This is a truly hidden gem situated in a quiet Edwardian square, with free parking and is ideally located within walking distance of Manchester centre or a short stroll to the bus stop or train station which provide frequent forms of transport into the city.

This 2 bedroom house is fully furnished to the highest standard with no detail compromised. If only 2 people are staying please inform us if the second bedroom is to be used.

I am an English lady who loves travelling to different parts of the world. I like to meet different people and find out about their different cultures. I am very much into architecture, the oldest the better.

These days I travel mainly with my daughter, who lives with me, along with a cat called Alfie, who is the nosiest cat around. I love going on walks to the nearby countryside and river. My son lives and works in London, but still likes to come to visit us.

Why Yvonne chose Greater Manchester

Situated in a back water of Manchester in a quiet beautiful and restful Edwardian Square which is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but within walking distance of Manchester centre, or alternatively an easy stroll away from the frequent direct busses or trains to the centre.

In spring you have the cherry blossom trees and in winter the snow. It is an old fire station which moved many years ago. Our immaculately maintained property, offers free parking on the cobbled drive, as it is traffic warden controlled elsewhere and a very fast broadband included in the price.

Breaks here are aimed at families or couples. The setting is not suited to hen, stag or any other type of party.

The kitchen is well equipped and includes basic essentials like tea, coffee and a few food supplies. Provided is a coffee machine, which uses Nescafe Dolcé Gusto pods and available from any large supermarket.

Large bi-fold doors extend across the rear, looking out onto a terrace with a round glass table, wooden chairs, with padded seat covers, along with pot plants and a well-stocked garden.

All fresh bedding is provided, along with abundance of soft fresh towels, a couple of robes and two hair-dryers are available.

Old Trafford football club, Etihad stadium, the Chill Factore, and the Trafford Centre which is the famous shopping centre, are all close by.

The house is less than a mile away to the M602 which links to the motorway networks.

What makes this house unique

Positioned behind the square overlooking Salford University and Museum and Art Gallery.

Salford Cathedral just down the road.

Peel park to walk round is just next to the river over the road.

Fast Broadband.

Free parking, but close Close proximity to Manchester centre by either walking or jumping onto a frequent bus which can be caught within a short stroll.

Salford Crescent train station is just across the main road on the other side of the square.

Quiet garden with use of table, chairs and padded seat covers.

A lovely house in a good location.

It is well positioned, near to a bus stop to catch a bus to Salford Quays and Manchester. Yvonne, the owner, was a good communicator before we arrived with any questions we had. Everything and more was provided in the house.

We had a great time on our break and to stay in this lovely house was wonderful, would definitely recommend.

Impressive

Just like the photographs, surrounded by trees. Wouldn't think you were so close to the City. House just like the web site name "Home away from home," very clean, well appointed, lovely kitchen and patio garden, we felt very relaxed and comfortable there had a slight problem with heating timer but wouldn't prevent us booking again on our next visit to Manchester.

A wonderful time in Salford

Overall, staying at Yvonne's home was a delightful experience. The property is spotlessly clean, very well prepared and most inviting. There is a detailed house manual that includes pretty much everything that one might need to know about staying at the home. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is excellent, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. The kitchen has everything that one could need, including coffee machine, dishwasher, granite counter tops, and a great island for food preparation. Additionally, off-road parking is available right in front of the house.

The location is nigh on perfect as one has easy access to Salford Quays, Manchester city center, supermarkets, and the motorway network surrounding the area, from the M602, M60, M62 and M56. The drive from Manchester Airport takes only 20 minutes. Even the Lakes District, Chester and Snowdonia National Park are easy day trips. It is also within easy reach of Manchester United Football Club at Old Trafford but, being a City fan, I wouldn't recommend going.

Try and visit the Lowry at Salford Quays if you have time. We enjoyed an excellent guided tour while we were there. The tour starts at noon (check the website before you go) and lasts for about 45 minutes. The tour and the entrance are both free of charge, although a donation to the museum is suggested.

Yvonne was a great host, being attentive to questions and generous with her time.

The house is a little tricky to get to if arriving by car from the airport as it involves a little bit of navigation. However, the Garmin proved most accurate and, having navigated the route once, it was easy to follow subsequently. If you don't have GPS, Yvonne will provide detailed instructions for driving to the property.

The only downside to the entire experience is that we couldn't stay longer. Without a doubt, any return to the Manchester area will involve a stay at Yvonne's home. Being a Manchester lad who lived in the area for 50 years, I can't say better than that!

Wonderful Manchester Flat

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Exactly as described. Every amenity needed was there. Very clean and everything worked perfectly. Nice quiet neighborhood. Very comfortable and spacious property. Convenient, free parking spot for our rental car. Easy access to main motorways in and out of town. several pubs within walking distance and several transportation options nearby also. We had a great stay and would recommend Yvonne's property to anyone who has a stay in Manchester planned.

Immaculate Property

Furnishings and supplies were thoughtfully considered and all needs were met. The property is beautifully maintained. The location is ideally situated near a train station and bus connections. This home is highly recommended!

Beautiful property in a handy location

My husband and I spent two nights in this fantastic property over the Christmas period.

The house is decorated and equipped to the highest standard with all mod cons, we didn't want to leave!

The owner, Yvonne, was most helpful in the lead up to our stay and also put up Christmas decorations which added to the homely feel.

The location is great for the city centre and taxis only cost £5 each way.

We will most definitely be using this property whenever we need to stay in Manchester.

Address is:- 17 Fire Station Square, Manchester, M5 4NZ

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:-The square is tucked away off Christchurch Avenue. There are three ways of approaching:-

1) Coming from Manchester along the A6 (The Crescent) pass the entrance of Salford university on the right and take the next left across a bus lane - University Road West. Then left again - Christchurch Ave - follow the road round into the square at the end.

2) Coming from the opposite direction along the A6 (Broad Street) - MacDonalds in on your right and Salford Crescent Train Station on you left, turn left immediately behind the station, - University Road - this road drops down to a roundabout. Take first exit and double back on yourself under the road. Turn first right onto Christchurch Ave and Fire Station Sq is at the end.

3) You could approach the traffic lights at the end of Albion Way which meets the A6, with MacDonalds on your left corner. Bear right and go sort of straight across and take the road immediately behind Salford Crescent Train Station, down to a roundabout. Take first exit and double back on yourself under the road. Turn first right onto Christchurch Ave and Fire Station Sq is at the end.

WALKING from train station or bus stop:-

From Piccadilly Train Station there is a direct train to Salford Crescent at regular times and takes 9 mins. It is a short stroll to my place.

Walk out of the station and turn left, walk down the road to the front of Salford University and Salford Museum and Art Gallery. Cross the road using the crossing and walk directly across Crescent square, which has a fountain (might not be working) and in the corner there is a large arch which is the pedestrian entrance into Fire Station Sq.

There are regular buses that stop outside the university (Crescent Square) so follow the instructions above.
