Many of my friends who have stayed at the house, enjoy the second hand shops just down the street. We enjoy it and try to use many of the items since this shop and its workers host a home for battered children and wives. So important to us! So I try to shop at Elaine's 2nd hand shop for clothing whenever I can. It is just a few shops down from Lenny's, some excellent pizza and people. We just discovered a fresh fruit and vegetable stand that is set up on Fridays and Saturdays just a short walk from the house. Nothing like Fresh fruit and vegetables and at reasonable savings too!!

Private fishing dock for Rivershore Drive: We discovered our own private fishing pier just at the end of our street right off of John Andersen Drive. This pier is just for owners and rentors who are on Oceanshore Dr. or Rivershore Dr. We took a short 15 min,. walk with our fishing rods and tackle boxes and sat one evening and just fished. What a wonderful discovery we made that evening and we even caught our own dinner that eve. It was so pleasant to do just right before it got dark, just sitting and lounging on the pier that is specifically for our 2 streets only. We could bring the dog, our sandchairs and radio and enjoy some quiet music while having such a great time watching the fish jump and trying to get away from the bait. It is an absolute blast!! We have now sent down to rentors that have also enjoyed this! Just walk to the end of our street and cross John Andersen and within a few feet you are right there at the private pier for these 2 streets! So fishermen, GO and enjoy! We sure did!!
My husband Sonny & I live in PA where we own and operate a beef cattle operation and farm around 150 acres with one another partner,Bob. We both love the house in Fla. but also enjoy antiquities, currently presiding on a farm that houses a barn over 200 yr. old. We both grew up in this area. We have been married for 42 yr. and have one daughter, Becky and 3 grandchildren, Dillan, 21, Amber 17 and Brandon 6. The Grandkids especially enjoy the beach and the close proximity, everything in walking distance. . Beth is an PA licensed RN and works as a substitute school nurse in a local school district and also serves as VP on the Traders Inn Beach Club and a second generation director replacing her Mom who also served on this board many years ago. Sonny is a large equipment operator working for a paving company. We purchased the home from my Mom, Nettie, in 2007 who loved her house dearly and the Florida East coast. That is why the house is called 'Netties Nautical Nook' we just had to name the house after my Mom. We have done most renovations to this house ourselves since my husband is also an apprenticed carpenter, including the pergo flooring, the new roof and new hurricane windows and much more while leaving many of Mom's touches to the house which is still so much a part of this house. So many of our Bike Wk. guys tell us there is TOO much pink in the house, but I have to remind them, that was Mom's favorite color and we probably will not change it. It just continues to remind me of her and so I try to leave in many of her little touches. You will also love the history of Ormond Beach which is the area where the Big Race actually began. Take time to visit Rockefellers home and enjoy the history of Ormond Beach. We know you will love this beach house with its many personal touches and SUCH close proximity to the beach!
Beth or Sonny purchased this house in 2007
This was my Moms home as I may have mentioned. My Mom and I spent many hours just walking the beach for a 3 mile, trek along the beaches of Ormond by the Sea, Fl. sometimes walking all the way to Rte. 40, about 3 miles and totally loving it. We would have many meaningful conversations while walking and Mom would say how she never felt closer to her God while walking here in his beauty he provides for us. Some of the antiquities my Mom loved remain in the house, like her shadow box which at one time housed her huge collection of tiny tea cups. My daughter and her children now have come to love this property also, vacationing every Summer with friends and it becomes difficult especially when I tell Amber, age 16 that we are leaving for the Fla. house and she says,'But Grandmom I am still in school and I can't go right now.' She could have a suitcase packed in 15 min. if this time would allow her. We love the little areas around the house, Alfies restaurant, the Donut Shoppe, Heffers 2 Cafe, which is a brand new Cafe, scrumptious food, and also Stavros, which is know for its fantastic Greek Salads. My husband Sonny loves that there is a great fishing spot at the end of the street and great fishing with his buddies,Tommy & Kent on the boat at Highbridge. They love it that the bait and tackle shop is just up the street with fresh bait but also a warm cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
I have loved this house ever since my parents bought it in the late 70's. There are so many quaint touches in the house and I have left many things that remind me of my Mom and Dad. Right outside the front door is an angel that I will always leave there. My Mom truly believed that her angel and many of her prayers saved her from the horrific hurricanes early 2004. Particularly in the kitchen area we have a fantastic picture of Mom know as 'Nettie'to everyone around Ormond and 'Lefty' as many people knew him! We purchased the house in 2008 and added many of our personal touches to the property! New pergo flooring which of course is great with sand coming into the house, Just recently it was my vision to add that hot/cold running shower which I totallly adore! I always told my husband, Sonny, I looked at the house and wanted many special touches, as you will see many beach pictures on each wall of the house! As many of my past rentors would tell you, I have a fondness for lighthouses which you will see throughout the house at many locations! In 2011 my husband and I totally redid the Fla. room so it could be insulated, now it is toasty warm on cool Fla. mornings and keeps cool with a brand new A/C unit we just added in 2012. It is a great room for watching TV on the large screen or just snooze on the relaxing futon. Many of the children who have come to the house have claimed this as their room since the futon is SO comfortable and they have easy access to the lg. screen TV, the kitchen and the fenced backyard. Fencing in the backyard for our little 'Daisy the Dog' was essential and many have commented how much they enjoy the outside furnishings and the privacy of the backyard and the recent gas grille. Perfect when you come back from fishing to just cook it on the grille. Nothing better than fresh fish!
