**** NEW LISTING ****Coomb View has recently been refurbished in a contemporary style to create a stunning holiday home which is set in a rural location on a 100 acre farm. Our holiday home offers peace and tranquillity which is perfect for a relaxing break after a busy day of sightseeing and activities that both the Lake District and Yorkshire National Parks has to offer. Our guests have easy access to the Lakes and Mountains, Market Towns of Kendal and Sedbergh, both provide numerous amenities. With only 4 miles to the nearest junction of the M6 transport links for our guests living in the Northern Towns and Cities are very accessible. Manchester and Liverpool being 1 hour 15 minutes drive away and a 50 minute drive away from Scotch Corner on the A1 for the North East.

Coomb View offers contemporary open plan living including a Fully Fitted Black High Gloss Kitchen complete with Island, Dining and Living area for four guests on the first floor to take advantage of the stunning rural views. The Living Area is furnished with leather sofas, coffee table and a 50" TV, DVD and CD Player for the home entertainment of our Guests.

On the Ground Floor are Two bedrooms and a Family Bathroom. Each Bedroom has access to a outdoor patio area which enjoys morning sunlight. Bedroom One is a Double and Bedroom Two can be arranged as one Kingsize or a Twin Room depending on your individual requirements. An additional sleeping position is available if required on a sofabed in the upstairs Living Area.

Coomb View has access to private patio area with table and chairs to enjoy outdoor living and enjoy the dark night skies without urban orange glow. To the side of our barn conversion is a large lawned area and country garden complete with secure private parking for two cars.

About Brian & Diane Potter

Let us introduce ourselves our names are Brian and Diane and we have two teenagers. We live on a 100 acre farm just outside Kendal on the edge of the Lake District and as a family we enjoy walking, travelling and spending time in this outstanding area of beauty.

We undertook an extensive programme of converting our attached barn to create a home to an extremely high standard and wish to share all the benefits of this beautiful area and our holiday home has to offer

Having lived in Cumbria all of our lives we feel the peaceful and tranquil location of our barn conversion is perfect for a relaxing break as well as having the Lakes and Mountains on our doorstep. Coomb View offers everything in a stunning location. Something we have never tired off or taken for granted !

What makes this barn unique

The area and scenery is amazing and we feel very fortunate to be able to live and work here !! The surrounding area and its abundance of attractions and activities will appeal to families, couples, walkers and cyclists.

The M6 motorway is very accessible and Rail and Transport Links are excellent.

  • We have two bedrooms, each have patio doors which lead to a gravelled patio area overlooking our country garden. Perfect to enjoy the morning sun ! Bedroom One is a double bedroom with a fitted wardrobe, bedside tables and a chest of drawers. There is also a full length mirror. Bedroom Two is a twin bedroom which also can be linked to create a King Size depending on your personal requirements. A double wardrobe, bedside tables and a full length mirror Each bedroom also has hairdryers.

My family and I were very impressed with this holiday home. It was modern, clean, contemporary and excellent value for money. The location is remote enough to feel away from it all, but still within commuting distance of local amenities. The hosts provided complimentary items such as, toiletries, drinks, and cookies which is a nice touch. Being more of a hotel family, the process of booking this get-away was straight forward and user friendly with clear and concise information at all stages. I would recommend this cottage.

Lovely, well equipped cottage!

We had a lovely stay in the cottage with our two young sons, Brian and Diane were really accommodating with the boys and even offered to move furniture around for us so our youngest wouldn't bump his head!

The cottage itself is really well decorated and we had everything we needed while staying there, the added touch of having access to the leisure facilities at the riverside hotel was great and the boys loved going for a swim, there was plenty of parking at the hotel for us and we even had dinner there with the extra 10% off.

Beautiful House and Land

Truly wonderful experience during our stay in Kendal. The apartment is clean and well equipped and beautifully designed. Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating. The listing is exactly as described with all the amenities one would want on a vacation stay. Highly recommend this rental and it is worth more than the price tag in my opinion.

An excellent location for a short break

Absolutely fantastic house in a great location with very diligent owners. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and has everything you'd need for a break away. The use of a hotel gym and swimming pool is a real bonus as well. I'd agree with a previous review that being woken up at 8am by workmen wasn't ideal but understand there is other work going on around the house - perhaps the welcome pack should just mention this.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review and comments about Coomb View. We are so pleased you used the Hotel Gym and Leisure Club at the Riverside. Many of our guests do not use this facility as we are in the process of evaluating the value of this to our guests. Within the settlement here, there is a renovation of a derelict barn which will enhance the surrounding area once completed. We have assurances from the Contractors that any disruption to all of us as residents in the settlement will be kept to a minimum and certainly within normal working hours.

Exactly as advertised, clean, modern and a great base for exploring area.

The owners were welcoming and resolved a couple of very minor issues straight away. Would highly recommend a stay here, ideally located for the Lakes.

Our only recommendation would be a microwave but there was a very good oven and hob so a very minor point

Excellent Accommodations Beautiful Setting

Coomb View cottage surpassed our expectations. It was very convenient to services in Kendal. For the self catering experience, there is a a very modern supermarket and excellent shopping opportunities.

The cottage itself was very well-equipped and comfortably appointed. All the little bits and pieces that are required to start your stay were provided and the bottle of wine as a welcome was much appreciated

Great care was taken to provide a luxurious and well-designed home away from home.

The surrounding landscape and the sheep grazing on the hill outside the window while we were eating supper were particularly charming.

The location is perfect for day trips up to the lakes and our six night stay gave us ample time to really enjoy this part of the country.

The idea of being in a restored stone barn was the only part I felt a little deceptive. The place is so modern and luxurious that it felt like walking out of the John Constable painting it into an IKEA store.

This is simply a matter of personal taste and anyone staying here will find the accommodations first-rate.

Brian a little attention is needed for the faucet in the kitchen. It was very difficult to manage the water pressure control knob.

Everything else was near perfection ,and I highly recommend a stay at Coomb View.

Owner's Response: Coomb View has been converted from a disused stone barn using traditional methods and more importantly we have preserved the external appearance to match the rural and tranquil location and surroundings. The current trend in the UK for Home Design is contemporary and open plan living which is why we have designed the interior in this manner and have chosen key pieces from various leading UK home design stores such as Debenhams, Marks and Spencers, Next and Ikea to suit this style. Thank you for the heads up on the Faucet in the Kitchen (Kitchen Tap). The tap itself seems to be more of a design statement rather than the functionality of it. The stiffness of the controls have now been attended to. The location is perfect for both the North and South Lakes and the list of attractions nearby are endless. Kendal is only a stone throw away which provides all the amenities of supermarkets, banks, beauty salons, hairdressers and a mixture of shopping experiences. It was so lovely to have met you and hope you will return to the UK in the future.

A host of Family Days Out include Lakeland Maze Park Farm, Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, World of Beatrix Potter, Lakes Cruises, Motor Boat Hire, South Lakes Wildlife Park, Fell Foot Park on Lake Windermere. An abundance of free access to Lakes, Mountains, Forests and Moorland and for wet days you could enjoy many of the local museums, cinemas at Kendal, Bowness and Ambleside or even Ten Pin Bowling at Morecambe.

For those with plenty of energy for adventure Go Ape in the Grizedale Forest, Kayaking, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Climbing, Caving, Potholing, 4 x 4 Off Road Driving, Ghyll Scrambling to name just a few !! The list is endless
