For a description of the La Maison Verte (the other home at Le Relais des Roches) go to the tab at the top of the page
La Maison Verte & La Maison à Côte at Le Relais des Roches sleep up to 4 & 5 - It’s very unusual to find holiday homes in the village centre with a large pool, surrounded by trees and with a feeling of space.
A short walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the world famous village of Les Eyzies, 2 minutes walk from an excellent boulangerie and you will find a small supermarket just round the corner.
These homes are situated in the most popular part of the Dordogne within 20 km’s of 8 ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’ and a short drive from the medieval town of Sarlat. They sit opposite dramatic limestone rock faces once home to Cromagnon man, and being just 400 metres from the famous Font de Gaume caves (a UNESCO heritage site), they are at the very heart of it all.
Both properties have been decorated to a high standard with wood and tiled floors, tastefully & comfortably furnished with all the necessary conveniences for modern living including dishwasher, washing machine & UK satellite TV.
The large 40ft x 20ft swimming pool & pretty grounds provide an ideal area for relaxation and to top up that tan.
Friendly but unobtrusive owners live nearby. For more information & pictures visit our website - see link just above the guest reviews.

We spent a fortnight at La Maison à Côte in August 2016 and had a fantastic and memorable trip. The house was exactly as advertised, spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything in it you could ever need - and we cooked a lot! The pool is huge - even when being shared with family next door - and a great refuge on a hot afternoon. The grounds are spacious and particularly welcome was a lovely large tree which provided fabulous natural shade throughout the day. Although the site is split with another house, the layout allows for plenty of privacy too. Our kids got on brilliantly with their neighbours so there wasn't much of that for us though!!
The house is a few minutes walk from both the local baker and Les Eyzies village - a pretty little place to explore. More importantly the house's position means it is within striking distance of all the major attractions and activities in the area. The furthest time we ever spent in the car getting somewhere was 30 minutes.
Karen and Rob are great hosts. They were quick to respond to the small requests that we had and popped in once a week to ensure we were getting on okay and to answer any questions on visitor attractions, restaurant recommendations, etc, etc.
I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.
We have had a lovely week at La Maison a Cote! Lovely little home from home with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing week in a fascinating part of France! Absolutely perfect for us. The kids loved the massive swimming pool and would happily have spent the week splashing about in that. The house is located within 2 minutes of a surprisingly well stocked supermarket and a little bakery (and a local wine producer...!). The village itself is only 5-10minutes walk and has everything you need. We even managed to make it in to see the evening lights (you were right Karen - they were lovely), although dragging ourselves from the sunny patio and bbq proved challenging.
The surrounding area was amazing; utterly beautiful, packed with history and lots and lots to see and do. We had a superb morning canoeing on the Vezere - with an early start we had the river to ourselves at times - and visited several of the impressive caves and other CroMagnon sites in the immediate area.
Rob and Karen are perfect hosts. Full of recommendations with an infectious love of the area - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Maison Cote - it's a lovely property that is well maintained and located on the edge of Les Eyzies. A short walk into the village provides access to the shops, bakeries, restaurants, in addition to the Prehistorie Museum and PiP centre. It's a lovely spot with a nice garden, great facilities - the kitchen/diner is downstairs, while the living room and bedrooms are then located on the first floor. Spacious with everything we needed. Our 18-month old daughter loved being outside and playing on the grass! The swimming pool was clean, large and safe - a great treat at the end of the warm day. Rob and Karen were very friendly and great to know they are just nearby if for any reason we needed anything. They provided a travel cot, high chair and stair gates for our little girl, so that was all very handy, plus there is a washing machine which meant we could keep on top of our washing (boring, but with a little one, handy!). Also provided a ready-to-go BBQ, and a lovely bottle of wine to welcome us on our stay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break away - well situated for touring around the local Dordogne region. We went to Sarlat, Perigeux, Domme (amazing!), Castelnaud le Chappel, Beynac, Les Roque Gageu and really enjoyed seeing the sights. I would return and highly recommend both Maison Cote and Maison Verte next door.
A really lovely holiday despite heavy rain most days. Found plenty of things to see and do - our highlights were Rocamadour, Domme, Les jardins suspendus de Marqueyssac, the national prehistoric museum (in Les Eyzies) and the French markets. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and the swimming pool was very much appreciated, even in the rain! A great location, within walking distance of the supermarket and other small shops, several bars and restaurants and the Vezere. We would love to come back.
We stayed in La Maison a Cote at the end of August. The children loved the swimming pool which they used daily. The property is in a great location just a short stroll to restaurants, shops, museums and activities. We had a fabulous (but exhausting) day canoeing on the Vezere, a visit to the Jardin de Marqueyssac, the Chateau de Castelnaud and the Museum of Pre History.
The property was spotless and extremely well equipped. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and were on hand to help us when needed.
We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return.
A fab holiday spent with fab friends. La Maison a Cote was perfect! Very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The pool was a big hit with all the children. So much so that we could never get them out!
Les Eyzies was a short walk, which had some lovely restaurants to eat out in the evening. The pizza restaurant was particularly good and reasonably priced.
There was lots to do and see. Really recommend canoeing down the Dordogne and visiting some of the Chateaus nearby. The market in St Cyprian was fab but need to arrive early to avoid the crowds!
Karen and Rob were the perfect hosts and left us to enjoy our holiday. However, were always on hand if we needed them. We have already discussed coming back next year!
Many thanks for a great holiday.
Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of the Perigord has been described by some as paradise.
As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs or visit the many 'Beau Villages' in the surrounding area you begin to understand why. The area surrounding Le Relais des Roches is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat is just 20 minutes away.
The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer.
Whether you wish to visit one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites, caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, picnic by the banks of the Vezere River, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac and surround or canoe, horse ride and perhaps fish, the Dordogne has it all.
If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Foie Gras, cepes, truffles and excellent restaurants - the region has it all.
Other local activities include: canoeing, airparks, quad bike hire, ballooning, go carting the list is endless.......
