About Marian

Marian and Bob Wright are proudly pictured with some of their grandchildren.

Marian purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Marian chose Raymond

We take great pride in our cottage and keep it in immaculate shape and clean. Another one of our goals is to supply guest renters with an experience greater than what they expected.

The cottage is located on an acre of land with lots of flowers and a grassy lawn. There's a sandy beach and a deep-water dock for a boat.

We bought this property because it borders our next door home. Waterfront properties such as this don't come on the market frequently. Plus it has a beautiful view and is a level acre of land.

What makes this cottage unique

We consider this location on Big Sebago Lake as 'Paradise', which is why our home is located next door.

Please read the many reviews by guests who have stayed at the cottage.

Due to our guests' allergies we do not allow pets or smoking in the cottage or on the property grounds. Marian and I personally clean the cottage, and groom the flower beds to make things as tidy and attractive as possible. The lawn is mowed by a service company usually on a weekly basis or as needed. The neighborhood is very quiet therefore only a maximum of 6 people are allowed on the property or in the cottage at any time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the peaceful and beautiful week. Our four-year old, and one and a half-year old loved the private beach and playing in the sand all day. We went strawberry-picking at Pineland Farms, and visited the wildlife farm in Gray, Maine, Steamboat Landing golfing, Go Karts at Adventure Park and all the fun things I used to do growing up here. The girls also saw their first movie theater movie at Smitty's. Thank you for your hospitality.

Impeccably clean cottage with beautiful waterfront

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying at this cottage and it did not disappoint! The home was IMPECCABLY clean and came fully stocked with everything we (family of 4 w/ 2 young boys) needed for a wonderful vacation. There are 2 new flat screen TVs, reliable WiFi, a new gas grill, a dishwasher, a programmable coffee pot, super comfy beds with lovely new comforters and blankets, bedrails for the younger set to use when sleeping, life jackets, beach toys...you name it, Marian and Bob have thought of and provided it!

The home has an absolutely beautiful flat, grassy yard that our boys loved for playing soccer, catch, crochet (included with the house!), and running races. There are lovely flowers through the property, but placed in such a way that we didn't need to fret that our children were going to trample the garden. There is a lovely private sand beach which is sunny in the morning and shady in the afternoon -- a perfect combination! And the dock was replaced between our stay last year and this year. The new dock is made of smoothly sanded wood (not a splinter to be had!) and is perfect for fishing and deeper water swimming. The fact that the home has a large yard, a private beach, and a dock sets it apart!

With two young boys, we didn't have much time to just sit back and relax, but when we did there were comfy chairs everywhere. There are two new rocking chairs on the deck, a table and 4 chairs for dining alfresco on the deck, two lovely rockers placed on the grass close to the water, two super comfy lounge chairs on the beach, and a picnic table at the beach for yet another alfresco dining option.

Marian and Bob are thoughtful owners who live next to the rental property. It is nice to know they are close in case anything happens (we locked ourselves out last year -- whoops!) but they are not intrusive and respect the privacy of their renters. They greeted us at the beginning of our vacation, after calling to ask if they could pop over for a hello, and they welcomed us with freshly baked pie, ice cream, muffins, and small presents for us and our boys! Thoughtful does not quite capture their nature.

There is no shortage of activities close by...we mini golfed, drove go-carts, ate A LOT of yummy ice cream, apple fritters & lobster rolls, we kayaked, swam, built sand castles, rode the alpine slides at Attitash, explored Fort Williams Park and Portland Head Light... Thank you Bob & Marian for another wonderful Maine Vacation!

Owner's Response: Dear Mary, Thank you for your wonderful and descriptive review. We feel so fortunate to have this beautiful location on Sebago Lake and enjoy sharing it with our renters. You had great weather during your stay, and the boys seemed to be having fun playing games and kayaking. Thanks for leaving their sand structure on the beach for us to enjoy. It pleases us that you and your family had a great vacation, and we look forward to your next visit. Bob and Marian

Welcoming and comfy and great location!

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous from the moment you drive up to the cute cottage with the colorful welcoming flowers that shows the owners care to the unbelievable location on Sebago Lake with boat you can't ask for much more than that. But when you go inside you do get more! Homemade blueberry & ice cream and a surprise gift. Wonderful hosts.

A relaxing two weeks on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had another wonderful stay at the cottage. Our girls are 4 and 2.5, and they thoroughly enjoyed the private beach and grassy lawn. The home is kept immaculately clean, and the gardens are just a pleasure. The hosts are warm and make sure everyone is well taken care of. We will return next year!

Awesome!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time at the cottage and we were pleasantly surprised! It is beautiful, well stocked and spotless! We also enjoyed the lemon meringue pie. We spent a lot of our time on the private beach. My kids, age 12 and 5, had a blast. We did a couple of day trips, and are familiar with the area. We loved that it was close to everything, yet so quiet and secluded. We would definitely stay here again!

Serene and Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming here for several years with our granddaughters and never tire of this lovely spot. The cottage is always immaculate, well stocked, and you can count on a pie waiting for you in the refrigerator. The owners always greet us and make us feel welcome. The large manicured lawn and beautiful flower gardens make sitting outdoors a pleasure. When we tire of swimming, we fish off the dock, go boating, or just relax on our private beach. The view by the waters edge is wonderful and this year we watched fireworks around the lake from the comfort of our lawn chairs!! Shopping and eating out are nearby when we want it and this pleases our teenagers. If you prefer to BBQ, a grill is located on the beach. All in all, this rental property offers us everything we are looking for. When we are here we want for nothing and arrive home rested and happy with memories of another vacation well spent.

Owner's Response: Dear Chris and Ralph, Thank you for your kind review. This is the fourth year you and your granddaughters have spent two weeks with us. We look forward to your arrival each year. This year the weather was picture perfect almost every day. We also enjoyed seeing the fireworks display right from our beach. It was a great show, and it beats trying to find a parking space and spending time in traffic trying to watch the displays in the neighboring towns. We also want to thank you for the nice way you left the cottage. It is really appreciated. Bob and Marian Wright

Quiet peaceful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Probably the best VRBO rental we have ever done. The cottage was beautifully furnished and spotless clean. We especially enjoyed the rocking chairs outside right on the lake. The "super" moon came up one night right over the lake and was spectacular. The cottage was centrally located so we did day trips for a week and visited the coast of Maine and the mountains of New Hampshire within a one hour drive. The owners, Marian and Bob, provided some excellent tips for travel and spots to eat. All were excellent choices. They also provided blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream for us to snack during the week. Overall one of the best vacations we have ever had.

Owner's Response: Dear Wilma and Andy - We are so appreciative that you took time to write such a nice review. We worried about your return home in the midst of the terrible floods, and we were so pleased when you phoned us to say you had arrived safely. We are delighted you had such a great stay, and we thank you for sharing your experiences in Maine. We look forward to your next trip to Maine. Best, Marian and Bob
