Historic Center Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This charming apartment is located on Via dei Ginori, in the historic centre of Florence, in a 15th century building which belonged to the Ginori family, a noble Florentine dynasty.

If you wish to live in a historical and classic Florentine house with all modern amenities, this is an unique opportunity: wooden ceiling beams, Florentine “cotto” (terracotta) floors, “pietra serena” stone doorposts, a 15th century frescoed frieze in the master bedroom and a noble stone emblem in the living room where there is also a wonderful fireplace.

This apartment is located on the 2nd and top floor (without a lift) and is composed of a living room (with two sofas that can be set up as two single beds), a kitchenette, a bedroom with a King bed (180 x 200 cm, it can be split and set up as two single beds) and an en suite bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, a bedroom with two single beds and an en suite bathroom with a shower, and an half bath off the living room. Finally there is also a small terrace with plants and flowers.

The property overlooks large and sunny courtyards.

The size of the apartment is about 120 square meters (1300 square feet).

The apartment includes air-conditioning and heating system, fully equipped kitchenette, free WiFi Internet connection, 3 satellite TVs, telephone (local and incoming calls only), CD and DVD player, a washing machine, a clothes dryer, iron and board, 2 hairdryers and a safe.

You will be able to enjoy a little music and video library and to consult many art and guide books about Florence and Tuscany during your stay.

The property is provided with top quality features like Frette linens and towels, Simmons mattresses, DaunenStep duvets (in winter), a just renovated silent Teuco whirlpool tub, Dr Vranjes home fragrances, Nespresso coffee machine.

We’re proud to have been reviewed by “The Times”, on November 26th 2011, as one of the 20 best apartments in Europe.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This apartment was the perfect final stop during our trip to Italy. It was finished with beautiful artwork, and lovely amenities were everywhere! Our group of 4 women found it very comfortable and the absolute perfect location for all the must-sees in Florence. It was truly a delightful surprise. Maria and Rita were the best to work with. Thank you for making our visit in Florence even more special. We would love to return!

Florence at its Best

  • 5 of 5

We are well traveled and luxury hotels are the norm for us. Even with that background, this apartment impressed me more than even the best hotels in New York. A combination of great space, perfect location, and a luxurious décor is just the beginning. There was an element of professionalism that exceeded even my high expectations. Every detail was considered by these owners, yet it is oddly very affordable at the same time. If you double your prices, I’ll still be back. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. I have never had a better experience….anywhere. Brenda, North Carolina, USA

Owner's Response: Your review gratifies me so much because, beside my care in the things that can simplify the stay in Florence, I put my personal passion in the décor hoping to exite an emotion in the guest. Thank you very very much for your wonderful feedback, I really hope that you will come back soon!

Wonderful, homey feel. Quite comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Marie met me at the door. Walked me through the spacious two bedroom, two bath apartment, showing how everything works (a/c, washer, dryer, kitchen, etc). Of all the VRBO places we (my self, my niece, her husband and two children, now ages 14 and 9) have stayed in (this was the fourth), by far, and not to slight any of the others, this was the best. Quiet. Ideally located. On the third floor, but, well, worth the schlep.

Would not hesitate, for a second, to stay there again. Highly recommended.

The best of the best...

  • 5 of 5

I spent four delightful nights in early June in Rita's superb apartment in central Florence. The location simply could not be better. It's steps away from the Piazza San Lorenzo and the Mercato Centrale, and a short walk to the Duomo. The apartment is huge and luxurious. It's fully equipped and everything is perfectly maintained. The building itself is well maintained and very secure. The common areas are clean and safe. One of the loveliest features of the apartment is the private terrace filled with flowering plants. This is the place to relax in the late afternoon with an espresso or a glass of wine after a day of exploring the beauty of Florence. When I return to Florence, this will be my home, again. No question about it.

