Cape Cod House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1full and one half bath, sleeps 4

Simply Delightful. Enter this charming Cape Cod cottage from a private parking area off this secluded little cul-de-sac and walk down a short hallway to ... WOW! An extraordinary sweeping vista afforded by multi-paned windows and wide sliding glass doors which open onto the 40-foot deck. Start and end your day with serenity, gaze over peaceful salt marshes and Cape Cod Bay. Watch the sun rise over the Bay. Be awed by starry, starry nights. Make a wish upon a shooting star. Nature performs - four shows daily - the tide ebbs and flows to eight feet and more every six hours. Birds abound - Great Blue Heron, Mallard Duck, Canada Geese, Osprey, owls, hawks, songbirds and of course seagulls.

Sandy Cape Cod Bay beaches are a short drive away...or a nice one mile walk to the Sandwich Boardwalk at Town Neck Beach.

In the Garden you will find:: A cutting garden - fresh flowers for you.

Go across the railway track and fly-fish for Striped Bass, weakfish and blues in the marsh at hight tide.

In the Spring, wonderful Rhododendron bloom in the yard, and within walking distance (a longish walk), discover Heritage Gardens, a museum and garden complex which includes extensive gorgeous displays of Rhododendron and azalea, and a wonderful selection of Art, Motor Vehicle, Military, Baseball and other Musea, including a REAL 1902 Merry-Go-Round with rare original carved animals - endless rides included with admission to the grounds ...

In the Fall, lie out on the deck and watch spectacular meteor showers. Truly Awesome.

You cannot run out of things to do : in Sandwich and Cape Cod.

Catch a game or two of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where up-and-coming players from all over come to join the teams each summer.

Live theatre, both amateur and professional in nearby Barnstable, Dennis and Falmouth and a little farther away in Provincetown and Chatham.

Wonderful bike rides, kayaking and canoeing, Golf, mini- and max. Go Whalewatching - see Right Whales, Humpbacks, Pilots, Minkes, even dolphins - Right Up Close!

Catch striped bass and bluefish from the beach in the Fall, and from alongside the Cape Cod Canal all season.

Buy lobster (the market will even cook it for you!) YUM.

Pick up some sandwiches and a bottle of wine or some great Ginger Beer at The Brown Jug and have yourselves a picnic along the Cape Cod Canal ,or on the beach past the Sandwich Boardwalk - a nice walk from the house.

If it's ReallyReally hot outside, go ice skating at the Gallo rink, just along Route 6A between Sandwich and The Bourne Bridge

If you'd like to wander further afield: take a ride up Route 3A to Plymouth, where the Pilgrims landed in the Mayflower - see Plymouth Rock and visit Plymouth Plantation - see how the Pilgrims lived, watch them work in their homes, gardens, smithys and other trades - converse with them (they speak 16th Century English!).

Go to the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Foxwoods Resort and Mohegan Sun Casinos are less than 2 hours away by car or bus.

See Boston: The Freedom Trail, Harvard Peabody Museum, MIT, The Kennedy Library, Theatre, Chinatown, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, all this and tons more just a hour's drive or bus ride up the road.

5 Land's End Lane is a wonderful summer rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at 5LEL in August. The house is charming and just as described in the Home Away publicity. The master bedroom is spacious, both bedrooms have closets and chests of drawers and the mattresses are comfortable; the bathrooms function well. The living/dining room is big, has good lighting, and the dining table, chairs and sofas are perfect for evening activities. The kitchen is beautifully equipped (we ate in a lot), and it functions extremely well. The house is peaceful and also within a short walk (approx. 25 minutes) of Sandwich Town Centre, and the Boardwalk and Creek - we regularly walked or rode bikes to both. (We also visited the Heritage Gardens, the Cape Cod Canal, the library, and took the summer weekend trolley ride around all the main sites). It is the views over the salt marsh out to the ocean, and the birdlife, along with the fun of the occasional passing train, however, which make 5LEL particularly special. The comfy deck furniture was inviting and so made us want to spend time on the gorgeous deck soaking up the seaside atmosphere and views. An added pleasure to our visit was meeting Rick Spada and his family who were welcoming, kind and very helpful. We would highly recommend 5LEL, and want to thank Rick again for a very happy summer visit to Sandwich.

