Our stay at this home was wonderful! We loved the views and the cottage was very clean and comfortable. Marybeth did everything to make our vacation a special one. We'll be back next year!
The property is situated in a perfect location - quiet and well hidden, but at the same time very close to everything. The ever changing views of the marshland are breathtaking! Our kids, my wife and I really enjoyed staying there. Unfortunately we won't be able to visit soon again, since we are living abroad, but we have already recommended the place to colleagues and friends.
We had a lovely relaxing break in this very well-equipped house with stunning views of the salt marshes and sea. It was a great base from which to explore Cape Cod with lots of home comforts, including excellent wifi for our two teenage daughters. So many great things to do: the Shining Sea Trail bike ride, a Hyannis whale cruise, a free Friday visit to the Sandwich Glass Museum, visits to Town Neck Beach and the Boardwalk, the Ice Cream Sandwich, Beth's and Cape Cod Canal, plus waving at the trains and spotting humming birds! Many thanks Rick and Peg
We had a wonderful time at 5LEL in August. The house is charming and just as described in the Home Away publicity. The master bedroom is spacious, both bedrooms have closets and chests of drawers and the mattresses are comfortable; the bathrooms function well. The living/dining room is big, has good lighting, and the dining table, chairs and sofas are perfect for evening activities. The kitchen is beautifully equipped (we ate in a lot), and it functions extremely well. The house is peaceful and also within a short walk (approx. 25 minutes) of Sandwich Town Centre, and the Boardwalk and Creek - we regularly walked or rode bikes to both. (We also visited the Heritage Gardens, the Cape Cod Canal, the library, and took the summer weekend trolley ride around all the main sites). It is the views over the salt marsh out to the ocean, and the birdlife, along with the fun of the occasional passing train, however, which make 5LEL particularly special. The comfy deck furniture was inviting and so made us want to spend time on the gorgeous deck soaking up the seaside atmosphere and views. An added pleasure to our visit was meeting Rick Spada and his family who were welcoming, kind and very helpful. We would highly recommend 5LEL, and want to thank Rick again for a very happy summer visit to Sandwich.
Stayed here for one week and I have to say it was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time. The view is amazing and the house is clean and lovely. Would love to return to this zen like retreat!!
The actual property is far more beautiful than you would expect from the photos on the Homeaway website. The view from the common area of the home is spectacular and the birds start singing before dawn. An exotic hummingbird visited the feeder on the back porch, which spans the entire back of the house, several times during each day.
Our visiting family members live near Cape Cod, and they were very impressed, asking, "How did you find this house?"
The home is also well appointed. For example, the deck, which spans the width of the back of the house, has a picnic table with 2 benches, 2 full length lounge chairs with foot rests, and 2 large lawn chairs - all chairs had custom-fitted cushions. There are also more chaise lounges and folding chairs in the garage. There's also a gas grill with 4 burners on the back porch, with plenty of gas.
The home is very private - you can't see any other homes or yards from the deck or the inside of the house.
In addition to the deck, there's a large patio in the back yard at ground level, surrounded by high shrubbery. The patio has a fire pit, and very large patio chairs with cushions. This is the ideal spot for toasting s'mores around the fire pit on a cool summer night.
The kitchen is specious enough for multiple cooks; the refrigerator is very large - great for accommodating all the beverages needed for a family gathering. Lots of counter space complements the large oven and gas burners, the automatic dishwasher & over-sized refrigerator.
The porch offers a panoramic view of the beautiful marsh, and a charming, historic Cape Cod train passes on the tracks about twice a day - far enough away for the sound to be pleasant, the train's horn in the distance.
The beds were very comfortable; one bedroom with a queen size bed is situated across the hall from one with 2 twin beds, and there are 2 'jack and jill' bathrooms in between the 2 sleeping areas, along with a hall way. A full shower and tub is in one of the 2 baths.
The location of the home is convenient for a quick trip to the enormous Stop 'n' Shop grocery store and its companion, the CVS drugstore. The latter offers all kinds of beach and picnic items, and will also fill your prescription. This home 's also close to the charming Sandwich town, including a NOT Starbucks coffee shop where you can get fresh baked pastries, cappuccino, lattes, brewed tea, other specialty drinks.
The house was wonderful! It is well kept and we felt at home from the moment we entered. It is well appointed and had everything that we could have needed which greatly simplified our packing and travel - something which we really appreciated. The view is amazing and relaxing - we spent most of our time taking it all in (even on the one rainy day that we had); watching the changing scenes of water, wildlife and sky.
While vacationing we enjoying exploring the surrounding area which we found much more relaxed and laid back as compared to other parts of the Cape. Some of the highlights were whale watching, visiting the local beaches, walking into Sandwich (stores, restaurants, Glass Museum), eating supper on Town Neck Beach (really close to the house), sampling many ice cream establishments, playing frisbee and badminton in the yard, putting a puzzle together on a rainy day and just enjoying time together as a family.
The owners were great to deal with - very responsive and helpful with our many questions. As compared to other rental experiences we have had, I would say that this was at the very top. We can't say enough good things - I would recommend this rental without any reservations to anyone who is considering it.
