Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 bedrooms, 3 full baths, sleeps 4

Alemaigne Haus Cabin is a family built home and is located within the city limits of Helen on 1 and 1/2 acres only a couple of blocks behind the Helen Water Park, and Innsbruck Golf Resort. The cabin is less than a mile to downtown Helen which is a three-minute drive.

You'll love sitting on one of the two covered porches while listening to the sounds of the creek in the back yard. On most days you will see wild turkeys walking through the yard.

The Alemaigne Haus features two large bedrooms upstairs with a king size bed in the master and a queen size bed in the second bedroom, 26 inch LCD flat screen TV's, and a private full bath in each. The living room has a 55 inch LCD flat screen TV for your enjoyment and also free WI-FI service is provided. There's also a sitting room with a 32' flat screen LED TV with a PlayStation 2 for the kids to enjoy.

Have your morning cup of coffee at the breakfast island in the beautiful fully equipped kitchen. There's also a large full bath with a double vanity and a separate laundry room on the main level.

If you want the feeling of seclusion, but want to be close to all of Helen's activities, then this is the place for you.

The Alemaigne Haus is less than a mile from downtown Helen, and has paved road access. Some of our guests like walking to town, which takes approximately 15 or 20 minutes, or if you prefer to drive, it takes only three minutes. If walking, there's one slightly steep hill on the road leading to the cabin; however, the remainder of the walk is totally flat.

Stay at our cabin and you'll be glad you did. We hope that you will come again and again!

Privately Owned: This cabin is privately owned and managed. As owners, we want every guest to be as comfortable as possible and to enjoy their stay. We personally greet our guests at the front door upon arrival to show you around the cabin and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions.

We also provide maps, a travel guide, flyers of local attractions, and local restaurant menus for your convenience. We are never too far away if needed. Unlike property management companies, we take pride in our cabin, provide personal touches, and we want our guests to enjoy it as much as we do.

If your dates are not available on our calendar, see our other VRBO rental Listing #583038 in downtown Helen.

Perfect for our family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was conveniently located in Helen. Although there were surrounding homes, we were secluded enough we felt like we were in the woods. There were many different rooms and areas for my children to play in. They didn’t want to leave! The owners had everything we could possibly need. The home was clean and comfortable. We highly recommend this home and are looking forward to returning in the future!

Who Could Ask For Anything More!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third or fourth stay here when visiting Helen, Ga. There are many choices to make for places to stay in the area but for the money, this is the best bang for the buck. Terry and Gary always greet us with smiles as we pull into the drive. It was like seeing good friends again. Hope they feel the same way.

Beautifully but comfortably decorated throughout the upstairs and the downstairs. Terry and Gary have the cabin stocked with about anything you might need for your stay, such as: shampoos, soaps, fluffy towels and washcloths, plenty of bath tissues and face tissues and paper towels, and the list goes on. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, specialized hot tea and cider, hot chocolate, sugar, salt and pepper, cooking spices and flour, mustard and ketchup, and the list goes on. Plenty of plates, cups, cookware, grill tools for the grill. We bought a pound of flavored coffee beans from Betty's Store and used the coffee grinder provided to grind and brew that magical aroma that only coffee lovers know and love.

The living, kitchen, and dining areas are downstairs with plenty of room to spread out. We love the sitting area overlooking the creek and woods. We love using the fireplace in the cold seasons with plenty of firewood provided. The downstairs also has a large bath, and another room with a sofa bed. There is a laundry room at the end of the hallway with detergent provided should you need to do a load, hopefully not because you are on vacation. There are TVs in just about every room, and Wi-Fi as well. Plenty of games and movies provided...just pick a few if you are staying in.

Upstairs are two large fully furnished bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a king bed, each have their own private bathrooms, ceiling fans, and plenty of closet space. The king room has a sitting area overlooking the creek and the woods. Nice place to have your morning coffee if you need some alone-time.

Just about 2 blocks up from the main street in downtown Helen. It is in walking distance but we always drive as I lean towards the lazy side.

This house and the area has become one of our favorite places to go each year and Terry and Gary have done a lot to make sure their cabin serves you well on your visit. They even have a free bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for you when you check in. I don't even get that when I stay at the hotel chain I've been using for years.

Hey, hope to be back soon. Keep up the good work!!

Owner's Response: It is a wonderful feeling when our guests enjoy our cabin so much that they return again and again! And, yes, we feel as though we are good friends! It is our pleasure in providing all the comforts of home. We provide a complimentary bottle of wine for guests who are celebrating a birthday or an anniversary, and for returning guests, if desired. Thank you for the wonderful comments!

Clean, convenient & spacious

  • 4 of 5

This house was very clean & organized & had a home-away-from-home feel about it. You can tell the owners take good care of their home. The location was very convenient to Helen & restaurants, etc. The only negative aspect about the sleeping arrangements, is the king mattress was very firm & somewhat uncomfortable, I might suggest adding a nice memory foam topper to it. Other than that the place was really nice & we definitely will there again.

Owner's Response: We're glad that you found our cabin to be clean, comfortable, and convenient to town. We just purchased the king mattress in May of this year. We took the advise of the furniture mattress store owner by choosing a firm mattress. He informed us that the majority of his customers purchase firm. It was a hard decision to make for a rental property since every guest will have their own personal preference when it comes to a soft mattress or a firm mattress. We do hope you will return to our cabin as you mentioned for any future visits to Helen. Thank you for the comments. Update: we've now purchased a gel memory foam mattress topper, per your suggestion, to the king bed.

We loved the house! It had everything we needed and more. It was close to town but also in a very quiet and secluded area. We enjoyed a perfect weekend! Thanks for sharing your home.

Owner's Response: We are always happy to learn that our guests enjoyed their stay! We have to agree that it is very peaceful and quiet, yet it's very close to all of Helen's activities which makes it easy for returning to the cabin multiple times per day. We hope you'll return in the future.

About Terry & Gary Allmon

My husband and I both grew up in Georgia. For many years, we have visited Helen for relaxation and fun. In 2004, we decided to purchase property within the city limits to build our vacation home. In 2006 we, along with family members, built the Alemaigne Haus Cabin and later decided to share our home with others to enjoy as well. Five years ago, we decided to move to the area so that we could be near our rentals and assist our guests as needed.

Terry & Gary Allmon purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Terry & Gary Allmon chose Helen

We have always loved the city of Helen because we really like the touch of Bavaria in this re-created alpine village with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers which is full of activities throughout the year. Our cabin is less than a mile to downtown Helen which makes for easy access for our guests.

What makes this cabin unique

We love sitting on the deck as we listen to the sounds of the creek in the back yard. And, the view from the Sunroom is absolutely beautiful! The cabin is located in the city limits and is within walking distance to town, yet you have the feeling of total seclusion. For those who enjoy the water park, our cabin is only a couple of blocks away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your home. We had all of the creative comforts of our own home, but in a much more serene and beautiful setting. The house was so clean, and the Christmas decorations made us feel right at home. We hope to stay here again in the future for sure.
