The Northumberland Strait is a warm and gentle ocean very suited to children and safety. Heron Cove beach house is within 100 feet of the shorefront and easily accessible by foot. Children are very welcome but the home is not suitable for ages 6 and under..please inquire. There is an on site gardener/caretaker who resides in the summer studio. We keep a kitchen garden for your delight and the grounds are maintained for your pleasure.

Heaven in Heron Cove

  • 5 of 5

This is an incredible house - the owner, Linda, is an artist, and it shows everywhere you look. Every room is a delight (even the bathrooms), there is interesting artwork on the walls, furniture is delightfully and carefully arranged. But the greatest impression of the house is of space, light and air. All windows have terrific views, all the rooms are generously sized - I could move in permanently, and sometimes it was hard to make ourselves leave the house to sightsee! We were two couples, and it was great to have so much space, though we did tend to congregate in the screened in porch every evening. The place is so well equipped, from a food processor to wine glasses for each kind of wine. It's immaculate - it felt as if we were the first people to stay there. Linda was very helpful and friendly.

The beach is great for beach combing (if you cut through the abandoned Boy Scout camp you come to a little sand beach, and can walk a long way at low tide), the lawn is good for games and frisbee. It is very quiet and peaceful.

We went to the Chowder House - it's terrific. But the food highlight was the little ice cream stand on the right as you drive down Point Prim Road - don't miss it. Cooper's Red and White was great, very obliging - they will order seafood and baked goods for you, and have a liquor outlet (it carried prosecco, so I was happy).

I recommend Kro in the Sky jewellery and Belfast Mini Mills, but make sure to get some of Linda's lovely handmade paper cards.

I recommend Heron Cove to anyone wanting to stay in a lovely house which combines all the comforts of home with a beach house ambience in a beautiful, peaceful part of the world

Exceptional Beach House

  • 5 of 5

Four of us (all adults) rented this beautiful, well appointed house on the water last August and for the first two days, the artwork and books at the house and idyllic beach kept us enthralled—we never left the property. The beds and furniture are wonderfully comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and the walk to beach, easy. We took the beautiful coastal drive into Charlottetown, the provincial Capital, and had a terrific time—warm and friendly people everywhere. Just up the road from the house, there's a wonderful seaside restaurant called The Chowder House—if you come to Heron Cove, don't miss it—it became our "go to" place for lunch. Heron Cove is a well-loved home full of delightful surprises. We'll definitely be back! Thank you so much for having us!

Wonderful place for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

What can I add that has not already been said in the previous reviews? Heron Cove is as pretty as it is shown in the pictures. We joined two families and one guest from Europe in this lovely house and we felt like we had all the comforts of home if not more! The best room in the house is the screened porch; it is flooded with light both at dawn and dusk. We ate and played games there without any disturbance from pesky insects on those days where there was not enough wind to protect us from them. There is a lovely lawn where we played badminton or catch and we also enjoyed roasting marshmellows in the fire pit. My husband had decided to bring a large floatation device and I am glad he did; the water was so calm that we were able to just relax while floating a few meters from the beach. Linda is a perfectionist and her attention to detail is evident everywhere in the cottage including in the cleanliness. She is also highly responsive should you need help with anything. Lastly, I highly recommend the restaurant at Point Prim; the food is exquisite and the view is breathtaking. On your way there, you can stop at the bottle village where a man built an entire village with recycled bottles. Entrance is free although there is a collection box of donations for Halifax's Children's Hospital. We had a WONDERFUL time at Heron Cove and we all hope to return again some day!

Marvelous property and great location!

  • 5 of 5

Just like the pictures, picture perfect!

Great location with easy access to Charlottetown, and everywhere else in PEI.

Nicely furnished, extremely comfortable, full kitchen, lots of different places to lounge or play. Excellent property with great views. Nice to have 3 full bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. I wouldn't change anything.

Owner is attentive and made sure everything was in order, checked in occasionally, but also gave you your privacy.

I would return without hesitation, and have recommended the cottage to my friends.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We have four young boys and were very excited to make our first trip to PEI. We were thrilled. Not only is the house large and gorgeous, but the area and beach was wonderful, too. Linda was great, we appreciated all the little touches, fresh bread when we arrived and one time coming back from a day's excursion to find a dozen colorful blown up balls Linda had for us all over the lawn. Our boys fell in love with the place, the owner and the island, as did we. We hope to make it an annual trip! Thanks again Linda!

So beautiful and such a relaxing place

  • 5 of 5

After the trials of traveling, we found Heron Cove a great place to relax and enjoy the many charms of Prince Edward Island. We loved our many walks on the beach as well as the trails nearby. Charlottetown being just a short drive away offered some entertaining afternoons. We took the city tour, went to the farmers market, had a great Cow ice cream (best in the world). Linda was so warm and welcoming not to mention the house was in perfect condition with lots of charming places to read. We took full advantage of the fire pit for the cool evenings. We highly recommend this great getaway to anyone wishing to visit PEI.

Heron Cove Beach House is located in the community of Mount Buchanan on the Point Prim Peninsula. Point Prim, home to the island's oldest light house is a prominent landmark jutting out into the Northumberland Strait. The shallow sandy shelf surrounding the peninsula soaks up the sun at low tide, warming the ocean waters as the incoming tide crosses over. Swimming at high tide, is perfect

Other Activities: beach combing, birdwatching, clam digging