Hi Beth & Sonny,
We had a fantastic Christmas, at the beach no less!! We love it here, the house is absolutely perfect all around, the size, location, amenities, etc. Just to give you an idea...I caught my husband last night online checking the price of a house just down the street!!. OK a dishwasher would be nice, frankly I don't mind having an excuse to eat out a time or two...as in You do the dishes this time! Thank you for allowing us to alter our plans but we will plan on leaving on Friday. I am leaving a little gift for you from our adopted hometown! Again, thank you for everything and a very Happy New Year to you both!!
We were so pleasantly surprised with "Nettie's Nautical Nook" home! Having never rented a home as a place to stay before, we had no idea what to expect. We had a mini family reunion here, with 6 adults staying, but as many as 12 in the house at one time and we didn't feel crowded! The house was everything described, very clean, stocked with anything we might need, and more than adequate space. The walk to beach was a hop, skip and a jump; with a park with restrooms at the approach. Beth was wonderful, going out of her way to make it all so easy to arrange and stay! I only hope this home doesn't become so popular that we aren't able to book a return visit every year! Thanks again!!!
We have always vacationed close to home in NJ (we are from PA) @ a family members home, so renting a house in FL held lots of new experiences (& a few anxieties) for us. Beth was so accommodating & eased my mind @ every turn. Vacationing @ her home was like staying @ a family member's home. The house had everything we needed so we didn't have to lug tons of stuff from home: (my sons were so excited to have a TV in their bedroom), beach chairs, buckets, shovels, bikes, kitchen, radio, indoor & outdoor shower, WASHER & DRYER (a definite plus w/children @ the beach)... The house was neat, clean & homey. The beach & little park with restrooms & a place to rinse off was SO close to the house, never overly crowded (even Labor Day Weekend), the water was wonderful (warm, clear & not too rough), loved seeing the pelicans & other seabirds. We explored a few parks in the area, Tomoka State Park was one & saw loads of critters, (turtles, lizards, MANATEE, frogs, fish literally jumping up & out of the rivers in front of us), fiddler crabs..... We visited Kennedy Space Center & Walt Disney World as day trips (both about an hour from the house). My husband & one of my sons played miniature golf @ Pirate's Cove (right up the road), my youngest son & I played @ the park took an evening walk on the beach. We went to Alfie's for dinner one evening & really enjoyed getting pizza from Lenny's. Publix & Dollar General are close for anything you may need. We would absolutely recommend this home to friends & family. We are already talking about returning in the future. Thank You so much for sharing your home with us & allowing us to create lasting family memories with our children!!!!
Had a wonderful stay last year. This year I brought the kids. They also thoroughly enjoyed the house and the beach. The house is very well kept and has everything you need. Restaurants (TGIF, Outback) and shopping (Publix, Bealls) are just a short drive away or you can stay in for some quality family time. Beth is very accommodating and a joy to work with. I would definitely recommend this property to my family and friends. Looking forward to going back next year!
What a quiant little house. We returned for two weeks.
Just love the area and how close it is too the beach and
We ate several meals at Alfie's ( just down the street).
Beth called and checked to see if everything was OK at the house.
We are returning back for three weeks in Feb 2014.
Can't bet the price, for what yhou have here.

My sister and I had a great time at this house! IT was everything the owners promised! A great beach side pool and park and all restaurants within walking distance! Not to forget the quaint shops either, all within walking distance! We had a great time just shopping and laying on the beach, a fantastic weather for March. The house is immaculate and so many little details the owners provide for you! We had everything we needed for the beach and they even gave us access to the beachside pool that is gorgeous! We told Beth, "Same time, next yr for us" so we guarantee this property again and don't have to worry if we have the booking, its there for us! Thanks so much for providing a time for us to share your beach house!
