La Maison Verte & La Maison à Côte at Le Relais des Roches sleep up to 4 & 5 - It’s very unusual to find holiday homes in the village centre with a large pool, surrounded by trees and with a feeling of space.
A short walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the world famous village of Les Eyzies, 2 minutes walk from an excellent boulangerie and you will find a small supermarket just round the corner.
These homes are situated in the most popular part of the Dordogne within 20 km’s of 8 ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’ and a short drive from the medieval town of Sarlat. They sit opposite dramatic limestone rock faces once home to Cromagnon man, and being just 400 metres from the famous Font de Gaume caves (a UNESCO heritage site), they are at the very heart of it all.
Both properties have been decorated to a high standard with wood and tiled floors, tastefully & comfortably furnished with all the necessary conveniences for modern living including dishwasher, washing machine & UK satellite TV.
The large 40ft x 20ft swimming pool & pretty grounds provide an ideal area for relaxation and to top up that tan.
Friendly but unobtrusive owners live nearby. For more information & pictures visit our website - see link just above the guest reviews.

We were unlucky with the weather during our stay so it was fortunate that La Maison Verte was so comfortable and well-equipped. The property is exactly as described with the welcome additional feature of wifi. It was spotless when we arrived. All of the appliances and other items were in good condition. The directions provided by Rob & Karen made it easy to find and the information folder in the house was very clear – an example of their attention to small details. Although the property is in the village and just a short walk from restaurants, bars and a small supermarket, it is set back and well screened from the road, so the house and pool are quiet and private. Les Eyzies is rich in prehistoric sites, most notably the Font de Gaume, and is only a short drive from many of the Dordogne/Vezere tourist spots.
My husband and I decided to have an extended break in France this year and for the first time were to be away for 4 weeks. Our first week was spent at our usual location, however the village was very small and did not offer enough to occupy us for 4 weeks hence the desire for somewhere nearer a busier village. After a lot of searching we came up with Karen and Rob's site and we could not have asked for better. Not only was the location ideal, both Karen and Rob went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable to the extent that they picked us up at 7 in the morning to take us to a train station to make sure we caught an early morning train (we were off for a wine tasting and tour!!) and Rob was there when we got back to take us back to Les Eyzies, rather than risk a local taxi getting it wrong! - what better attention could you ask for? Very knowledgeable about the local area which meant that my husband was able to visit the Faunt de Gaume caves which was the highlight of the holiday. I have no doubt that we will be back in the future and in the meantime would not hesitate to recommend Le Relais des Roches
My partner, 15 month old son and I stayed for a week in La Maison Verte and had an absolutely wonderful time. Karen and Rob were fantastic at liaising with us before we arrived and were very attentive and friendly during our stay too. The property is actually nicer and more spacious than the photos make it appear and is very well equipped in terms of what you need for small children. There was a cot, monitor, changing mat and high chair provided so it was lovely not having to pack all that stuff. They even provided a little paddling pool for our son in addition to the beautiful main pool in the grounds. I thoroughly recommend all the properties at Le Banquet and Le Relais Des Roches and I am certain we will be back. Thank you Karen and Rob for such wonderful hospitality.
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at La Maison Verte, and I can honestly say its been fantastic. We rented this property and my parents rented the one next to us (La Maison a Cote). The properties were brilliant. We travelled with our 22month old daughter and we could not have asked for more from the place. Everything we needed was there for our little one, (cot, highchair, stair gates, plastic plates, cups, cutlery etc) as well as everything we needed for our stay. The location is great, every morning was a 2 minute walk to the bakery to get fresh croissants and bread and the village is just a short stroll away with lots of restaurants and cafes. We also loved the local markets, were you can buy lots of local food to go back and cook that evening. The outdoor space is great and we never really felt over looked. Karen and Rob are both lovely. They popped round to come and meet us in the first week as well as coming to say goodbye and wished us a good journey home. We also felt we would have been able to contact them if ever we had a problem, which thankfully we didn't during our time here. The pool was lovely too and great to have to cool off in the afternoons. We are already thinking about booking again.
We have Just returned from a wonderful two week family Holiday at La Maison Verte. The location was perfect for getting a taste of Village life but Also having the benefit of Space seclusion and all portent swimming pool especially if you have any young family members to entertain. The house was particularly well equipped with a great deal of thought going into what is required particularly in the kitchen area. I was impressed with the quality knifes, dishes, pots and pans which often is minimal in such environments. There is also poolside and picnic table wear available. The rest of the house we found spotless and full of character. Outside we had the use of our own Secluded dining and bbq area. The village itself has a number of places to eat for every budget and occasion. Amenities are fantastic in the village. An excellent wine shop and local butchers along with several other shops mostly specialising in local produce. A foodies heaven. We found the village friendly and welcoming. Another highlight would be the local bakers less then two minutes walk from the house for fresh bread daily. We were fortunate to meet Karen and Robb a couple of times. A lovely genuine modest couple who are happy to give you ideas what to see and do. Keen gardeners their hard work is evident and everywhere you looked. I couldn't even begin to describe what there is to see and do in this area of France. The scenery was jaw dropping, the history is world class and unique. Highlights for our family were the Font de Gaume cave Paintings, Horse Riding and canoeing. We're already planning our return visit. Thank you very much for our wonderful holiday.

We had a delightful stay with our elderly dog. We had taken a long time to select this accommodation and we were very pleased with our choice. The location and setting were ideal. The pool was a bonus which we did make us of. The facilities in the gite made it feel like home from home. There were plenty of places to visit from the gite but if you just wanted to stay local there was plenty in Les Eyzies itself to see. If we return to this area this would definitely be top of our list on where to stay.
Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of the Perigord has been described by some as paradise.
As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs or visit the many 'Beau Villages' in the surrounding area you begin to understand why. The area surrounding Le Relais des Roches is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat is just 20 minutes away.
The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer.
Whether you wish to visit one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites, caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, picnic by the banks of the Vezere River, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac and surround or canoe, horse ride and perhaps fish, the Dordogne has it all.
If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Foie Gras, cepes, truffles and excellent restaurants - the region has it all.
Other local activities include: canoeing, airparks, quad bike hire, ballooning, go carting the list is endless.......