Fabulous and Elegant

  • 5 of 5

Truly one of the most fabulous VRBO properties I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. I have been a VRBO fan for 20 years and this is one of the best most complete and beautiful properties. It has every amenity imaginable and goes beyond expectations with elegant decoration that has been put together with taste and expense. This is truly a luxury property that is exquisitely maintained. It is just a few blocks from the Academia, Chapel of Medeci, San Lorenzo Church, and the Duomo/Baptistry. You will not find a nicer place in Florence. It is a very large 2 bedroom apartment. Plenty of room for a family or two couples. It is quite. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is roomy with a full size tub. I can't say enough about this place. You will certainly be pleased with your choice if you stay here.

Great location, walk everywhere, close to stores, well maintained, spotless, top line furnishings.

  • 5 of 5

Great for a family with who each want to have some "space". Large dinning area for meals and or entertaining.

Beautiful and well appointed baths.

Small balcony with well maintained and beautiful flowers (First of May)

Plentiful places to eat or grocery shop. Too many to mention and ease of using.

Walking distance to most attractions.

Very quiet considering location.

There are four Flights of stairs to reach the apartment which should be mentioned in write up. This could be a big challenge for some people.

Helpful to have better in person instruction on use of appliances. However, all manuals are there.

Very responsive owner(not on location) but helpful if needed via e mail.

beautiful apartment with a few issues

  • 3 of 5

We recently stayed here for 5 nights. We were a party of four so the space was wonderful. The apartment is beautifully appointed and the high beamed ceilings add to the sense of space.

There is no elevator so the walk-up 49 steps could be a challenge for some. Our main problem was the lack of hot water. This was an issue the whole trip, with the water shutting down completely one afternoon.

The owner only provides one set of keys. This was a little tricky to coordinate with four people.

The owner also requests to be partially paid in cash. This was our third property on this trip and the only one that we could not pay in full on a credit /paypal.

The location is good. Walking distance to Duomo, lots of restaurants and shopping. A very nice bar on street level of this property with great food.

Owner's Response: No surprise about the steps (usual if you’re staying in a 500 years old building) neither for the only one set of keys: everything is clearly stated on the description and on the rental agreement that every guest must read and accept, like you did, before reservation. Also, we requested a residual part of balance to be paid cash at check-in, as clearly stated on rental agreement, in order to guarantee us and our guests. It allows guests to verify the apartment before settle and us to not risk delays and problems with credit card payments a few days before the guest’s departure. Anyway we've moved to a full credit card payment 30 days in advance. You wrote us only on the evening of the third and penultimate day of your stay - not on the first day! - that the hot water and pressure in the shower wasn’t constant. We immediately called the aqueduct company, they came next morning to check the general counter of the building to verify eventual water loss but all was regular; they said that some works in the area could bring to a changeable water pressure. In the meanwhile we called also the technician to ask about the heater, he said that it wasn’t possible that it was related to the heater, considering also that the radiators were working properly. We have anyway arranged an appointment for next day, on your departure, and all worked properly. On the evening of your final day you wrote us that, after dinner, there’s was no water at all. So we found out that a major damage occurred to the purification implants of the Florentine aqueduct and no one in Florence had water at all. We informed you immediately by phone. We also provided you the web link where to receive updates about fixing. We think to be very clear about property description and rules. We always do our best to solve problems as soon as possible, once the guest tells us about. Unfortunately nothing more and faster could have been done by us.

The apartment is located in the heart of Florence: just next to Palazzo Medici Riccardi, at the corner San Lorenzo Church complex.

This is an area with a lot of shops, restaurants and grocery stores including the Central Market (Mercato Centrale).

It takes less than 5 minutes by walk to the Duomo, the Mercato Centrale and the Accademia Gallery, less than 10 minutes to the Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. Finally, it takes about 10 minutes by foot to reach the Santa Maria Novella railway station, the central and most important in Florence.

This excellent location will allow you to discover by walk our beautiful city and its historic centre, Unesco World Heritage since 1982, which is mostly a quiet pedestrian area.
