FAQ (frequently asked questions): 1. Is the Apartment in a safe area? Yes. It's in the heart of Paris where it is always lively. The streets are well-lit at night, there is a code to enter into the building, and of course we're always near by if you're ever in need!

2. Where is the nearest grocery store? There is a large supermarket on Rue de Rivoli not far from the apartment, however; the area around the Marais and the Ile St. Louis are known for their small specialty stores where you can find the best bread, cheese, wine and meat in Paris.

3. Can I make calls from the Apartment? How much are they? There is a phone in the apartment, and you can call to the US for FREE with our carrier! Some other destinations are free as well, please e-mail us with a list of countries you would like to call, and we'll let you know how little our carrier will charge. You can also buy a prepaid MobiCarte, which is a SIM card you can buy at any Tabac, to use with your own cell phone here.

FAQ (continued): 4. How do I get there from the airport? How much is it? -- TAXI : 35-45 Euros -- Direct Train (RER B) from Charles de Gaulle Airport and Orly Airport to Gare du Nord, Chatelet or St. Michel metro stations : less than 9 euros/per person + a short walk to the apartment.

5. How do I get around? There is a vast metro/bus/train system in Paris that is easy to navigate, although the best mode of transport when you stay in the center of all the activity is by foot! There is also a hop-on/hop-off sightseeing bus, as well as a hop on/hop off sightseeing boat! The latest marvel is the new bike rental system! You can find one on almost any street corner - just rent it for however long you wish with your credit card (at what looks like an ATM) and off you go! (You can even return it to a different location, too).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Both my boyfriend and I LOVED this apartment! We really can't say enough good things about it! We stayed for one week and we felt like we where really living in Paris! It's perfect for two people. The murphy bed is truly comfortable! We sleep in a queen size bed at home, but this full size bed did not feel small at all! The entire apartment is clean! We never once felt like we had to worry about anything being dirty...the towels, the linens, dishes...everything was perfect! The bathroom is spacious with plenty of storage space for your toiletries. The closet was also very spacious equipped with an iron and ironing board. The washer was also perfect...the clothes come out cleaner than at home and practically dry because european washers take longer to cycle and spin a lot faster than the US was like having a washer and dryer in one! The location and view are amazing! Overlooking the river and near two metro stops...we where truly near to everything! The next island over (one block away) has a little market where we would buy fruit and right accross there is a bakery where we would buy crossaints in the morning. After walking all over the city, we where convinced we had picked the right place to stay...still central to everything, but away from the busy tourist chaos...we felt like we where part of the city there and not travelers passing by. The owners are also sweet as can be! They are there to welcome you and to wish you a farewell...they had water and champagne at our arrival. Thank you Marie and Marc! Our transaction was smooth from beginning to end. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Paris! No doubts or hesitations :)

The Perfect Parisian Pied-à-terre!

  • 5 of 5

Within about 15 minutes of checking in, I was ready to buy this place! It has absolutely everything you need for an independent stay in Paris, not the least of which is a full, customized orientation by the host. We were so glad she was the first person we met in Paris! She spent 45 minutes explaining the functions of all the systems, asking us about our needs, and making sure we knew where to find local resources like shops and restaurants. She was also easily available by text and email when we couldn't remember how to get past the second security door and panicked that we'd be locked out.

This apartment's location overlooking the Seine cannot be beat. I considered splurging on a pricey hotel for this trip, but I kept coming back to this reasonably priced place because no other accommodation in Paris has this view! I was especially impressed by the kitchen facilities (the clothes washer and dryer is a lifesaver if you're on a long trip) and the bathroom, which has a comfortably sized shower with great water pressure.

The only drawback is the Full-sized bed (we tall folks love our King- and Queen-sized beds!). But I don't see how they could have fit a larger one in this space, so I can't fault them. Everything about the apartment shows that a lot of thought and care has gone into making this the most commodious accomodation possible. I hope we will be able to book it again the next time we visit Paris!

Small but charming Paris studio apartment

  • 5 of 5

We spent eight days over the Christmas holidays at Marie Christine's studio apartment on the island of Cite in the middle of the River Seine. While the apartment is small, it is very well organized, spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchenette. The bed is comfortable and can be folded up into the wall for added space during the day, however we never found the need to do this.

The views from the apartment are romantically charming and beautiful. The traffic on the River Seine can be mesmerizing and makes for interesting breakfast conversation.

The location is a short and very pleasant walk to Notre Dame, several subway stops and a wide variety of different restaurants and shops on the islands of Cite and Ile Saint Louis. If you are coming in from Charles de Gaulle airport you can take the RER B line and get dropped off a couple of blocks from the apartment.

The great location, the simplicity of the layout, the cleanliness of the place make this an ideal spot for a couple looking to spend a few days in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you are looking for an 'island' vacation, this is the place for you.

Paris right outside your window

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended. You have the Seine and Hotel de Ville (City Hall) always in view. Great view, great location; if you don't already know Paris, this is a perfect base to explore from. Close to many metro lines, but you can easily walk almost everywhere from Marais to Louvre, D'Orsay/St. Germain and back. Apartment is very comfortable; not large, but equivalent space to a hotel room (only with kitchen included). Well stocked with "extras" you might otherwise have to run out to buy. Marie is a gracious and helpful host (rather than a landlord or management company) and highly accommodating. We couldn't have been more pleased, and will return.

Exceptional location with a view you just cannot stop looking at

  • 4 of 5

Would give this apartment a 10/10 if only the bed had been more comfortable . The mattress must be getting a bit old as woke up with sore hips and back etc .. same for my boyfriend. Was like sleeping on my Aunts old pull out sofa. If you took the bed out of the equation it was a terrific place. Never turned on the TV once as looking at the view was entertainment enough. Great bathroom and well supplied kitchen. Glad to have a washer/dryer. Lift up to the apartment small, my boyfriend and I barely fit in and we are small people. Really enjoyed how easy it was to get tonthings from the apartment and lots of very close great restaurants and markets.

Really enjoyed our stay except for the bed!

Owner's Response: Hello Shelley, I am sorry to hear that you woke up with sore hips and back because of the mattress. I am also surprised because we have at least 3 guests who wrote since January 2017 that they found the bed very comfortable . I think that it is a point which is very subjective because some people like very firm mattress whereas others prefer middle firm or even soft mattress . As for the size of the lift , be informed herewith that 80 % of the old buildings on the islands and the Marais district don't have any lift and we feel lucky to have one even very small ; it is clearly indicated inside this lift that it shall be used by a single person ; I can imagine that it was difficult for you to fit in with 2 people ; it's a chance that the lift didn't go out of service by this misuse .
