My Husband and I stayed at the cottage for a week. The cottage was just what we thought it would be for an 1800's home. Unique, quaint, and situated in a great spot. Huge lawn, quiet, and the outside of the place is well kept. It is within driving distance to many great attractions.
A few disappointing things with our stay included the water in the house. It smelled like sulfur or a rotten egg. It did not make showering a pleasant experience. A filter system may help with this problem. The other thing that needed to be addressed was the smell of must in the living room. We put it down to the rug and the many old books that lined the bookshelf. Not good for anyone with allergies.
The cottage appeared to be clean enough except in the kitchen. When we arrived there was a sponge and rag on the sink that looked black with grime and the dish rack was filthy. Aside from this, the rest of the place appeared to be clean.
All in all, we used the cottage as a base camp for taking day trips to many attractions, however, we would suggest to the owners to please address the concerns that are stated above. We left a one page write up at the cottage, but to date, we have never hear a response from the owner.
On a different note, we suggest going to see Timber Tina's chainsaw show, it was fun.
Dear Cassie, I have been meaning to write to you for a long time. We had a fabulous time this summer, and I guess you know we are returning next summer for 9 weeks--maybe more if it isn't rented. When I walked in and saw the flowers on the table - I was so pleased. What a cheerful room. Thank you for your part in making our stay such a good one. Hope you have a good winter. We have a few questions about next year and will probably send your dad and John a letter. You never told us we could expect lobsters. What a treat, we ate lobster alot, but the ones we cooked ourselves were indeed the best. Regards, Pam Silar
The Cozy cottage is only 35 minutes from the most beautiful tourist location in the whole state of Maine, Bar Harbor(activity ideas to come below). The Cozy Cottage sits on 3 acres of colorful and tranquil land, with the sight of the beautiful ocean in your front yard. Wake up and enjoy your coffee on the front deck or stay up late and enjoy the cool, but comfortable, Maine nights. About 15 miles away you will find part of Acadia National Park, Schoodic Mountain. Schoodic Mountain is a great hike for beginners or experienced hikers. Once at the top you will find a great view of Downeast Maine and the private beach below, Donnells Pond. After hiking down, take a dip in the cool stream fed pond. You won't believe how clear and refreshing it is.
