Overview

About the property

2 Bed; 2 Bath; Well-Equpped; Large Garden; easy access to Cornwall's attraction

Springside Cottage is situated down a quiet country lane in the rural hamlet of Newhall Green, just two miles from the spectacular North Cornish coast. This well equipped traditional Cornish Quarryman's cottage, which retains much of its original charm, sleeps four adults comfortably in two bedrooms and benefits from off-road parking for several cars and a large private garden overlooking farmland. An ideal location with easy access to Cornwall's many attractions, including surfing, golfing and walking.

There is plenty to see and do for all ages within just a short drive of the cottage, local attractions at Bodmin, including Bodmin Jail and Pencarrow House, Port Isaac, and Wadebridge are all less than 12 miles, and Padstow, Newquay and Bude are about 30 minutes away.

And of course this area of Cornwall is renowned for the excellent food available in one of the many local restaurants and pubs. The only difficulty is choosing which one to go to!

Of the many beautiful beaches in North Cornwall, the closest to the cottage are Trebarwith Strand, Polzeath and Daymer Bay, all within a 10 minute drive. There are several excellent golf courses including Bowood Park, St Kew and St Enodoc nearby and other activities available locally such as kayaking, horse riding, or cycle along the Camel Trail. If you enjoy walking Camelford is one of the best locations from which you can access Bodmin Moor, or maybe walk from Polzeath or Daymer Bay along the footpath to Rock and take the ferry to Padstow for a well earned lunch before the returning. There many other fantastic walks along the Coastal Path, or explore Helland Barton Woods located almost on the doorstep of the cottage. At the end of the day it is a delight to return to the peace and tranquility of Springside, for a barbecue in the garden in the Summer, or during colder months, enjoy a cosy evening in front of the woodburner.

These are some of the genuine comments from our guests:

About Sam Muncer

We bought this beautiful cottage in 2009 as a family holiday retreat. Although we would like to spend all our time here, unfortunately work and studies mean that we can't. This allows us to share our little slice of Cornwall, and hope that others love it as much as we do.

Why Sam Muncer chose Delabole

On arrival to this cottage, you experience a feeling of immediate relaxation. Despite the rural location, everything that Cornwall has to offer is easily accessible. Newhall Green is a small hamlet and you will find that the locals are very friendly and will always be there to offer their expert opinions on the area. Whether you prefer walking across the moors, surfing on one of Cornwall's numerous beaches or simply experiencing Cornwall's culinary delights, you can't help but enjoy yourself . . . come rain or shine!

What makes this cottage unique

Springside is a traditional quarryman's cottage, we have equipped it with all that a modern family requires. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than enjoying a BBQ in the garden or spending a cosy evening in front of the wood burner in the lounge.

A beautifully refurbished traditional stone cottage.

  • 4 of 5

We were away during the heatwave in June and found the cottage lovely and cool after a day out walking. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped. The whole cottage was very well designed and comfortable but we found the double bedroom a bit too cramped so stayed in the twin bedded room. The downstairs shower worked well and the garden was spacious and convenient for hanging up washing. The main bugbear is that there is no wifi or internet connection. I think that this is an amenity which is expected by most visitors these days. If one wants a wifi free holiday there is no need to use it. It meant going to the pub in St Teath (where there is free wifi access) It's a great pub with friendly staff and locals. They have good food there as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the cottage and thank you to Tracy who welcomed us and was there to answer any questions etc.
