About The Sirkin Family

We are 4 siblings who grew up spending summers, holidays, ski breaks and many wonderful gatherings of friends and family at this classic New England house. Our mom bought the property when I was a baby. Three of us now live on the West coast and my sister Susannah lives in Boston. She is pictured here between the 2 lovely daughters of our caretaker, Lisa.

The Sirkin Family purchased this farmhouse in 1961

Why The Sirkin Family chose Acworth

Our parents both have New England roots, on our mother's side going back to the Pilgrims, and our father was born in Vermont. Our dad was a US diplomat and we lived in Washington, DC when our mom went looking for a place to have as a New England base for the family. The property was just what she was looking for; a charming old colonial era house down the end of a dirt road on 100 acres, outside a quaint historic town, with a gorgeous lake and skiing nearby.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Peace and tranquility, rustic antique charm, lovely private swimming pond, birch trees, nearby lake, hiking, skiing, and boating.

What a great place!

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of old friends who love to get together, and this was a wonderful place for the eight of us. Plenty of room to all gather - with a lovely large table in the kitchen and a very comfy living room - yet enough privacy, too. Even in mid-October we were able to spend quite a bit of time on the back porch, which has a lovely view and it also very comfortable. The kitchen is extrememly well equipped. This is a comfortable, well-loved and cared for place, and we could feel it as soon as we walked through the front door. Lisa was very accommodating and the info book had everything we needed. This would be a great place any time of year, and we'll be back!

Excellent Location with Lots of Privacy. The area is great too with lots to do. One can really unplug and relax on the property. The House is Cozy and unique in it's Layout, the owners are responsive to inquiries and the cleaning staff were very friendly and accomodating. We plan to return again.

FAMILY FUN!!

  • 5 of 5

This property is wonderful. My family and I loved being there. The mornings are spectacular! We loved having meals together around the farmers table in the spacious kitchen. The kitchen was a great place for the family to come together. Our dog loved the screened in back porch and we all absolutely loved the swimming pond. The house was clean and filled with really cool antiques. I would absolutely rent this property again. It is a very special home that is well taken care of. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Great family home with lots of charm and character. Great kitchen table for large gatherings.

  • 4 of 5

Great off the beaten track location on a great property for exploring. We drove 30 minutes to ski at Sunapea each day and enjoyed coming back to a warm fire and great gathering place for dinner.

We will rent again with lots of room for up to 3 families.

Would return here anytime and highly recommend this beautiful historical property.

Grandparents, parents and children had a great week here.

The boys liked the pond so much that they chose to ignore the lake!

Lisa, property manager, was responsive to any questions.

There are many "extras" in this house so it feels like a home.

It is historic yet comfortable.

Go and enjoy!

Great property

  • 4 of 5

The Sirkin family home and property was great. We enjoyed the expansive yard playing lawn games and taking a dip in the pond. We took a walk down the trail to Crescent Lake which was enjoyable too.

The house was clean, plenty of towels, cooking supplies/tools, etc. There was a lot of space/rooms for each family to have a spot of their own. We had an uncharacteristically hot few days so it was hard to get the upstairs cool even with fans and windows open.

Overall we enjoyed the character of the house and the country setting away from the hustle and bustle.
