|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
We have a very lovely, three-bedroom lakefront house that is available to rent in Vermilion, Ohio. The interior is all knotty pine with a fireplace, very large master bedroom, two smaller bedrooms, large sun porch, kitchen, living room (with pull-out couch)/dining room and bath. It is charming, cozy and immaculate.
The large, private backyard abuts Lake Erie, and provides you with a break-front/patio at the lake that is perfect for fishing, swimming or just “sitting” by the water. There is a large park for the kids a short walk/bike ride down the street (and almost across from the Mayor’s house), and a large, private backyard with hammocks, swings and benches to watch the truly great sunsets and sunrises over Lake Erie. Take a snooze on the sun porch and catch the afternoon trade winds, or open the windows at night and catch the wind and noise of the waves.
Conveniently located, it is 20 minutes from Cedar Point and the many Sandusky water parks (Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay), 30 minutes to the ferry for the Lake Erie Islands and wineries, 20 minutes to historic Milan/Norwalk Ohio (home of Thomas Edison), and 30 minutes to Cleveland’s Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Science Museum, Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers, and the world famous Cleveland Orchestra, and Art and History museums. There is fine shopping, restaurants, boat rentals and the quaint City of Vermilion (complete with ice cream shoppe, naval museum, wonderful beaches and a 5 star French restaurant on the water) to visit.
So spend a day at Cedar Point, and come home to the quiet of the Lake for dinner and an evening of relaxing at the water. Go fishing in the morning, and then head into Milan in the afternoon for a taste of history. Head off for a day at the water parks and come home to a home cooked meal on the grill. Spend a day at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame and visit the many sites of Cleveland (USS Mather, the USS Cod submarine, the many nightclubs in the Flats by the Cuyahoga River, the Science Museum, or catch an Indians game) (Cleveland really is a great city) and come home to a night of catching fireflies in the backyard, or a trip into Vermilion for ice cream or just a peaceful sunset at the water. The combinations and possibilities are endless.
Our house offers you days of quiet by the water with the fun and excitement of day trips to the many sites in Vermilion, Sandusky, Huron, Milan, Norwalk, and Cleveland, as well as the Lake Erie Islands. You will have a vacation to remember for always.
Also available - a large one bedroom mirror image house that is located next door (It is a duplex) which is great for family gatherings/reunions. If you would like to rent both units the price is $1700. For the large single bedroom side (we took down the wall between the two smaller bedrooms) go to the VRBO separate listing #261126 for specific information and pictures. Both sides are both beautiful - mirror images - but for the bedrooms. (Each side has its own yard area - it is a large yard). It is a great deal for a family vacation to remember always.
Our house is also about 40 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic - and is also a perfect, peaceful place for family members or for the patient' s peaceful recuperation.
REMEMBER - THIS CALENDAR ONLY APPLIES TO THE 3 BEDROOM UNIT. Please go to VRBO listing #261126 for information and pictures for the one bedroom side and its calendar.

THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL AND EMPTY BEACH DOWN THE STREET - A SHORT WALK - THAT HAS A FISHING BREAK WALL AND WHITE SAND THAT GOES OUT FOR QUITE A DISTANCE AT A VERY SHALLOW LEVEL. IT IS WONDERFUL. IT IS ALSO ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK WITH SWINGS, AND BASKET BALL COURTS, TENNIS COURTS, A PICNIC AREA, AND BASEBALL DIAMOND. WE HAVE A SIMPLY GREAT LOCATION.
My wife and I rented this cottage for the first week in July 2016
What a wonderful place to stay. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and then some.
They supplied way more than any other place we've rented in the past by far.
The views are fabulous and it is so peaceful and not actually a tourist section of town but more like a residential community. It is off the main highway on a small street, so it is very peaceful and basically no traffic. We rode our bikes in to Vermilion and it was a very easy ride as all the roads are flat and no hills. The store across the street is very convenient also.
We did get a small storm the last night and that was a good thing, it is amazing to watch out over the lake.
