FAQ (frequently asked questions): 1. Is the Apartment in a safe area? Yes. It's in the heart of Paris where it is always lively. The streets are well-lit at night, there is a code to enter into the building, and of course we're always near by if you're ever in need!
2. Where is the nearest grocery store? There is a large supermarket on Rue de Rivoli not far from the apartment, however; the area around the Marais and the Ile St. Louis are known for their small specialty stores where you can find the best bread, cheese, wine and meat in Paris.
3. Can I make calls from the Apartment? How much are they? There is a phone in the apartment, and you can call to the US for FREE with our carrier! Some other destinations are free as well, please e-mail us with a list of countries you would like to call, and we'll let you know how little our carrier will charge. You can also buy a prepaid MobiCarte, which is a SIM card you can buy at any Tabac, to use with your own cell phone here.
FAQ (continued): 4. How do I get there from the airport? How much is it? -- TAXI : 35-45 Euros -- Direct Train (RER B) from Charles de Gaulle Airport and Orly Airport to Gare du Nord, Chatelet or St. Michel metro stations : less than 9 euros/per person + a short walk to the apartment.
5. How do I get around? There is a vast metro/bus/train system in Paris that is easy to navigate, although the best mode of transport when you stay in the center of all the activity is by foot! There is also a hop-on/hop-off sightseeing bus, as well as a hop on/hop off sightseeing boat! The latest marvel is the new bike rental system! You can find one on almost any street corner - just rent it for however long you wish with your credit card (at what looks like an ATM) and off you go! (You can even return it to a different location, too).

Both my boyfriend and I LOVED this apartment! We really can't say enough good things about it! We stayed for one week and we felt like we where really living in Paris! It's perfect for two people. The murphy bed is truly comfortable! We sleep in a queen size bed at home, but this full size bed did not feel small at all! The entire apartment is clean! We never once felt like we had to worry about anything being dirty...the towels, the linens, dishes...everything was perfect! The bathroom is spacious with plenty of storage space for your toiletries. The closet was also very spacious equipped with an iron and ironing board. The washer was also perfect...the clothes come out cleaner than at home and practically dry because european washers take longer to cycle and spin a lot faster than the US washers...it was like having a washer and dryer in one! The location and view are amazing! Overlooking the river and near two metro stops...we where truly near to everything! The next island over (one block away) has a little market where we would buy fruit and right accross there is a bakery where we would buy crossaints in the morning. After walking all over the city, we where convinced we had picked the right place to stay...still central to everything, but away from the busy tourist chaos...we felt like we where part of the city there and not travelers passing by. The owners are also sweet as can be! They are there to welcome you and to wish you a farewell...they had water and champagne at our arrival. Thank you Marie and Marc! Our transaction was smooth from beginning to end. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Paris! No doubts or hesitations :)
The apartment is as tiny as described, and as conveniently located as described. We ended up leaving the bed down most of the time as it gave an extra surface to lay things while getting organized, and to save time, and we were not inside during the day very often. Our November visit meant very short lines, but we had gotten the Paris Museum Pass anyway. Being so conveniently located meant we could arrive early at Notre Dame without packing for the whole day, and return to the comfort of the apartment to figure out the rest of the day based on weather. We were also able to time our trip to St. Chappelle based on timing for sunlight (rare our cloudy week) through the stained glass (magnificent!).
Marie-Christine is a wonderful host, very helpful in offering suggestions by email in advance (so glad we made it over to the Fondation Louis Vuitton for their special exhibit that I can't spell offhand) and with a great handbook in the apartment with maps showing nearest bakery, different grocery stores, etc. She had a whole album of business cards from restaurants in Paris, but she visited with us on check-in to recommend restaurants based on our tastes, budget, and parts of town we planned to visit. We enjoyed a very convenient and reasonably-priced restaurant just around the corner (Au Bougnat) and will be pleased to try a meal at the restaurant (La Reserve de Quasimodo) that seemed so convenient that we saved it for a busy day toward the end and then ate our food remaining in the refrigerator instead.
We never used the washer and dryer, but were glad to have it as a backup if the weather had been rainy enough to get muddy or want to dry things out. Of course, it is very convenient for an inexpensive breakfast at a flexible time to have a refrigerator for milk and orange juice when Marie-Christine provides good materials for making coffee and the bakery is so convenient.
