This privately owned spacious luxury villa is an ideal self catering holiday home furnished to a very high standard. The large, comfortable open plan lounge is complemented with TV/satellite and music system as well as a dining area for eight. Terraces surround lounge, dining and bedrooms providing stunning views overlooking the beach, sea and the privately owned Castle of St. Joao de Arade. Heating and air conditioning units ensure all year round suitability and comfort. Safe expansive sandy beaches are on the doorstep and the unspoilt fishing village is a short stroll away. Fabulous for both adults and children. The heart of Ferragudo centres around the local square and cobbled streets, with good local restaurants in the village and along the quayside. Water sports, horse riding and golf are within close proximity, this location offers something for all members of the family. A car isn't necessary unless you wish to explore the countryside as amenities are all within a short walking distance.
The Algarve, Ferragudo: Situated to the south of Portugal, on the southwest tip of Europe, the Algarve has one of the world's most beautiful, unspoilt stretches of coast land and has been described as a unique jewel with the finest sandy beaches and the perfect sunny climate with a world-renowned reputation. The Algarve is one of Europe's sunniest spots and beautiful weather can be enjoyed throughout the year. In the winter months, when the sun goes down, if the evening is cool, then a nice log fire in the villa makes for a cosy setting. For some clients all that is needed is a low key relaxing holiday, for others the prerequisite will be a private pool and a large safe sandy beach for the children to play on, Ferragudo has something for everyone of all ages.
Ferragudo Village with its elevated structure and whitewashed houses, still provides all that's good about tradition and yet manages to meet the demands of its visitors without disruption. We are pleased to welcome back guests time and again.
Getting to Ferragudo: We have guests who arrive at both Faro Airport, Seville and Lisbon. The villa is about 45 minutes drive from Faro and we can organise for you to be met at the airport if you do not wish to hire a car. Car hire is not essential but collection is easily organised at the airport or can be arranged locally in Ferragudo. Some clients are met at the airport and taken to the villa and then hire a car locally for a few days only, if they wish to get out and about. For clients coming into Lisbon and Seville, the drive is about three hours and motorway most of the way. If you decide to drive, we provide information before you travel on directions to the villa.
Train is an option from Faro to Portimao or Ferrugudo but be aware that whilst the trains are traditional and clean in true Portuguese relaxed and chilled style, they do take a little time to get you to your destination.
There isn't a month that isn't beautiful in this location. In the winter months the bright sunny days are beautiful for long walks or for just sitting around in the village square having coffee and light refreshments. In the early months of the year there are often local festivals and it's a joy to see the local residents and their families enjoying the activity. Visitors are always made to feel welcome.
The villa is close to Alamos Golf; Alto, Gramacho Golf; Palmares, Penina, Pinta, Vale De Milho and Vale de Lobo golf resorts. We have clients who return to our villa year after year to play, some of them having other family members who prefer to go to the beach whilst the gofers go off blissfully knowing that they have as long as they need to play a round or two of golf. Some of the go.fing enthusiasts take their partners along with them to the golf resort and surprise their partners with lovely pampering sessions in the resort spa or beauty salon.
Activities for the family: The villa overlooks the beach and is within easy access of water sport facilities, a marina, zoos, marine parks, aqua playgrounds, diving, fishing, sailing, golf and horse riding. The beach is long and wide, the sea on the local beach is usually calm and safe for children to swim unlike some of the smaller beaches which surround the coastline. There are four excellent, family orientated beach cafes/bars offering good refreshments and sun umbrellas and lounge chairs if that is what is wanted. Beach volleyball and kite flying can also be seen frequently at the end of the day when the sun is going down. If one is really lucky, you will see a past Portuguese kite windsurfing champions in action on the Praire Grande beach, (the local beach).
From Ferragudo quayside, a small boat will take you for a few euros across to the Portimao marina where you can enjoy more restaurants, a luxurious beach facility or just a stroll along another beach boardwalk. Great for adults and children.

