Beachy roomy comfy place

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable place with great pool area and steps from the beach. 2 over sized bedrooms and one small bedroom, all with their own bathrooms. A rental, so not perfect, but it had a lot of character and liked that the bedrooms were separated and private. We had a couple questions and the owner got back to us immediately. Had difficulty locking the right sliding door out to the pool, so once we figured it out we just used the left door. Didn't use the grill, but everything was clean.

A home with great beach access in need of repair

  • 2 of 5

What attracted us to this house was the description of the beach access, pet friendly, pool, with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. I found the negative reviews on point and wished we had paid more attention. The pros are listed in the introductory sentence and here are the cons:

the roof leaks in the living room where we contacted the owner upon arrival. To his credit he did send a person to inspect the cause on Sunday. It rained during the week where we placed a bowl to catch the water and not leak on the coach cushions. We requested no repair person to come since we'd have to be available to let them in the house. The pots and pans are very old and not conducive to use; kitchen supplies are limited (only 4 coffee cups); half of the toaster did not work; insufficient linens for 3 bedrooms--only 1 bedroom had limited washcloths, the smallest bedroom had primarily beach towels; lamps had either blown lightbulbs or no lightbulbs; owner's manual listed 4 beach fobs with a $50 fee for replacement of a fob, there were only 3 upon our arrival that we reported immediately; the tarp over the patio was severely torn making the area unusable; there was a tenant who stayed in an apartment above the garage where you have to share the driveway. He rents for 10 weeks and has been coming down for several years. Even though his family was very courteous, quiet, and helpful with restaurants, there is no mention of this rental in the ad. Three large vehicles (for the home) cannot fit into the driveway. The house is advertised as pet friendly, but the entry road is private where you cannot walk your dog on the street to get to the primary road (Midnight Pass). The water heater could not accommodate 4 consecutive showers before running out of hot water. We reported the heating element must be broken. It was difficult to regulate the water temperature in one shower where it was either scolding hot or cold. The pool area had a random small grill where the used coals where dumped in the mulch. The grill for the patio off the kitchen area had 2 empty gas tanks. Basically, this house had a great beach location with much needed repairs and updates. We will not rent this place again.

roomy beach cottage

  • 4 of 5

Just like others have said, this older beach house is definitely "island living". It really is steps from the Gulf of Mexico. The rooms are pretty spacious (two very large bedrooms and one not so big). It was wonderful having our own private pool to enjoy and although you share it with renters above the garage, they never used it while we were there. The kitchen is well stocked and there's a gas grill available. We all were comfortable. There were a few little things like burned out bulbs and a very heavy sliding glass door to the patio but every house has something you have to deal with. It was evident that the owner was engaged because while we were there a pool guy, a landscaping guy and a plumber all came. the first two were doing routine maintenance and the third was there to give an estimate on a new water heater. This is an older property that has great character in the living room.

Super close to the beach, clean house

  • 4 of 5

This home was very clean in the inside, but the outside of the home needed a lot of maintenance. As I arrived at the home I thought I was in the wrong place because there were toys, chairs in the outside, It looked like someone was living there but then I realized that I obviously was in the correct place. The pool area was a little dirty as well, the pool itself was very clean but the surrounding (where the pool stuff and toys were was dirty). The front specially needs some work, you couldn't really past to the front door because the little tree (that is on the picture) was super long and the bushes were in the way of the entrance. Also it does have a barbecue area, but it was very dirty as well, We couldn't use the grill because it was so dirty. That was the only reason I do not give this home 5 stars. Also as soon as I walked in saw a HUGE cockroach in the entrance, (not a big deal) but the kids were super afraid, other than that the house its self was pretty clean, and I felt comfortable, we did not see anymore cockroaches after that. I loved having to not share the pool area (the house has two parts to it, the house and the side has a little apartment complex) When we stayed the apartment side had no tenants, but I am not sure if the house shares the pool when their are tenants there. Other then that I loved the house, super clean, super spacious, the pool was clean, the rooms are huge, and I loved the private beach access it gave us. The house is literally like 10 steps from the beach ( my favorite part). Also, the owners were super responsive to my questions and needs and I am thankful for that. If I ever stay at siesta key I would def stay here, since I know the house and how close it is to the beach

Siesta Beach has recently been rated number one in the USA. White sand is as soft as flour. The Gulf is perfect for children and offers opportunities for skim boarding, floating, sand play and more. The gentle coastline with wide beaches is perfect for long beach walks and beautiful sunset viewing.