I would recommend you pack as lightly as possible due to limited storage space, but that is wise anyway, for carrying bags up escalators that aren't working in the RER or airport, etc. (Elevator here works.) The Batobus has stops on each side of the river convenient to the apartment, and is delightful in the summer. But if you are traveling there in winter, be aware the batobus stops running at 5 PM except 7 PM on Friday, so do not bother buying the pass until you have really figured out that you will use it. We should have just used the RER, etc., for this trip.
We were so happy to return to Paris and to this perfect little apartment! It's a beautifully laid-out studio, spotlessly clean, with a wonderful view across the Seine to the Hotel de Ville and the towers of St-Gervais-et-St-Protais. In the mornings, we made tea and coffee and enjoyed the croissants that we had picked up the day before, and each evening, after a long happy day of wandering through the city, we sat on the sofa and watched the lights of the boats as they headed back to their berths. The apartment's central location means that it's easy to walk to almost everywhere that you'd like to go (and the metro isn't far, if walking doesn't appeal). The building and the street are quiet and calm, just right for winding down after a delicious dinner in a neighborhood brasserie. Marie-Christine and Marc are generous hosts, and we're so grateful that they made this place possible. This was our second stay with them, and we hope to come back many times.
Our two week stay was wonderful. Centrally located suite was exactly as described. It is small but has everything you need. Fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom. Most attractions are within walking distance or enjoy the view and boats on the Seine through two large windows. Property clean and well maintained with luxury bed linens and towels. Before our arrival and during our stay Marie Christine and Marc were very attentive, accommodating, and thorough in providing information about the suite and surrounding area. Easy to communicate with. Extras such as bottled water, 'welcome' wine and macarons are all appreciated touches. I will recommend this suite to family and friends and hope to be back myself. Notre Dame, restaurants, hop on hop off buses, river cruises and hop on hop off boats, metro stations all within a block or two. Thank you Marie Christine and Marc!
We stayed for one week in this very clean, well-appointed apartment. The views are exceptional and Marie Christine thought of everything that one would need. We were greeted at the arranged time and Marie had a bottle of wine and bottles of water ready for us. The apartment is close to several metro stops and it is also easy to explore various neighborhoods and sights on foot from the apartment. It is a very secure location. While it is a studio apartment, we never felt cramped as it is efficiently organized and there is plenty of storage for clothes and suitcases. Marie provided a notebook containing locations of grocery stores and markets, and we enjoyed cooking a few meals in the nice kitchen.
We highly recommend this property.
Thank you for such a fabulous way to enjoy the City of Light!
I have stayed in this apartment three times now and it is my favorite place in Paris. The location couldn't be better. The heart of old Paris within easy walking distance of all the sights, great view of the Seine river traffic when the feet need a rest, close to several wonderful open air markets, great cafés close by, street music on the bridges, and the bells of Notre Dame...... There is no other location that offers all this so close to your lodging. *For anyone with safety concerns, the apartment is located directly in front of a police station and has two very secure doors. Walking in Paris felt safer than many American cities. I have never had a problem. Additional security this year leaves one feeling even safer. Don't let security concerns keep you from visiting this amazing city.
Marie Christine and Marc, apartment owners, are very nice people, readily available for any concern or question (like how to use the phone;-). They greet you at the front door and introduce you to all the apartment amenities. Both of them speak great English and make it easy for American travelers. *we were able to check in far earlier than the normal hotel time! They also helped with luggage and getting transportation back to the airport when we were leaving.
For Americans please note that unless you have umpteen dollars to spend, lodgings always are very small. This apartment is no different. But once you settle in you find that the layout is brilliantly done and the effect is very comfortable. Some things that are a bit different from US hotels; you can hear noise in the hallway, but there is minimal traffic. There is also street noise but that too is mitigated if the windows are closed. Apartment temperatures are easily modified, although I haven't stayed here in the winter (planning that trip now). This is a boutique type lodging, very private, unique, with some quirks that serve to give it more character.
A couple of tips (learned after 10 weeks staying here), there is a great café on Île St Louis, right across the foot bridge, named St Regis. Simple basic food, great waiters, lots of locals eat here, and they speak English very well. And the price is very reasonable. Great place to eat! Metro 1 and 4 stops are close by and will get you anywhere, great way to get somewhere, then walk back. Notre Dame at 8/9 am is nearly empty and is a wonderful experience. The rest of Paris is right out the door.

We enjoyed our stay in this sweet little apartment very much! Marie and Marc were very accommodating and helpful. The view from the windows is lovely and the location is perfect, literally around the corner from the Notre Dame. The apartment had all the basics including cream for your coffee. I would highly recommend this apartment for 1-2 people that are interested in being in the heart of Paris.