My sister and I had a fantastic time at this place! It was well kept and within walking distance to just about anything you could imagine. The owner even had bikes there we could ride! What a blast! The beach was close, the restaurants within walking distance and many of the shops just amazing! We had a blast at the shops! We took some time and went down to the pool and that is just gorgeous. Who would not want a pool that is beachside and right on the water with all amenities you could imagine! Found a terrific place for amazing greek salads right across the street from the pool and they even delivered! All in all we had a great time just chilling out and grilling at night on the back porch! The owners are very gracious and we could not thank them enough for a terrific time! We mentioned to Beth, see you "next yr, same time" so we know we had the house again. What a great trip!
We are approx. a 2 minute walk from Public Beach access w/playground(Public Beach Park), Tom Renick Park, great area for the children with playground equipment right on the beach! Just right up the street all within a very short walk from the house is a handy Dollar General Store for any quick grocery needs you may have. This area also offers unique beachside shops for all essentials, even fishing supplies for your local fishing pier right down the street.! A large local Grocery stores are about a 10 min. walk. Mall & Banks all within walking distance. Close proximity to all major attractions like Disney World, St. Augustine, Sea World or stay local and visit Daytona Lagoon or spend an evening at local attractions that offer day and night time miniature golf!!
I do encourage those of you who visit with us to check out our local 2nd hand shop on AlA just a short walk from the house. Her store is totally designed to help families and children affected by abuse and homelessness. All of her proceeds are devoted to this entirely and the shop is HUGE!!
Other Activities: Take a long stroll along the beach at low tide for a great time to pick up fantastic shells or for the kids to build sandcastles! We love the fishing pier at the end of the street! The sunsets on the Intercoastal Waterway are just so picturesque, don't miss them when you are here! Got a fishing pier back there also for those who wish to do both!! Don't forget to get a fishing license, it is mandatory in the state of Fla.
One of the best restaurants in our area and within walking distance is Alfies. Check out their early bird menus for special pricing and especially Prime Rib nights! They even serve Fried Ice Cream and you will not believe the SIZE of their sundaes!! Check out their menu, they run a special dinner menu every night of the week! Never leave this area without trying Stavros Greek Salads...an absolute must!! Lenny's pizza is a must if you love New York style pizza....all within walking distance. There are always plenty of menus available for you to check out what you want for dinner and also who delivers...lots of places that deliver in the Ormond area!
Check out all of the activities that are going on at the casements, John Rockefellers old home! There is something there every weekend to see! I have never seen so many festivals as the casements offers. There seems to be something there every weekend!
There is also a BRAND new dog walking park located just northbound on A1A about a 10 min, walk from our home. My rentors tell me it is a great place to walk the dog and enjoy the sunshine at the same time! Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs on our beach area, but you can drive to Flagler Beach and they do allow dogs on the beach there!
Golf: Local golf courses are available right off of Oceanshore Blvd. Wonderful golfing and picture perfect golf courses I am told by my golfing rentors! They absolutely love it!
Take an afternoon an go visit the racetrack where the Daytona 500 is run each year, along with many other races throughout the year! You can hear it at the house at Daytona 500 for sure!!
The Volusia Mall is just a short drive away also. Lots of stores, a great food court and an area for the kids to play in. We have Sears, JCPenneys, Macy's , Dillards and lots of other smaller chain stores. To get out of traffic on AlA, just ask me, I have found many back routes to the airport, the malls and the flea market.
The Daytona Flea Market is about a 20 minute ride, and is a huge flea market abundant with fresh fruits and vegetables. Maybe try a close set-up to the house....just a quick southbound walk to fresh fruits and vegetables each Saturday through Sunday right off AlA. Just right around the corner from the house...so convenient!
The Ocean Deck Restaurant located in South Daytona is great in the evening if you enjoy listening or dancing to a full live reggae band.
For those of you who come in from the Daytona airport, I can give you a private phone number which will take you from the airport right to the house. For our older individuals who wish to not do too much walking, he will also drop you at Publix, our local grocery and let you shop for your groceries and then take you to the house. Just a recenly redone grocery store that has literally EVERYTHING!!
Our bus service is phenomenal and I always keep a bus schedule at the house. The bus fare is $3.75 for a daily pass which will give you 24 hr. access back and forth wherever you want to go! They literally travel up and down the coast in Volusia County!
For those of you who wish to rent a car...check Enterprise, they do pick you up and drop you off at the house. They will often run deals on the w/e for just $9.99 per day beginning Friday and returning Monday. Great deal! I use them all the time!! Very professional and prompt with pickup and return, Just off Nova road a short drive away!!
