Giampero was very pleasant, and helpful
Lovely villa. Lovely enclosed interior courtyard and the conservatory was my favourite place to sit with a book and a glass of wine.
Great house and location
We are regulars to Portugal but have not spent time north of Lisbon before.
It is a great location good beaches a lovely forest park, fantastic roads and interesting places to visit.
The house / villa is spacious and well presented with everything you need.
Pool is not heated in the summer but was at 24c and under cover for all weather use.
Picture room great for quiet reading time.
Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Road to the lighthouse is a bit scary with the buses. Ok to drive but I would not walk especially after a trip to watch the sun set.
Climate is very different to Algarve with more cloud and mist on some days and this gives the vegetation a lush appearance rather than the brown scorched look further south.
Gianperlo a great host welcoming, helpful, available but not intrusive. Thankyou
Thankyou Peter; your family and friends will always be welcome here in Azoia-Cabo da Roca
Beautiful home in an unbeatable location
8 women gathered in this beautiful home for a week of exploration, relaxation, and celebration. It was perfect - spacious and comfortable. We loved the location, which allowed us to spend time at the beach as well as explore the nearby villages and Lisbon. The owner, Giampiero was unbelievably helpful and kind. We would have spent another week if we could have!
I am always happy if my renters have found exactly what they were looking for; also the delicious catering of the village´s restaurant "Refugio da Roca" (and the extra kitchen help of our D.Luisa) made your celebration´s event successful.
Our family of 6(4 adult children) stayed in this lovely home at the beginning of June. The house is located in the little town of Azoia, off the beaten path, away from the congestion of the larger towns and Cities, but within a half hour by car to Sintra, Cascais and Lisbon. There are 3 restaurants in town, 2 that we would return to: A Casa do Luis and Refugio da Roca. There is a bread truck that delivers to the center of town every morning and a little vegetable and fruit market that is open in the mornings, most days. From the house you can walk to the western most point of continental Europe, Cabo da Roca and a magnificent beach, Praia da Ursa( a challenging hike down a steep path leads to a breathtaking beach)!
Casa da Buglione is a uniquely charming house! It is spacious with its 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and very well equipped. We didn't want for anything! The weather was unseasonably cool during our stay so we weren't able to swim in the unheated pool. Things are a little dated in the house, but it adds character and everything functions well.
Giampiero is an excellent host! Living next door he was always available to answer our questions, but always out of sight. He provided us with a welcome basket containing bread, eggs, milk, coffee, tea, sugar, oil and jam.
The welcoming hospitality and the warmth of the Portuguese people made our trip fabulous. We will return to Portugal and possibly to Casa Buglione!
What can I say more? Thank you so much for your wonderful review! Your party was for me like family and you´ll always be more than welcome at Casa Buglione.
Beatuiful home....wonderful stay!
We had such a wonderful time at this special house. There was plenty of room for all of us....three couples. Everything was lovely, from the beautiful design of the home, the comfortable rooms and the fabulous location in the mountains near Sintra and just a mile from Cabos de Roca! We were close to so many things we wanted to see like Sintra, the beautiful beaches, the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace as well as Caiscais where we took the train for a quick trip to Lisbon. The village had two cafes and a wonderful restaurant that we ate in two nights. We loved to come home and sit in the lovely sun room and talk about our travels! Giempiero was awesome. He left us a lovely basket of food and coffee goodies to get us going and was there if we needed him for advice and suggestions. Such a nice gentleman. Portugal is such a lovely country and the people are just wonderful! Thank you Giempiero!
Comfortable, spacious, beautiful
We stayed at this property towards the last week of June and were a family of eight with a baby. The property was both beautiful and comfortable, there was plenty of space both individual and communal. I think our favourite was the sun room where it was always difficult to dislodge people from!
The house is well equipped with almost everything you could need. The caretaker was very friendly, and available for anything we needed: it was possible to reach him via Whatsapp and phone.
The appliances - dishwasher, stove, washing machine, oven, fridge, iron all worked perfectly throughout our stay. The dining areas are quite communal and good for large families. Hot water, electricity, etc. were all plentiful with no problems.
The weather was quite cool (which we liked!), however if you like a warm pool then it won't be warm enough as the pool is not heated (as clearly written in the property description).
Check in and check out was quick and easy, and the deposit refunded within a week of departure, again all hassle free.
In conclusion we had a great and memorable stay - the area is lovely and the house gave us exactly what we wanted: comfortable and appealing quarters, privacy, and lots of space to enjoy time together.
The location - a genuinely unspoilt farming village - is called Azoia and located above Cabo da Roca, overlooking the ocean; in an area where you can visit historical places, villages and towns, rich in works of art, from which you can easily reach in a 25 minute drive either the towns of Sintra, Estoril or Cascais, the well known fishing resort town, as well as several beaches and golf courses. The village is hanging on the wooded hill of the Serra de Sintra, also known as Serra da Lua 'The Moon Mountain;' The coast is 1.2 Km away and offers spectacular scenery with Cabo da Roca (most western point of Continental Europe on a 140 m high cliff) and big sandy beaches (magnificent Ursa beach (ca. 30 Min. walking distance); Adraga beach (10 min drive) was ranked as one of the ’20 perfect European beaches’ by the Sunday Times; Guincho beach) partly stretching out below cliffs.
Other Activities: bird watching
Golf: There are several golf courses within 10 km radius, 6 full length golf courses are within 20 min drive. These include Penha Longa which is only 15 minutes away, the famous Estoril Golf Club, Quinta da Beloura near Sintra and Clube de Campo at Belas, north of the Royal Palace at Queluz. Next to Penha Longa are the practice facilities of the Academia International de Golf. In Cascais you have the Quinta da Marinha Golf Club and the Quinta da Marinha Oitavos Club (10-15 minutes drive). Visitors are welcome everywhere.