Private and scenic home with an amazing view

  • 5 of 5

The actual property is far more beautiful than you would expect from the photos on the Homeaway website. The view from the common area of the home is spectacular and the birds start singing before dawn. An exotic hummingbird visited the feeder on the back porch, which spans the entire back of the house, several times during each day.

Our visiting family members live near Cape Cod, and they were very impressed, asking, "How did you find this house?"

The home is also well appointed. For example, the deck, which spans the width of the back of the house, has a picnic table with 2 benches, 2 full length lounge chairs with foot rests, and 2 large lawn chairs - all chairs had custom-fitted cushions. There are also more chaise lounges and folding chairs in the garage. There's also a gas grill with 4 burners on the back porch, with plenty of gas.

The home is very private - you can't see any other homes or yards from the deck or the inside of the house.

In addition to the deck, there's a large patio in the back yard at ground level, surrounded by high shrubbery. The patio has a fire pit, and very large patio chairs with cushions. This is the ideal spot for toasting s'mores around the fire pit on a cool summer night.

The kitchen is specious enough for multiple cooks; the refrigerator is very large - great for accommodating all the beverages needed for a family gathering. Lots of counter space complements the large oven and gas burners, the automatic dishwasher & over-sized refrigerator.

The porch offers a panoramic view of the beautiful marsh, and a charming, historic Cape Cod train passes on the tracks about twice a day - far enough away for the sound to be pleasant, the train's horn in the distance.

The beds were very comfortable; one bedroom with a queen size bed is situated across the hall from one with 2 twin beds, and there are 2 'jack and jill' bathrooms in between the 2 sleeping areas, along with a hall way. A full shower and tub is in one of the 2 baths.

The location of the home is convenient for a quick trip to the enormous Stop 'n' Shop grocery store and its companion, the CVS drugstore. The latter offers all kinds of beach and picnic items, and will also fill your prescription. This home 's also close to the charming Sandwich town, including a NOT Starbucks coffee shop where you can get fresh baked pastries, cappuccino, lattes, brewed tea, other specialty drinks.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was wonderful! It is well kept and we felt at home from the moment we entered. It is well appointed and had everything that we could have needed which greatly simplified our packing and travel - something which we really appreciated. The view is amazing and relaxing - we spent most of our time taking it all in (even on the one rainy day that we had); watching the changing scenes of water, wildlife and sky.

While vacationing we enjoying exploring the surrounding area which we found much more relaxed and laid back as compared to other parts of the Cape. Some of the highlights were whale watching, visiting the local beaches, walking into Sandwich (stores, restaurants, Glass Museum), eating supper on Town Neck Beach (really close to the house), sampling many ice cream establishments, playing frisbee and badminton in the yard, putting a puzzle together on a rainy day and just enjoying time together as a family.

The owners were great to deal with - very responsive and helpful with our many questions. As compared to other rental experiences we have had, I would say that this was at the very top. We can't say enough good things - I would recommend this rental without any reservations to anyone who is considering it.

A picture-perfect location for a wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

We simply loved every minute of our stay at Rick and Pegs house: the warm welcome (a note on the table, cookies in the cookie jar), a house perfectly clean and completely equipped, the dreamy, quiet location yet close to all amenities. We loved having breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful marsh view while planning the day, and discovering Rick just sent an email with good advice ;-)

Whale watching, lovely beaches, antiques shops, good food and simply delightful people: Cape Cod is just a wonderful holiday destination!

If it were´t so far a journey (we´re from Germany), we´d come back every season! Thank you Rick and Peg for sharing your home with us!

Perfect 2 weeks

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Peg and Ricks holiday cottage for 2 weeks in August. The cottage is lovely, it was well equipped, well maintained and incredibly clean. Peg and Rick and their son Dominic were lovely to deal with, they were very helpful and a great source of information on restaurants, shops, sightseeing etc. We (family of 4, children aged 8 and 11) had a wonderful time and if we didn't live on the other side of the world we would come back again this August.
