About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

Image sitting down with a glass of wine on one of the four decks while listening to the relaxing sound of water falling, in the quiet forest with no neighbors. You kick your shoes off, feeling the freedom and realize you don't want this vacation to end. Picture yourself in a robe and flip flops walking to the hot tub deck to enjoy the sunset and fabulous mountain weather.

Charmed Cottage was built in 1974. The cottage is uniquely placed on 11 acres of private land at the end of the road and at the top of the mountain. The cottage is cradled on two sides by the mountain on which it sits, the rest is 'the view'. It is located about 17 miles fron downtown.

Totally renovated from top to bottom and new on the market as of April 17, 2008. This charming cottage has wood ceilings and windows galore. The windows and doors are said to be from an old mansion in Asheville. It is situated on the mountain in such a way that it never gets the direct afternoon sun which keeps it perfectly cool during summer months.

Beautiful plantings bring a bounty of floral surprises throughout the year. The natural stream and waterfall add to the beauty and relaxation of this cottage hide-away.

The cottage features four decks:

- an intimate dining deck with a spectacular view

-an intimate conversation deck with a spectacular view

- one huge deck, the size of a four car garage for group get-togethers (maybe weddings) or lazing the day away

- one large deck on a grassy knoll with 6-8 person hot tub and that spectacular view

PLEASE NOTE: Not suitable for those with knee problems or health concerns. The cottage was built in the 70's and stair risers are higher than normal and the loft stairs are steeper than normal. NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE.

The cottage also features:

~Wood burning fireplace.

~Three bedrooms & sleeping nook (sleeps 7).

~Two king beds, two twin-size beds & luxury twin futon bed. Twin beds can be converted to king prior to your arrival. So...essentially, we can sleep 6 adults in 3 high-quality king beds with luxurious linens and one other adult/child.

~Cashmere-like robes for 6 adults.

~Refrigerator with ice-maker, a dishwasher and a new gas range & microwave.

~Two living areas: one for reading and conversation by the fire

(with that spectacular view) and the other for watching TV.

~Two dining areas: a dining counter for 6 and dining table for 4.

~We have three flat panel TV's - all with DVD player built in.

~Large collection of DVD's for your viewing pleasure.

~DirecTV Satellite TV

~Wireless high speed internet connection.

~CD Player with IPod Dock.

~Local telephone service with an answering machine.

~All furnishings are new, beautiful and luxurious.

~Two full baths (one with refinished claw foot tub and the other a modern walk-in shower) and one half bath in the loft.

~Six to eight person hot tub on the 'grassy knoll' with a spectacular year-round view.

~A kitchen with all your food preparation and serving needs available.

~Central air conditioning & heating.

and....more.

Charmed Cottage is perfect for family get-togethers, birthday celebrations, anniversary, honeymoon, friends, brothers, or sisters reunion, vacation, relaxation and renewal.

About Brea Gratia & David Robinson

I love Asheville! I live in Houston and, amazingly, manage our properties easily from afar. I own Sanctuary Spa in Houston. Many of our guests tell me our cabins are 'spa-like'...no wonder! I look forward to the day I get to move to Asheville. I've been working on it for many years and life events get in the way. Hopefully summer of 2013...keep your fingers crossed for me/us. I am in a relationship with David Robinson for 12 years now. He has also invested in a property in Asheville. All total we have three properties - Charmed Cottage, Chalet Quietude and Woodlands Chalet.

Brea Gratia & David Robinson purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Brea Gratia & David Robinson chose Asheville Area

Well - I said it before - I LOVE Asheville. I want to live in Asheville. It brings joy to my heart. I love the forest, the mountains, the sunrise, the sunsets, the snow, the summer, the ever changing views from all of our cabins - you name it - I LOVE Asheville.

What makes this cottage unique

Charmed Cottage is on 11 acres and it has a stream. I love the serenity, the privacy and the huge hot tub. The house is just about all windows and you can see everywhere. The decks are awesome (3 attached to the house). Even though it is a large cottage, it is extremely intimate. It is cozy, comfortable and spacious (ha). I love that it is one mile up the road from the main road and at the top of the mountain. The property was built by a child actor who originally owned the entire mountain...wouldn't that be great - own a mountain. I love it at the Charmed Cottage.

Charmed Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Charmed Cottage. It was very quiet, and relaxing. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. The cabin was stocked with anything that you could possibly need during your trip. We loved sitting on the porch in the morning, having our coffee, and enjoying our spectacular mountain view. The best part was the hot tub view and star gazing at night. We just loved loved our stay at this cabin! This cabin was close to everything that we wanted to do durin our trip. We would be very interested in staying here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Hilary. We loved having you as our guest and do certainly hope you come again. We are happy you found everything you needed and made use of it all. The view is amazing and especially on the hot tub deck. I'm glad you enjoyed the night sky - it is also amazing in the country with no city lights to dilute nature. No noise and no city lights - how great is that!!!! Thanks again - please stay in touch. Brea

Owner's Response: Charlie - it was our pleasure to have you and your family come stay at the Charmed Cottage for your time in Asheville. Yes, the view is breathtaking and the cottage is quirky and comfortable. I'm so glad you came and hope to hear from you again. Loved seeing the photos of your family on the hot tub deck with that view in the back ground - OH and the Mr. & Mrs Claus photo. Happy New Year! Brea

Charmed Cottage is all that and more. Warm, welcoming and charming.