We saw a bald eagle at least a couple times daily, he comes out of a big oak tree, out at the waters edge, about 2 houses to the right facing the lake. Very easy to see from the back yard. The bed was very comfortable and I just can't overstate how nice this place was . Great job Kate ,Thank You, we hope to be back in the near future. Maybe a fall trip ?
My husband, daughter and I rented this cottage for a weekend to explore Lake Erie before the busy season! Wow what wonderful place! So much more than expected! Well stocked kitchen with everything you could think of needing. It was cold and stormy one night so we enjoyed the huge selection of games and puzzles. Beautiful view of the lake - lots of outside chairs and a fire pit - due to the weather we did not get much use of either but enjoyed sitting on the cozy porch watching the storm roll in on the lake. Very comfortable master bedroom. All beds had wonderful bedding and nice big fluffy towels in the bath - always a bonus in my world! :). For breakfast we loved The Nest - right at the light as you turn into neighborhood. the paper moon winery was a blast- even on a rainy night - live music, food and wine. Kate was super easy to work with! Enjoy!
We rented this cottage for a girls weekend getaway and it was so much more than we anticipated. The cottage was spacious, very clean, well stocked with all the necessities, we did not have to bring anything extra. The owner Kate has the cabin stocked with Board games, Wi-Fi, cable, everything for a relaxing getaway. The view was exceptional, and the sound of the water made the stay so relaxing. There is a store across the street if you do need milk or drinks which is so convenient. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quick out of the city getaway!!! Thank you Kate and Don!!!
My wife, mother, our dog Macie and I all stayed in this duplex for a week in late July. My mom stayed in the smaller half of the duplex, while we stayed on the other side. There are chairs and small tables in the back yard that over look Lake Erie and from the screened porches there is a 180 degree panoramic view of the Lake. We would sit out and read, talk and just enjoy the lake. It is about 25 minutes to Cedar Point and Sandusky and about 40 minutes from Port Clinton. We spent one day at Put-In-Bay, rented a golf cart, and drove around the island - this was a nice destination, if your time allows. We also really enjoyed the historic town of Vermillion - nice shops and restaurants. If you like wine and good food, be certain to visit the Wine Vault - excellent food and atmosphere (although it is tight/cozy, but perhaps this adds to its ambiance). Great food and wine! I would recommend this house highly and we'll definitely be back for a visit. It was very hot the week that we were there, but in the back overlooking Lake Erie there always seemed to be a nice breeze. Oh, before I forget: those of you that work out even on vacation - there is a YMCA about 1/2 mile from the house with treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, weights and machines - awesome facility and opens early, so it doesn't take from your travels. The owner was wonderful and had a great deal of information for us when we arrived. Other place we visited: The Blind Perch (excellent food), Paper Moon Winery (good wine and eats - if you like Reds - don't worry, they don't use Ohio grapes) - oh, and a Quaker S. & Lube right on the water - five minutes from the house. Enjoy! We found a gem in Vermillion and a real appreciation for Lake Erie. There is a small beach a few blocks from the house, but it is a rocky, not sandy beach. However, if you are beach folks that like to sit and bake (not I) - the downtown Vermillion beach is wonderful - quant and sandy.
My wife, child and myself stayed a week at this nicely furnished house with a outstanding view! It is located minutes from downtown Vermillion and the marinas. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation spot. For myself it was an outstanding location since I took four walleye trips with one of the Captains out of Vermillion and scored big on each charter. The owner which I can not say who was very generous with everything. Thanks again for letting us stay at this beautiful house!
We rented this cottage for a few days to visit my daughter for her birthday. My sister, my son, and I were delighted with this home. It was fully equipped with anything and everything you could need. We were prepared to eat out daily, but the kitchen had everything to prepare meals. We cooked in, and saved money. It was very homey! We were very comfortable and would love to stay again. We stayed in April and the wind coming off the lake was quite cold. So we enjoyed the scenery from the sun room. It would be gorgeous in the summer! We are hoping to rent this home again when the weather warms! Thank you Kate for sharing your home! Sincerely, Patty
shopping, fine restaurants, wonderful parks and beaches, and a quiet house to come home to.
