Sea facing spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath/shower-room apartment with large balcony!

First floor, ocean facing, luxury apartment (lift or stair accessible) facing the sea at Minnis Bay on the North Kent coastline, just 10 minutes from from the renowned town of Margate. Fantastic views out to sea and stunning sunsets can be experienced from this point on the coast. You are also close to many of Kent’s historical places of interest and vibrant towns. The Blue-Flag awarded beach is well kept and just a stones throw away.

The master bedroom includes a kingsize bed and plenty of storage, features a good size en-suite with shower, w/c and basin. The second twin bedroom accommodates two single beds. There is a family bathroom just opposite including corner bath with shower over, w/c and basin. Solid wooden floors and quality furnishings are finished throughout, the design of the building is heavily inspired by Art Deco. The property has a large fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and a large open-plan lounge/dining space with excellent sea views, this leads onto a large decked balcony with outdoor furniture, perfect for eating out with this setting! The lounge features a leather corner-sofa as well as an armchair and a 40 inch flat-screen digital TV, the dining area features a large dining table. There is 1 allocated off-road parking space included and plenty of free street parking in the adjacent road if further space is required. Free Wireless internet is available throughout the property.

A large modern clean apartment with great views.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in this great apartment. On arrival everything was spotlessly clean. The bedding and towels supplied are of a high quality and the beds very comfortable. It is a very spacious apartment with everything in it that you would need. It was a pleasure to eat breakfast on the balcony in the morning and to sit there with a glass of wine in the evening watching the magnificent sunsets. Although it is at a road junction there is very little traffic and noise was never a problem. There is a large convenience store about a 5 minute walk away. It would be difficult to find a better place for a peaceful holiday and we are looking forward to returning in the near future.

Enttäuschender Zustand

Diese Wohnung, die als „Luxus Wohnung“ deklariert wird, ist alles andere als luxuriös! Der einzige Luxus ist die Lage. Direkt am Meer! Ansonsten ist die Wohnung sehr ungepflegt. Betten sind total durchgelegen, die Latten aus den Lattenrosten des Kinderzimmers fielen immer wieder raus. Die Couch im Wohnzimmer war total durchgesessen. Bei unserer Ankunft war die Küche total dreckig und verklebt. In den Schränken lagen Reste diverser Vorgänger. Töpfe und Pfannen waren total verdreckt, so dass wir in dieser Wohnung lieber nicht gekocht haben. Auf der Anrichte lagen Krümel. Das Eisfach war total vereist. Es lagen auch noch Erbsen irgendwelcher Vorgänger darin. Alles andere als appetitlich. Die Badezimmer sahen ähnlich aus. Schmutzige Toiletten, klebrige und fleckige Schränke. Haare in den Schränken und in der Dusche. Bei unserer Beschwerde teilte uns die Housekeeperin mit, dass das kein Dreck sei, sie hätte alles geputzt, Haare wurden von ihr entfernt. Beweisfotos sind an die Agentur gegangen. Weiterhin gab es folgende Mängelpunkte: alte Socken im Kinderzimmerschrank, Chipskrümel u.ä. unter den Betten (hier hat sicherlich noch nie jemand gesaugt), Fleckige Teppichböden, Spinnweben in der ganzen Wohnung, total verdreckte Fenster mit massenhaft Vogelkot, Staubschichten im Schlafzimmerschrank, die Dusche tropft die ganze Zeit, die Toilettenspülung läuft manchmal stundenlang weiter, die Temperatur der Heizung konnte man nur einheitlich für alle Räume regeln. In der Küche gab es nur 2 Wassergläser, 2 weitere (nicht passende) wurden nach unserer Beschwerde nachgeliefert. Nachdem wir den Kontakt zum Besitzer und zur Agentur gesucht haben, wurden wir an die Housekeeperin verwiesen. (die Besitzerin hat sich bis heute nicht gemeldet und behauptet wir hätten sie nicht kontaktiert) Nachdem wir bei der Housekeeperin geklingelt und die Mängelpunkte angesprochen hatten, lief der weitere Kontakt nur noch über Zettel, die sie unter der Tür durchgeschoben hat. So eine schlechte Ferienwohnung haben wir noch nie gehabt. Haben uns aber auch noch nie eine „Luxus Wohnung“ gegönnt.

Nach unserem Aufenthalt haben die Agentur nochmals über die Mängel informiert. Laut Besitzerin gibt es keine Mängelpunkte, die Agentur ist nicht zuständig. Reklamieren muss man vor Ort solange bis alles okay ist. Uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass es eine topp Wohnung sei, die auch nur gute Bewertungen bekommt. Leider haben wir dies anders empfunden. Aber dies ist eben nur unsere persönliche Meinung.

Owner's Response: Anja spoke with the housekeeper initially and so was asked to make a list of any issues she found to be promptly resolved at her earliest convenience. All five items reported on the list (most of which are not included in the review) were resolved the next day whilst Anja and her family were out, to minimise disruption – the housekeeper provided proof of this. After this, Anja continued the rest of her stay, seemingly happy with the resolution the housekeeper had provided. It was only after completing the rest of her stay and returning home did Anja contact ourselves to demand a refund - neither ourselves or the owner had been contacted after the housekeeper had rectified the items listed to then be able to act further if any issues were not fully resolved. The following guests who arrived the same day Anja left have written positive feedback in the visitors book and have already enquired about next year! The property has been listed since 2015 on HomeAway, we do not chase for or fabricate positive reviews, as is rife and people are far more motivated to leave negative feedback online. Sadly we do also get guests who demand refunds after their stay with the threat of bad reviews if this is not met.

The area is steeped in history, forming a part of the Viking Trail as well as being close to the ancient Reculver Towers, ruins of a once imposing Roman Fort. A paved cycle path/promenade runs along the northern coastline for miles on end and Minnis Bay features its own sailing club. The locale is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and abundant with wildlife along the coastline. A range of different pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. The coastal towns of Margate and Herne Bay are nearby with their facilities and the Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate. Medieval Canterbury will take you back to ancient times and boasts some great eateries! This will be hard to beat for those seeking a high quality sea-front apartment.