  • 5 of 5

Brea and David have thought of every detail. Charmed Cottage is charming,,,and welcoming and comfortable and tastefully decorated! Morning coffee on the balconies / spectacular vistas, privacy - all that you seek in a mountain cabin is there including comfortable seating, comfortable beds, a well placed hot tub, and a fully equipped kitchen. (We cooked Thanksgiving dinner - turkey and all of the trimmin's). If you're looking for a well appointed and relaxing and charming cabin, Charmed Cottage is your spot. It's your private cottage with your own private vistas from your own private balconies and/or hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed Charmed Cottage. You will too!

Owner's Response: Jane - it was such a pleasure to have you spend Thanksgiving at the cottage. Having all the necessary items in the kitchen for a large meal like turkey and all the trimmin's is an important feature. I am also delighted you enjoyed the privacy, the serenity and the view! The Charmed Cottage is a fun, quirky place with unusual design which lends itself to whimsy in decorating. I love comfort and when decorating, it had to be something unusual, yet comfortable. I look forward to hearing from you again. Brea & David

Excellent, "luxury" cabin experience

  • 5 of 5

I went with three friends to stay at the Charmed Cottage and we all agreed it was an amazing experience. Brea gave very clear and straightforward instructions about how to get there (the drive up to the cabin is quite an adventure- it's a steep drive up the mountain on a gravel road, but our Mazda made it up just fine) and what to expect upon arrival. The cottage itself was beautiful. The bathrooms were equipped with fresh towels, the kitchen had everything we needed to make a home cooked meal, and there were multiple patios to enjoy the mountain air. For four people we had plenty of space. There's a little to explore outdoors around the property, but don't expect to play a game of soccer on the top of the mountain or to find any hike-able trails on the property (well there are a few hidden trails but they are short and I'd recommend wearing pants because the plants clearly grow like crazy on the mountain). The drive to Asheville is super easy (about 20-25 mins) and even getting to the nearest grocery store only took about 15 minutes. We had a blast and are planning to check out this cabin (or another of Brea's properties) in the fall when the leaves change colors. Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Beatrice - I'm so happy you loved the cottage. It is a very charming place, full of surprises. The unique design of the structure lends itself to a fun decorating style which many find fun and amazing. The cottage is spacious as you said with two living room areas - I call one the living room and the other the reading room (but all in the same space with the huge kitchen). I hope you did cook some great home cooked meals there - with the large dining counter, it is fun to have a glass of wine, chop some greens and help the cook. Yes - the mountains do produce vegetation and with 11 acres, that's a lot of green growth. I hope you noticed how much cooler it is in the mountains as opposed to the city. It's hard to leave because it's so relaxing at the Cottage. I do hope you plan to come again as you and friends were great guests and it was my pleasure to have y'all. My best, Brea

Charmed is definitely how I would describe this incredible oasis!

  • 5 of 5

This chalet was the perfect setting for the engaging in beauty, fresh air, the mountains, and relaxation. Upon our arrival, we were shocked by the view (even though 2 of us live in Asheville). We had no idea that it would be situated in such a pristine area. The hot tub situated on the breakfast deck, gave a stunning view of the mountains and the stars!

The chalet itself was amazing! Brea has literally thought of EVERYTHING! Personal touches, comfy towels and beds, everything you could possible need to make an amazing meal, the multiple decks with seating on all. The hand blown glass windows are to die for and so are the large amazing doors! The detail in this place just makes you feel blessed to be allowed to stay there. The basement stays amazingly cool so you get an incredible sleep under the warm blankets and those sheets (which by the way, I may just have to buy because they ARE truly amazing!) My friend enjoyed the loft bedroom immensely. She LOVES lofts and found it to be quite perfect for her taste. All in all, this home was impeccable, beautiful, and I could have stayed there forever never to be seen again! :-)

Thank you Brea for providing such an amazing space for me and two of the closest people in my life to spend our last few days together before we had to return to the "real world".

Owner's Response: Michael - thanks so much for such a fabulous review. I believe that is one of the very best and most descriptive of your experience. It sounds like you touched on all the uniqueness of the Charmed Cottage plus how you felt while there. It is a very special place and I am thrilled y'all thought so too (I'm from Texas and had to slip a y'all in there). Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you again when the timing is perfect for another get-together!!! Brea

Close to everything but still so far away...

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Charmed Cottage for 4 days. The cottage was everything as advertised. It had excellent views and solitude while still being within a half hour or less to the Biltmore, Asheville and Chimney Rock. The kitchen was well appointed. It had everything we needed plus a lot that most VRBO homes do not have. There are thee different decks plus the viewing deck with the hot tub to give you plenty of options to listen to the waterfall while enjoying the outdoors. Brea was very helpful in answering our questions. We would use this cottage again the next time we visit the area.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Aaron. We loved having the four of your as our guests. We're so happy you loved the decks and the view - especially the one at the hot tub deck - it is very special with the incredible view. It's true that it's an easy drive into Asheville, Chimney Rock and the Biltmore. We're happy you pointed that out. I also want to thank the ladies - Nikki and Stella - I personally enjoyed meeting them and providing a facial for each of them. I love being able to meet our guests and especially offering the opportunity to relax with one of my fabulous facials. Please let me know when you are planning another trip to the area - We would love to have you stay with us again. Thanks so much - Brea
