Wonderful house within walking distance to many great things
The house was so comfortable and very clean. There were great linens and comfortable beds. Tammy was so sweet and a great help if we needed anything. We loved being walking distance to the market, coffee shop, bakery and restaurants. There is little farm stands everywhere, one even had meat that was delicious. The sunsets are wonderful from the house and the beach was great!
Proximity and sunsets!
Across the street is a coffee shop, down the road from ice cream, a short walk to the grocery store, a bakery nearby, and all with a beautiful sunset every night. Top it all off with very attentive homeowner and comfortable accommodations, and you have yourself one of the gems of Lopez Island. Slightly aged interior prevents it from getting that elusive 5th star, but also helps keep the cost reasonable. ;)
Fun AND Tranquility
Lopez was familiar to us as campers, but this was a pure treat to have a clean "home base" and no fuss kitchen. The village is just a short walk away. Fisherman's Bay, seals, birds, and bunnies are in your front yard. There were two bicycles available and beach access anytime you wanted it. We learned that the view had to be experienced from both upstairs and downstairs, each giving their own perspective. Hot chocolate or coffee on either deck is a must while watching at least one regular seal. If you get chilly you can choose from the fireplace inside or the firepit outside. There were games, books, TV and movies available. The neighbors were quiet and the sunsets were unforgettable! Tamara and Tom came in person to show us around the place and cover any questions we had. We were privileged to spend 3 nights and wished we could have stayed much longer.
The Lopez Sisters
Every year, we take a "Sister Trip" and this year we decided to try Lopez Island since Lopez is our family name. There are five of us sisters and we were immediately comfortable in this home which was clean and in a fantastic location with a great yard, beach access and the views and sunsets were awesome. Tammy met us there to show us around the house and make us feel welcome. We spent four nights and loved it from beginning to end. Lopez Village is within walking distance where there are shops, restaurants and a grocery store. All of us sisters had a great time and would recommend this home for all types of travelers. Tammy went beyond our expectations and her kindness made our stay here especially memorable. Great time.
After having spent several summer vacations on a different island in the San Juans, we were curious about trying a new island. Our decision to rent this house in Lopez Village was well-rewarded. The location was outstanding, the town fully walkable and friendly, and the entire island a true biker’s paradise. Not to mention that the house itself was clean, comfortable, cozy, and fully prepared for our 10-day stay. It is a 60s era home and some of the decor will have you imagining that you might be on a set of Mad Men.
Tammy, the owner, ensured that we were comfortable as soon as we arrived and had great recommendations for must-see beaches, walks, and restaurants. She was only a phone call or an email away, as well, if we had any questions.
We did plenty of biking on the scenic roads of Lopez and always seemed to enjoy a friendly wave from the locals. The beaches were spectacular, no matter which side of the island we visited. Each day would end with a leisurely but spectacular sunset viewed either from the upper deck, the back porch, or inside the home that has enormous picture windows to frame every glorious view. It was a great way to slow down and just relax.
We enjoyed a truly outstanding meal at the Bay Cafe, just a few steps away from the home. In addition, ice cream, fudge, Holly B’s bakery, Isabel’s Espresso were all close. The full-service grocery store is a five minute walk.
If true relaxation is what you crave, this home on Lopez Island provides it. As soon as we arrived, the Lopez Effect took hold, and it lasted until we drove onto the ferry to head home.
Great View & Highly Recommend
This house has it all. Fantastic view. Village location and yet is private. Watch seals, eagles, loons, ducks from any seat inside/outside. Oh, and the boats coming/going aimed right at you. Take stairs down to the beach. Have a fire, either inside or in the pit. And the house itself is an interesting 1950's style. Everything is "retro" and works great. You could pay way more to stay in a new cabin 2 lots over, but it is smaller and has every Village tourist right outside your door/windows.
Thank you Tammy, for making a very pleasant stay for our anniversary.