About Phillip or Janise
We are very busy people and have travelled to many locations around the world both on business and for holidays. After holidaying in Ferragudo for three years we purchased the villa. It is for us an ideal location to relax, chill out and enjoy ourselves in a lovely climate right by the sea with our children, grandchildren and friends. Not only are we overlooking a beach but the village is just a short stroll away where there are local traditional quality restaurants and the local cafes in the village square where our friends and family join us quite frequently from as far away as Australia and Honk Kong.
Why Phillip or Janise chose Ferragudo
It overlooks the sea and a large sandy beach. The short walk to the village means that everything is easily accessible. The local village has a local community and vibrant, relaxing and traditional qualities. It's quite unique. There is always something to see from the windows, of the villa, fishing vessels coming back from sea, yachts making their way to the Marina. Children playing on the beach and of course the beautiful little village square surrounded by local restaurants, shops and cafes. Still very traditional and a place occupied by very nice, friendly Portuguese families.
What makes this Villa unique
Spacious villa, very comfortable with great views across the bay. The location is prime and facilities are within walking distance. We have the best of both worlds, a private swimming pool and wonderful beach. It's rare that one can find the benefits of private pool, beach on the doorstep, sea views and all within the closest walking proximity of a charming traditional village with good restaurants, cafes and lovely local people. For those that wish to relax and do little, it’s the place to be. If you want good food, it’s a great location. If golf, tennis, fishing or water sports are high on the agenda, facilities are all close by. If walking is a hobby, then there are great cliff walks to be had.

Perfect spacious everything you could need for a family holiday with all ages.
6 adults and 2 small children were all delighted with the villa. It's position is great, 10 mins walking distance to the beach but its own lovely pool to cool off in and play and learn to swim. From the house always something to watch as boats go in and out of Portimao.
The villa is well equipped and well maintained .
Anne I’m so pleased you and your family from Australia enjoyed your special get together and stay in our villa. Precious memories I hope.
Easily one of the best villas we had and we travel a lot...It's APRIL and already 3rd holiday for us family of 5 this yr. 5 min walk to sandy beach with rock pools & photocard worth castle seaside restraunts, water park 30 min away, airport 50 min away...difficult to beat this....only upset for us was that we couldn't use swimpoll partly because it rained most days and partly because it was too deep for beginners like our kids. Villa is amazing....lots of space, well equipped kitchen, high quality 5 star decor and most importantly ready access to taxi via wilma and housekeeper Lurdes ...its just a dream come true for us! Kids never wanted to leave and we will be sure to go back...special word of thanks to Janis , owner for all the info&help and for so thoughtfully equiping the villa to be trouble free-I can tell you its not easy unless she is a passionate /experienced traveller herself - we enjoyed it thouroughly, may god bless you all. Gunaganti family, Kent
This has just come through, thank you. I’m pleased you had a good time and that we will hopefully be seeing you again. It sounds like you were very unlucky with the weather. I take for granted that when we go, which is at all different times of the year, that the sky will be sunny and bright even in the winter months and that there won’t be rain. In eleven years I’ve only been to the villa once when it rained for a day in May.
Once again, thank you for your kind words. Janise
A home from home
My family and I all had a wonderful time spent in Villa Castello. It has the most gorgeous views from the top balcony - as their are 3 in total. The location was perfect. It's a 5 minute walk to a beautiful child friendly beach and a 5 minute walk into the village. We ate out every evening as there are some wonderful restaurants which you need to book in peak season. Janis - the owner gave us a very indepth itinerary of the local area, restaurants and their telephone numbers. As well as other useful information. The villa itself is beautiful and has absolutely everything you need. It is a home from home. The best thing was being able to do my laundry prior to going home as it saves you days of washing. There is a fabulous bakery in the village which my husband walked to daily for the fresh bread, cakes and pies etc.... Wilma was a godsend, she is a lovely lady who does the taxi transfers. We left our buggies at the airport and she kindly picked them up for us. We loved it that much we booked to go back next year.
