Nice, spacious, clean, great location, and heated pool was a highlight

  • 5 of 5

We definitely would recommend this property and owner, Brian. We shared it with another family and there was plenty of space and bathrooms. When we arrived, there was a problem with one of the sliding door locks and Brian had a handyman out there to fix it within an hour. The pool was heated to 84 degrees, which was perfect. The property was very clean and tidy, inside and out. I would recommend making a trip to buy supplies such as dish scrubbing brush, dish soap, sponges, laundry detergent, soap, trash bags etc., as you never know if there will be any left from the last guest. We could have used a full size broom and dust pan in the house and we could have kept it tidier day-to-day.

Some surprises were that there were sand toys and boogie boards for use on the beach which we enjoyed. There were lounge chairs for use on the beach, but no umbrellas, so we brought some and bought an extra.

The location was excellent. It was truly a couple minute walk to the beach. The beach was filled with powder-white sand and the water a sea green color. Beautiful sunsets. Water temp was great for swimming.

The house has a private beach access path. There is a very natrow strip roped off for "the beach house" guests. On either side, it is reserved for other properties. Nice that it was a private beach area/ Nice people and not too crowded.

We ate at Siesta Key Village- but get there early or it's hard to find parking. Another advantage of an early dinner is you can make it back to the beach for the sunset.

Location & pool great; cockroaches not

  • 3 of 5

Location great. Lots of room in house for our family of 5. Private pool great plus. Description of house says "newly updated"...appliances are but that's about it. However, finding 4 cockroaches during the week (3 pretty much dead, 1 very much alive) not so great. I swept/cleaned kitchen every day. Broom provided not much help and I bought disinfecting wipes to clean counters/kitchen table. It could be a great place to stay just needs some love & attention.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry Deanna had an issue. We have pest control and That's why the Palmetto bugs ( NOT cockroaches ) would have been dead. We have glass sliders to the pool and French doors to the rear patio, when left open, they can cause a bug to seek refuge ! It's not a regular problem, but in Florida, not unknown. It has no reflection on a property and I think seldom enough and completely harmless to the island ...

Beachy roomy comfy place

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable place with great pool area and steps from the beach. 2 over sized bedrooms and one small bedroom, all with their own bathrooms. A rental, so not perfect, but it had a lot of character and liked that the bedrooms were separated and private. We had a couple questions and the owner got back to us immediately. Had difficulty locking the right sliding door out to the pool, so once we figured it out we just used the left door. Didn't use the grill, but everything was clean.

A home with great beach access in need of repair

  • 2 of 5

What attracted us to this house was the description of the beach access, pet friendly, pool, with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. I found the negative reviews on point and wished we had paid more attention. The pros are listed in the introductory sentence and here are the cons:

the roof leaks in the living room where we contacted the owner upon arrival. To his credit he did send a person to inspect the cause on Sunday. It rained during the week where we placed a bowl to catch the water and not leak on the coach cushions. We requested no repair person to come since we'd have to be available to let them in the house. The pots and pans are very old and not conducive to use; kitchen supplies are limited (only 4 coffee cups); half of the toaster did not work; insufficient linens for 3 bedrooms--only 1 bedroom had limited washcloths, the smallest bedroom had primarily beach towels; lamps had either blown lightbulbs or no lightbulbs; owner's manual listed 4 beach fobs with a $50 fee for replacement of a fob, there were only 3 upon our arrival that we reported immediately; the tarp over the patio was severely torn making the area unusable; there was a tenant who stayed in an apartment above the garage where you have to share the driveway. He rents for 10 weeks and has been coming down for several years. Even though his family was very courteous, quiet, and helpful with restaurants, there is no mention of this rental in the ad. Three large vehicles (for the home) cannot fit into the driveway. The house is advertised as pet friendly, but the entry road is private where you cannot walk your dog on the street to get to the primary road (Midnight Pass). The water heater could not accommodate 4 consecutive showers before running out of hot water. We reported the heating element must be broken. It was difficult to regulate the water temperature in one shower where it was either scolding hot or cold. The pool area had a random small grill where the used coals where dumped in the mulch. The grill for the patio off the kitchen area had 2 empty gas tanks. Basically, this house had a great beach location with much needed repairs and updates. We will not rent this place again.

Map

Siesta Beach has recently been rated number one in the USA. White sand is as soft as flour. The Gulf is perfect for children and offers opportunities for skim boarding, floating, sand play and more. The gentle coastline with wide beaches is perfect for long beach walks and beautiful sunset viewing.
