A traditionally tall Alsatian House with four storeys of care and attention-to-detail make Maison Bellevue truly a place for fond memories. Three completely self-contained apartments filled with comfortable furniture, a beautiful sunny terrace and courtyard, central heating and plenty of parking. All apartments have panoramic views of the Munster valley and the mountains beyond.

This picturesque property backs onto a natural forest containing a variety of wildlife and a crystal clear stream running it’s length. Maison Bellevue is a leisurely 5 minute walk to the town square where one can stock up on delicious local produce from artisan bakeries, delis or from the Tue and Sat weekly produce market.

The property is well situated in the Munster valley and with easy access to the town - great views.

We have had a great stay in Alsace and would recommend the area and Maison Bellevue, without any reservations. First impressions were that the property is a little dated. However, it was clean, well appointed and everything worked. Gabrielle and her family were lovely hosts with a wealth of local knowledge and ready with recommendations for the whole area, including the Munster Valley and wine route. We were immediately furnished with a card that gave discounts for a number of activities within the local area. There is great walking, cycling and eating to be done. The towns in the Rhine valley are stunning, a wealth of history to understand and the local auberge provide a fantastic place to eat up in the hills. The water park in Munster is great fun. A week was not long enough!

Peaceful yet so close to Munster

  • 4 of 5

Very welcoming on arrival. Met by Yoli, we stayed in the top floor. Enough space for the 2 of us, petite small balcony which we used for eating our meals on. Very handy to walk into Munster, which has all the usual amenities. Supermarket is less than 5 mins drive away. Access to walking paths are literally on the door step, but we also travelled around 5 miles to enjoy the fantastic walking that this area has. The apartment is fully equipped &a nothing was short. The only negative I would say is, some visitors would want the decor updating. But it suited us fine and had a fab walking holiday. Thanks to Yoli and her hubby

Charming, convenient, and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

We--two couples from Ohio--shared an apartment in Maison Bellevue for a week, from 13 May to 20 May 2017. Munster was the perfect location for exploring Alsace, just a short drive from Colmar and the wonderful wine villages and historic sites, a little further from Strasbourg but quite manageable. And it is quiet, less filled with tourists than those places. You probably do need to rent a car, but that's true for Alsace generally, since so much of what you will want to see is off the beaten path. Gabrielle and Yoli are wonderful hosts: there's a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare meals from the local markets, including the farmers markets on Tuesday and Saturday. And each bedroom on our floor had its own private shower. All told Maison Bellevue is a wonderful place and a great value.

Perfect French village home away from home in Munster, Alsace.

  • 4 of 5

At Bellevue Maison our family party of five enjoyed a fabulous 6 night stay in the charming, well appointed and comfortable 2nd floor apartment. We had the use of two outdoor terraces with stunning views across the town to the surrounding mountains. The kitchen had everything needed to make our own meals, and the charming dining area was the perfect set-up to enjoy them. The beds were comfortable, the two bathroom (areas) were adequate, the water hot when it needed to be! Our hosts were friendly and helpful in every respect. From this location we were able, with a car, to access many wonderful places of interest and beauty. All in all a most successful sojourn.

Owner's Response: Thank you Derry for your review. It was a pleasure to host you and your family. You actually stayed in what is our 1st floor apartment, I know it is called differently in Australia. We are happy you choose Munster in Alsace as an easy place to meet, as some of you were coming from different places in Europe. We like to encourage people to use the extensive French network. And Maison Bellevue being only 500 meters from the station makes it easy .

Lovely views over one of the nicest places in Europe

  • 5 of 5

This holiday apartment has one bedroom plus a sofa bed in the living room, and is located on the top floor of a 4 storey house with a fascinating history and wonderful views across the valley. The apartment felt very cosy and was well equipped. It is walking distance from the shops and restaurants of Munster, a characterful Alsacian town. Gabrielle, the owner, speaks fluent English as well as German and French, so was easy to communicate with. She was very prompt and complete in her correspondence with me. She was very warm and welcoming when we arrived. The house, gardens and fishing lake were built up by the Gabrielle's father who used to run it as a hotel and restaurant. I was told her father would take restaurant orders for trout then run to the lake to catch them fresh. It no longer provides fish for restaurants, but we had a lovely evening eating our self cooked bbq dinner next to the lake. We had fun exploring the wonderful wine trail and stopping along the way for tasting and buying a few bottles of the local wines in the many charming and flowery villages. We especially liked the smokey Pinot Grigio snd some of the excellent Pinot Noir that is produced on the hills behind the town. We also were within easy driving distance from Colmar and Strasbourg, both major cities worth a visit. As two semi-retired professionals this worked well for us. We even had chance to improve our fitness walking up the steep hill to the house about 100 yards from the car park, and climbing the steep stairs to our eyrie with its magnificent views.

Beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

A nice apartment with beautiful views. Our 4 year old loved the garden and running round the lake, our hosts were very friendly and helpful with any enquiry, I wished to hire a bike so Yoli kindly rang the bike hire place to arrange as my French isn't the best! The Vosges Mountains are a cyclists dream, hundreds of miles of mountain bike tracks through the forests, also for road cyclists I'd highly recommend, so many good quality roads snaking there way over the mountains.

Munster is a lovely town, surrounded by forested mountains. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk and a couple of big supermarkets nearby. I'd recommend a visit to the local swimming pool just 5 minutes walk away, very clean and modern and with a great waterslide. Further afield, a beautiful lake at Gerardmer where you can hire boats, a 40 minute drive over the mountain... We were lucky with the weather, beautiful.

We all enjoyed our visit to Alsace and hope to go back soon!

Owner's Response: It is our ultimate recompense to read of guests expressing their desire to come back,. It is hard to leave the valley when the weather is perfect, enjoying both the immediate natural surroundings on our property and the famed Munster valley. We have more and more guests coming specifically to cycle our beautiful roads, and we offer easy bicycle storage. But there is also a whole world to explore indoors in Alsace, with our very original museums and castles.
