Overview

About the property

Villa in Santa Teresina, Sardinia, Italy

Villa Montemoro enjoys one of the finest sea views in our collection.

.

Situated at the end of an unmade country lane, Villa Montemoro occupies a thrilling vantage point 300m above sea level with views encompassing the landscapes for miles around – from the Costa Smeralda on one side, to the Gulf of Arzachena, the Archipelago of La Maddalena and as far as Corsica on the other side. The inside of the property has been arranged in a delightful traditional style with a mix of terracotta flooring, whitewashed walls, beamed ceilings and Sardinian furnishings, offering a homely and comfortable feel throughout. Set on one level and consisting of a large air-conditioned living room, a well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, it is also the perfect choice for couples and families seeking a relaxing holiday in the comfort of a private villa. The terrace and pool area will probably be the main focal point of your stay as it is from here you can experience Sardinia in all its glory – indulge in long leisurely lunches or evening meals in the twilight whilst taking in the extraordinary scenery of coastline, raw granite mountains and startling wind-sculpted rocks. When you eventually tear yourself away, the exquisite beaches of the Costa Smeralda as well as the authentic village of San Pantaleo are only a short drive away.

ABOUT AREA

Santa Teresina is tucked away between the glorious coastline of the Costa Smeralda and the dramatic country hills of the Gallura, only a few kilometres away from Porto Cervo. Set in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo is an up-market centre of indulgence. It is located around two yacht harbours on the north side of this dazzling stretch of coastline, and being the main resort of the area and a paradise for the jet-set, it’s definitely worth a visit. Set in the heart of the resort and lined with cafés, bars and restaurants, the "Piazzetta" is the perfect spot to lounge in style - it is the place to see and be seen. An evening stroll along the quay is also a must, with designer boutiques on one side, and luxury yachts lining the marina on the other. The posh boutiques selling fashionable designer goods such as Gucci, Versace, Prada & Hogan continue the trail throughout the pastel coloured maze of grotto-like shopping arcades within the resort. Italian architect Michele Busiri Vici designed this grotto-like creation and has a strong presence within Porto Cervo, having also designed the Stella Maris church. Elevated and situated in a craggy edge of the land, to the west of the centre, the church is something of an art deco landmark that overlooks the comings and goings of the town.

BEACHES

Tanca Manna sits approximately 250 metres from the road behind a saltwater lake. It has a great stretch of sand and plenty of facilities for families. A kilometre beyond Tanca Manna is Barca Bruciata, a small sandy beach which is quiet with no facilities.

Cala Capra beach just beyond Golfo delle Saline is a pretty sandy bay tucked beneath the impressive Capo D’Orso headland with its distinctive bear shaped weathered rock.

The Capriccioli headland has five beautiful small sandy beaches. There are facilities for boat hire and also a bar close to the beach. These beaches, including La Celvia, are amongst the most popular in the area.

Rather off the beaten track is the Spiaggia del Principe which cannot be reached by car. The last stretch has to be done on foot takes under 10 minutes and is well worth the effort.

An extensive sweep of white sand set down a long unsurfaced road.

Piccolo Pevero is a small sandy beach with parasol and boat hire. It also has a restaurant (“Il Pulcino”) and a bar.

The Pitrizza beach at Liscia di Vacca just north of Porto Cervo is also popular.

FESTIVALS

Sailing regatta.

Sailing show organised by the Yachting Club of Costa Smeralda.

A festival inviting visitors to sample fried fish and delightful Vermentino wine.

Prime sailing exhibition.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

Prehistoric Sites at Arzachena

Visit the prehistoric remains including the Albucciu Nuraghe – a bronze age tower, the Tomba dei Giganti Coddu Vecchiu and the Li Muri Necropolis, scattered around the town.

Inland Gallura

Explore by car or on foot the dramatic mountains of the interior, the rugged countryside and the small character towns and villages. Alternatively, leave your car in Palau and take the stream train to Tempio Pausania, a spectacular journey across the Galluran countryside.

Agriturismo

Sample traditional Sardinian cuisine in a farm restaurant. Amongst others, we recommend the Agriturismi Tenuta Pilastru, la Sasima or la Somara, all located near Arzachena.

Watersports

Discover the exquisite coastline from the sea and enjoy the excellent conditions of the north east coast for wind-surfing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, etc.

La Maddalena Islands

Spend a day cruising around and swimming from these stunning islands - a favourite with those seeking tranquillity, natural beauty and unspoilt surroundings. There are frequent ferries or boat trips available from Palau.
