If you are a kind person I will give your family a discount. I take my job very serious and I want our guest to feel very comfortable. I will go out of my way to help them have an enjoyable visit. I love sharing my special place/home with guest. 99.9% love the experience.
Malcolm Giles purchased this house in 1999
Wanted time away from the busy 'Valley of the Sun' time to relax and rejuvenate one soul and time to enjoy nature. Time to live in the now and be present to myself. The fun part now is I can share these moments with our wonderful guest.
No one is around, you are alone in the woods and you will not see anyone else while you are there. Why not get away from the crowds. I promise you will not want to leave.
We came to vacation and get out of the valley. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. We enjoyed rain storms, fresh air and relaxed. We didn't see any animals but it was nice stop between the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Williams. Which we were able to visit all due to the wonderful location of the cabin. Very peaceful, love the location, cabin had everything you could need. Plenty of water, lines, dishes and utensils, etc. Thank you for letting us use the garage to put ours in to keep animals away. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay.
What a fantastic stay! We came as a company of actors who needed a home for a weekend while doing a show in Flagstaff, and the cabin environment was so relaxing and invigorating. The property was beautiful and welcoming--highly recommended!
This was the ideal get away for our parents' 40th anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and all of it's rustic charm. It is literally in the middle of the Coconino woods so you may get lucky and see some deer or elk in the early morning. The house was spacious and comfortable with plenty of space for our family. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway.
We stayed at the Cedar House on our bike trip out west, and use it as our rally point to visit the Grand Canyon. It was only an hour away, so your close enough to be there, and far enough away to get away from the touristy groups. The house was awesome, plenty of room for everyone, and enough space to just unwind and relax in the nothing. Very quiet and secluded, which is just what the doctor ordered. The owners were very welcoming, and answered all my questions, and were right on spot with anything I needed. I would suggest this spot to any of my friends and family. Thanks a ton Malcolm. We really enjoyed it. I'll try and send you the best pic of our vacation as it was of your place there, at night.
I'm giving this property one star based solely on my and my family's interactions with the people involved. The cabin itself was very nice and secluded, with beautiful woods surrounding it. The location was good for our visit, due to its promixity to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. However, the property manager/owner, from first contact, was short, impatient and unnecessarily rude. Even so, we decided to rent anyway because of the positives stated above. During our stay, we had a disturbing encounter with a neighbor. We were heading out for the day to visit the Grand Canyon in two cars filled with kids, when we were forced to stop at a homemade roadblock. The neighbor had piled huge rocks across the dirt road leading off the property preventing us from passing. When we stopped, the neighbor angrily approached our cars and began to scream and curse at us, shouting that he was "sick of out-of-town folks coming in and out all the time." When we asked what we had done or could do differently, he cursed at us again saying that if we "wanted to leave, we'd have to remove the roadblock ourselves." We did get out and work to remove the rocks, all under the angry glare of the neighbor. It was a very scary and confusing situation for the adults, not to mention our kids. I can only assume that this man has had some bad experience with VRBO renters and we were just there at the wrong time. Still, I would consider this man very unreasonable and dangerous. I would give serious consideration to the safety of my family if renting here. We made mention of this encounter to the property manager, so it's possible he has spoken with the man. After our stay, we had to contact the property manager 4 times to get our deposit back. The first time, he stated that he would be happy to give it back but implied he would wait until we gave him a 5 star review. We felt this to be a bit underhanded, so we did not leave the review and this led to us having to contact him three more times in an effort to get our deposit back. Each time we called, the property manager became more irritated, rude and insulting. He did eventually refund us our deposit, but it took over a month and 4 needless, upsetting phone calls. He really made the experience unnecessarily problematic and I would not recommend this property for that reason.
This property was a rustic country cabin feel and was great for our family vacation. We were within a few minutes to Flagstaff and Williams (both great little towns), within an hour to Sedona and Grand Canyon. The house was clean and provided all we needed, with the exception that the Sofa Bed was broken, and that one bedroom was above the garage. But we made the best of it and was very pleased with our stay. Had plenty of cookware, and necessary items for our stay. Thank you for all you help and the ease in making this first rental a pleasurable one.
Actually our stay was in Oct 2013, but I forgot to add our review. We've stayed at this wonderful home a few times over a period of 3 years and absolutely loved it each time. We love the location, the property, the home, the rental rates, and working with the owner. It's a great place for a family vacation or group outing!
Downhill skiing or the Polar Express in the winter, horseback riding, the Grand Canyon Railway, or just walking in the woods...It is all accessible from this secluded retreat.
Your GPS may say to turn on Puddle Place, street now is called Silver St.
