Grand Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Come stay in our charming, mountain lake home and enjoy the gorgeous, 180 degree views of Rocky Mountain National Park and Shadow Mountain Lake. Cook up a hearty breakfast in the kitchen and enjoy a cup of coffee while savoring the views, quiet location, and easy access to numerous activities. An artesian spring and willow bushes provide natural attractions for moose, fox, elk and other animals which you will likely see during your visit.

Spend a fun-filled day skiing, snowshoeing or browsing the shops in Grand Lake. How about sledding or cross country skiing with your family? This cabin is the ideal place for you to make those special memories that will last a lifetime. Have fun hanging out together and getting away from it all - enjoy board games, doing a puzzle, or just relaxing in the laid back Colorado mountains.

Have lunch or dinner in one of the many fine local restaurants. Perhaps you will decide to explore the night life in the valley, or maybe a relaxing evening at home is in order. The full kitchen has everything you need to make a wonderful home-cooked meal.

Return to the cozy cabin after a busy day in the mountains and sink into the soft recliner couch with a bowl of popcorn to watch a movie. When it's time for bed, climb our signature spiral staircase to the master bedroom and loft, aka 'the fort,' which is perfect for the young and the young at heart. Then nestle under the warm quilts for sweet dreams, until you awake to another amazing day in Grand Lake, Colorado.

**We also own the Moose Cabin, #218770. Rent one or both cabins! They are on the same 1/2 acre, but separate. A great place for two families to stay.***

About The Owner

We love the Grand Lake area and all of the outdoor activities it offers. We especially enjoy relaxing at the cabin when we are not going up to work! As lovely as the cabin is, we are always making improvements. We figure if we are comfortable there, our guests will be as well.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

Why The Owner chose Rocky Mountain National Park

Skiing, hiking, wildlife, views, fishing, boating, snowshoeing! We really love to get out of the city and kick back in the mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

5/09: Recently, we had a gorgeous moose wander across our property. We quietly trailed it, taking many pictures. What a huge animal - we certainly kept our distance! We've observed elk while eating out on the deck.

The winter snowfalls are amazing. We had 3 feet out in the yard this winter! The summers are cooler than in Boulder, and we can see far more stars!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My son loved playing in the the snow on the deck and my daughter enjoyed the stuffed animals. It was very relaxing playing games by the the fire. We would love to return in the summer and swim in the the lake. Thank you for allowing us to make your cabin our "home away from home".

We stayed at the Star Cabin for a week with our five-year-old son and nine-month-old daughter, and it was perfect for us! Our son loved the spiral staircase and his own fort to sleep in. We loved the view, the deck, the full kitchen and grill, and the young male moose who visited us two evenings in a row. The location, too, was great, as we took day trips to RMNP and Winter Park, while visiting Grand Lake and Granby for meals out. Thank you to the Zimmerers for taking such good care of their property and making our stay so easy!

Incredible spot!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very cute, well-maintained, clean and very comfortable. The views are gorgeous and it has such easy access to very quaint downtown Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. The owner was so easy to work with and I will absolutely recommend Star Cabin to anyone traveling to this area.

Staying here greatly enhanced our RMNP vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is great! We had wonderful views of Shadow Mtn. Lake and the owners arranged for us to have FANTASTIC WEATHER as well :-). I can't say enough good things. First of all, the cabin is stocked with what you will need, plus more. It is also decorated with such attention to the last detail -- in cabin style. The kitchen is sufficiently furnished with all your important appliances and kitchen AND grilling tools. We made our breakfasts and packed lunches for hiking all day at RMNP. We made dinners at the cabin....mostly grilled. We ate on the deck. And there are 2 decks! And we had a nice surprise visit by a daddy moose on one of our nights there, complete with a portrait sitting too (he stayed a long while!). You will have all the amenities you will need if you stay here. And the park entrance is only 5 minutes away. How about them apples? We had been to RMNP 8 years ago but we rented a house in Estes Park. We are so happy to have picked the Grand Lake side this is much MUCH less congested/busy/crazy than the Estes Park side. Plus, we had the lakes to enjoy. We went horseback riding one day and kayaking another day. Added to the hiking days, we had a blast. We have 2 boys, 12 and 13. They fit into the fort but if you have more people, there's a futon in the master bedroom (in addition to the bed) and I think the living room has a pullout too. And the owners have board games, including a chess set, that you can occupy yourself with at night. The town of Grand Lake has a lot of places to eat and shop as well and feels like a small western town (less touristy than EP). Come to Rocky Mountain and stay at this cabin! You will not regret it.

The star cabin was exactly what we were searching for!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I visited Colorado from Minnesota. We stayed at the star can for a couple of nights. It was exactly what we envisioned. Plenty of space, great view of the lake from the patios, quiet neighborhood, wildlife everywhere you go (moose in the yard), close to the small town with restaurants, shops and bars. Angie was accommodating to our early check in time. Smooth check in and out process. Highly recommend this cabin!

Perfect cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really had a blast at the Star Cabin. It was perfect for our family and the two decks was pretty awesome. One on top for the beautiful view of the lake and mountain and bottom deck for cooking and relaxing. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful cabin. Kids loved the fort and I enjoyed the spirit staircase!😍
