilings were low - but tall enough to accommodate my 6'1" husband.
Although our family has vacationed in the West Falmouth area for over 20 years, Anne was able to give us some points of interest that we had previously missed. The location is perfect - within walking distance of the Shining Seas Bikeway; a short distance to Chapoquoit Beach; the fabulous West Falmouth Market is a few doors down and next door is the West Falmouth Library.
Anne is a delightful hostess who is eager to share her love of Cape Cod with all. I would definitely recommend staying with her and would love to make a return trip.
