Why Matt Becker chose Michigan

We love northern Michigan. The lure of a traditional escape was premier, while the natural beauty, relaxing pace, and charm continue to inspire us. Some people visit; others never want to leave. This is our way of staying!

What makes this cottage unique

quiet bliss, beautiful sunsets on a perfect porch, lazy hammock naps, whole books completed :) and s'mores, too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Dear Matt & Lesley

We loved staying in your beautiful home & grounds. Your colors, patterns,& room decorations are so lovely. We have stayed in other rental properties & really appreciated the cleanliness of your home.

A special thank you for allowing our son to stay in your attic room. He enjoyed his "own space" & thought it was a great room. Thank you for opening up the bright room. It was a special privilege! The place is gorgeous- just like the whole house. God's blessings to your family"

Best Family Vacation EVER!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time at this beautiful lakefront home. Everything was even nicer than the pictures online. I'm extremely picky about which VRBO listings we rent, and I often take days or weeks to decide on a place. It's paid off, though, because we've had great experiences every time. This home, however, was the best so far! It was remarkably clean and well-stocked. It was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The lake was amazing. Even the neighbors were amazing (friendly, helpful with fishing tips for the lake, local dining, etc)! It was perfect for our family of 5 (kids ages 12, 10, 7). My brother stayed with us for 2 days, and then my parents-in-law stayed for 2 days. It was comfortable for us all. We loved the lake, kayak, paddle boat, hammock, porch, croquet, swing set, boat house patio, claw foot tub, and all less than 10 minutes from Mackinaw City! Lake Paradise seems like a best-kept secret. There's so many other lakes in the area, this one has very little boat traffic. Also, the home is on a very low-traveled dirt road, so it is SO QUIET here!

The only caveat I can possibly think of is there is no air conditioning. The evenings were a bit muggy but fans kept sleeping fairly comfortable. My mother-in-law did mention she would have appreciated a window AC unit in her room. It does have at least 4 fans, though, throughout the house - and the breeze from the lake is wonderful!

Thank you so much for sharing your place with us! I do hope we can be back next year

all you can ask for

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house as soon as we opened the door. Very clean. There was a play structure for the kids, toys, fishing, and swimming. So many places to relax inside and out. The location was perfect with so many places within a short drive. One week goes by too fast. Nobody wanted to leave. So much better than staying at a hotel. The owners responded quickly before our trip with a few questions we had. Even the neighbor was friendly and recommended some places to eat. We would definitely recommend a stay at Pearlview.

Beautiful home with a gorgeous setting.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Perlview. 4 adults and 4 children fit comfortably in the house. We went swimming daily off the dock and the kids loved playing in the yard and on the swing set. The fire pit was perfect for evening campfires right next to the lake. It was a quick drive into Mackinaw City where there was plenty to do.

Disconnect the devices and Enjoy Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Our multigenerational family of 9 (ages 6-60) loved Pearlview! Upon arrival there was some panic about the absence of WI-FI. (I believe they thought that was a joke and not the truth when told in advance) Only those with Verizon Wireless had reliable cell service while at the house. (The other services became available once we were out of the trees) Once we settled in WI-FI was barely missed. The property was perfect for us. The house spacious and well equipped for a families needs. Outside we enjoyed the porch, play set, boat, fire pit and the dock. Especially the dock! 90% of the time spent at the property was on or near the docks, fishing, swimming and just hanging out. Late evenings we spent watching a movie before bed. The location was perfect for getting to and from the area attractions. We spend a day in the UP visiting a zoo and the Mystery Spot and another day we took the Ferry to the Island. We took a beautiful drive to Petoskey for a beach day. Honestly we could have stocked up on groceries and spent all 7 days on the property and everyone would have been just fine with it. The day trips were a bonus! Loved speaking with Matt the day before arrival and hearing the story behind the evolution of the property. The property is clean, well taken care of and in our opinion a much better option that any resort. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

The property is great for children. There is a yard and a play set for them to play on. Plenty room in the house.... More then we needed. We had four adults and four children. The property is on the lake and you do need to take stairs down to the lake but there was no problem with that. The kids were able to swim off the dock and the water in that area was not deep at all. One down fall is the location of fire pit. It is down by the lake and not much room for everyone to sit around. So when the kids were in bed, it was too far for the adults to hang out. The husbands loved the fishing which there are many different fish in the lake. They even caught many of them with the kids off the dock. Super close to the city. The yard is nicely kept up with trees and flowers and has nice shade for those hot days. We had a fantastic time!!!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the beauty of Pearlview. It offers so many areas to enjoy, for kids and adults! We have six large dining chairs around the outside patio set on the boathouse balcony for lakeside dining. a picnic table sits on the northwest lawn area next to an outdoor chimney smokehouse! A hammock is near the small bluff on the south lawn. The front porch has 4 chairs/rockers, a porch swing for 2, and a comfy glider! A back porch has two outside chairs near the grill area. The lawn is large on both sides of the cottage. It can accomodate any outside games you wish. We have a sprinkler system to keep the lawn nice. The campfire area is built into our planked walkway next to the lake where our guests enjoy the best views of sunset. The campfire pit has a built in grill if you chose to cook over an open flame. The boathouse is next to this spot for easy access to extra folding chairs. Kids are ecstatic to play on the awesome playground we have on site. Swings, slide, lookout view spot, climbing area---(Rainbow Systems playground). Inside we have a play area with toys and books. We know a great vacation includes keeping the kids happy and entertained, too. We love to hear about our guests enjoying all our hard work! We Sincerely thank you for your patronage.

Beautiful home with top comfort

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with my entire family who came from across the country. The house was very comfortable and the owners thought of everything. It was especially nice to have a crib, highchair, and toys for the kids. The decor is amazing and we appreciated the details throughout the house. The yard, dock and fire pit were immaculate and fun for all of us. The pictures in the listing are accurate, and the property is in great condition. It was clean and very well maintained. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting the amazing northern MI area. This time of year was great too as the weather was perfect and the trees were just starting to change colors.