So pleased you had a good time and that some of the practical things also supported you before you left. Look forward to welcoming you again next year. Kind regards
We had a fantastic stay, the villa is absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed and more! The location was fabulous- everything was in walking distance just like you said, we loved getting fresh bread every day, and of course I can't miss out the lovely Lurdes! She was so helpful and dealt with any queries we had straight away. Must say thank you for the welcome pack very much appreciated.
We all agreed that we wanted to have a villa just like yours!
We have now got post holiday blues and we all want to be back! We felt like we had found the real Portugal, lovely people and stunning location with quaint picture postcard houses.
So glad we found your villa, I will be recommending it to everyone. Hopefully we will be back and soon!
Thank you Eve for you kind words. We felt the same about Ferragudo, hence how we ended up buying a property there. Look forward to hearing from you at some future time.
Perfect place to stay
This is the best villa I have ever stayed in. It's ideal for holidays with family or friends. It's very spacious, pristinely maintained, fully equipped and furnished beautifully. It has a great pool and entertaining area with barbecue. The villa is minutes walk to a huge beach lined with quality restaurants and also to the main village square in Ferragudo. It's also close to numerous golf courses.
Lovely to have you back for the family reunion in Ferragudo. Australia is a long way to travel from and obviously I'm always happy when I know your trips and stay at the villa has worked so well for you both. Wishing you well u til the next time.
Outstaning family villa in Ferragudo
If you want home from home luxury, look no further, this well appointed villa in the beautiful town of Ferragudo is the idyllic place to stay.
Should you wish to entertain the kitchen and dining areas with the beautiful lounge plus a balcony overlooking the harbour is just breath taking.
There are four spacious bedrooms, two with en-suite.
The property has been tastefully decorated throughout to a very high standard with everything at your fingertips.
The pool area is a beautiful sun trap but if you need shade then there is plenty of places to find it.
Nothing has been left to chance. Your every need is catered for.
We have found a 'Jewel in the Crown' and have already booked again for next year.
Dear Denise and Dave, it's good to know that you had another good holiday at the villa and we look forward to your return next year. Kind regards Janise
Ferragudo in the Algarve is a charming and picturesque location that remains true to its Portuguese fishing village roots retaining traditional charm but yet close to the larger resorts of Portimao, Praia de Rocha, Lagos, Carvoeiro and Silves. Faro airport is just a short distance away and Lisbon is also another easy access route for international travellers. The heart of the village centres around the square which is only a short stroll away from the villa. With wonderful beaches, golf and sailing facilities, as well as the opportunities for long walks with breathtaking views, it's a wonderful location and ideal for those wanting a luxury self catering villa in a great location.. Local restaurants and bars provide good food and traditional entertainment. For those self catering but wishing variety, Portimao Marina restaurants are an excellent alternative to eating in the surroundings of Ferragudo village.
Other Activities:paddle boarding Kite surfing, sailing, diving, tennis, golf, canoeing
Golf: Already an area renowned for its golf, big game fishing, saliling and scuba diving.
Portugal provides an all year round climate which facilitates the golfing fraternity. Early morning and late afternoon golf is excellent in the summer months and with the mild winter climate, there is no restriction to what time of day a round of golf can be played in the other months throughout the year.
A great selection of courses are all within easy reach of our villa such as The Pinta and Gramacho courses at neighbouring Carvoeiro which is only five minutes away, as well as just a slightly longer drive to the championship course of Penina. There is over 20 courses within a 40 minute drive.
Keen golfers find that the location of this villa is ideal to combine both a beach and a golfing holiday and it also works well for partners and children who do not participate in the sport. Something for everyone.
One of the latest attractions is the Algarve International Racing Circuit (Autodromo International de Portimao) which hosts F1 and the superbike sports. Only a short drive away from this circuit our villa is well positioned to accommodate people who will be attending events at this premier race track. It's good to know that 2014 will attract this event again and the clients who attend.
